2024 Puerto Rico National Showcases Qualifier
Alejandro Cruz is a 2026 RHP/1B with a 6-2 172 lb. frame from Carolina, PR who attends Central Pointe Christian. Tall and slender young build with lots of room to fill in and get stronger. Works from the stretch with a high leg raise start, big hip turn over the rubber, has some energy at release but repeats his mechanics very well for all the moving parts. Fastball was in the upper 70's consistently, did a good job throwing it to spots, gets some cutting action at times. Curveball had good depth and he showed a feel for landing it for strikes. Pitchability was evident, just needs to get stronger to take the next step with his velocity. Very good student.
