Kentrail Davis is a 2007 left hand hitting outfielder from Theodore HS, residing in Theodore, AL. Davis has a strong, powerful, stocky build on his explosive 5'9" 195 lb. frame. Comparisons to a Kirby Puckett have been frequent, not just because he is built like Puckett, but because Davis can hit and can run. He is a fun player to watch and was ranked #8 among PG National Top 100 position players, earning an Aflac All-American selection. Not the prototype body type, Davis is going to force scouts, crosscheckers, and scouting directors to think twice about passing on him because he is not fit the physical mold of a MLB player. What does fit are his tools. Davis seems a threat to do something special each and every time he steps to the plate. He has plus bat speed and takes an aggressive, big hack. What is very impressive is that as big as his swing is, he is under control. Davis has plus raw power and very good usable present day power that shows up regularly with wood bats already. He has a knack for getting the barrel to contact on time and in the zone his bat is as alive as just about any hitter in this high school draft class. Davis is what should be classified as a dangerous hitter. He is aggressive and not at all picky, but under control. He is at the plate looking to hit with some intent each and every at bat. In the field he has a strong, accurate arm (good one hop throws) and closing speed that can keep him in centerfield, though a corner also fits for him. Davis ran 4.12 home/1st, a 6.72 laser timed 60. Davis is a top tier D1 prospect and has established himself as one of the most explosive hitters in the '07 high school draft class.
