Owen Burnes is a 2028 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-3 205 lb. frame from Milton, MA who attends Dexter Southfield. Big and strong athletic build, especially in the lower half. Works from a short side step delivery with a high leg raise and coil over the rubber, gets down the mound well with an extended 3/4's arm slot. Fastball worked in the upper 80's and topped out at 89 mph. Really impressed with his ability to spin the ball, mid-70's curveball had 2900+ rpm spin and sharp biting action, also threw a low 80's slider with tight late shape. Change up was a solid fourth pitch that killed the spin well and got some fade. 7.32 runner in the sixty. Plays first base on defense, has quick hands and good glove work, moves well to the ball, makes accurate throws from multiple slots. Left handed hitter, sets up narrow with a short stride into contact, pull approach and turns the barrel over, gets into his back side well, has potential as a hitter as well as a pitcher. Very good student.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
