James Palermo is a 2029 RHP/1B/3B with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Jonestown, TX who attends Cedar Park. Taller high waisted build with the beginnings of some present strength. Primary RHP, works from a sidestep delivery with a low leg raise and a mid 3/4's arm slot. Fastball worked up to 79 and played firm with some subtle arm side run. Works downhill and in line well. Works fast with good tempo. Velo should continue to trend up. Curve shown with healthy 11-5 shape but will need to be more consistent with it moving forward. Change also flashed with fading drop. Mixes and blends off-speed well off his fastball. Hitters kept off balance. Strike thrower with pitch-ability traits. Also played infield showing corner like actions and profiles more so there. Fields ball upright with one hand gather up the middle. Not fully around it at times and sometimes late to ball. Was up to 78 from infield and accurate with throws. Profiles best on corner. Also played first base. Big target around the bag and fielded position cleanly with 2 hands out front. Made throws and was accurate. Also ran an 8.11 sixty. Right-handed hitter with a balanced upright base. Handsy swing that could work into lower half better. Head needs to stay still to help with timing it up more consistently and staying on the ball better. Tends to lose balance at contact with weight leaking forward. Can impact it when on it and on time just needs to be more consistent doing so. Strength off barrel evident. Produced an exit velo of 84.
