2024 Sunshine Rocky Mountain Showcase (Tues-Wed)
Daniel Melvin is a 2025 3B/1B with a 6-2 180 lb. frame from Boulder, CO who attends Boulder. Tall and slender build with plenty of room to fill out and get stronger. Right handed hitter, hits from a slightly open stance with a gliding stride into contact, was well timed and consistent and showed good body control, loose and extended swing with some lift out front, controlled the barrel well and went gap to gap in his contact, solid overall approach that just needs more strength behind it to develop. 7.32 runner in the sixty. Primary third baseman on defense, gets the glove down early and has soft hands, has a compact arm action and makes accurate throws while being able to change his arm slot, good fundamental footwork. Well coached player with some actions who will keep improving in proportion to how much stronger he can get. Excellent student.
