Christian Updegrove is a 2028 C/RHP/UT with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Keller, TX who attends Keller. Medium build with good present strength, especially in his lower half. Right handed hitter, sets up in a balanced straight stance with a short side into contact, clears his hips well and creates pull side power and some lift, ball comes off the barrel hard, has hitting tools to continue to develop. 7.32 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, moves forward early and receives the ball deep, has some quickness coming out of his crouch and replaces his feet well, quickness over arm strength in his actions. Also worked out in the infield and outfield, arm played well in the outfield and made accurate on-line throws, showed third base tools on the dirt. Took a turn on the mound, was a well controlled wind up with good lower half use coming down the mound, mid 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 81 mph and was mostly straight. Tended to slow his arm and body on all his off speed pitches and especially his curveball, slider showed the most potential of the three. Good student. Named to the PG Lone Star Showcase Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
