Bennet Hilbert is a 2029 SS/RHP/OF with a 5-10 140 lb. frame from Wilmette, IL who attends New Trier Township. Lean young athletic build. Right handed hitter, sets up in a narrow stance with a high hand load, swings hard and has some bat speed, stays compact and direct, line drive swing plane, flashed his power potential during the game, projectable hitting tools as he continues to get bigger and stronger. 7.89 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, step by step action into the ball and still developing his lower half actions, fielded the ball cleanly and made accurate throws while changing his arm slot well. Also worked out into the outfield, showed his raw arm strength well, tends to rush into his fielding actions and release. Took a turn on the mound, has a well controlled delivery with good balance and direction, throws from a standard 3/4's arm slot, arm is loose and projectable. fastball topped out at 81 mph with more there as he gets stronger, gets heavy running life at times, velocity plays up to hitters. Curveball was a solid pitch with tight hard spin and the ability to land it for strikes, sharp biting action. May have a higher ceiling on the mound based on this look. Good student. Named to the PG High School All-State Select Championship Top Prospect List.
