2024 High School All State Select Championship (2027-2028 Grads)
Gavin Jenkins is a 2027 LHP/1B/OF with a 5-10 190 lb. frame from New Castle, IN who attends Eastern Hancock. Features a medium-sized build with some present strength. Ran a 7.44 60-yd dash. In the OF, showed strong footwork with a glove that got down on time and worked through the baseball well for a clean reception. Good transfer with a smaller crowhop. Longer arm action that got of on-line/accurate throws to the bag with avg. strength for his level. At 1B, more of a slower process at times with his feet but glove showed well. Noticeably comfortable around the bag. Arm showed better strength but more of a steeper release. At the plate, sits in a medium base with loose/lower hanging hands. Real simple/quick trigger with minimal moving parts. Foot gets down early and hands tip the barrel slightly into launch. Some early length to the swing as he throws the barrel on a flatter path through that does cut across at times. Avg. bat/hand speed and barrel feel for his level. Good amount of soft opposite field contact with a few that had some jump to the pullside. On the mound, worked exclusively from the stretch. Uses a belt high leg lift and comes down into a smaller drop in driveleg. Works on-line as arm shows a deeper/longer path out the glove and up to a lower 3/4 slot. Creates some decent extension out front. Ran the FB up to 82 that exhibited some natural running action and got by opposing barrels. Mixed in a SL in the upper 60s that exhibited some 2-8 shape with some occasional good bite. SL was particularly effective vs. LHHs landing it early and often. Struck out the side in his inning of work.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
