2019 Great Lakes Prospect Showcase
Ryan Sauter is a 2021 3B/RHP with a 6-3 220 lb. frame from Olathe, KS who attends Olathe West. Large frame with broad shoulders and present strength. Primary third baseman with clean footwork while rounding the baseball. Fluid glove actions at pick and worked through exchange with loose actions. Employed a high energy arm action and generated stiff carry across the infield at 84 mph. Right handed hitter with an even, narrow stance and high back elbow set. Simple, direct hand path to contact with a linear barrel plane through extension. Showed good feel for the barrel while employing a mid field approach. Flashed the ability to generate lift and carry off the barrel when connecting with baseball out front. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and lands in line at finish. Hooks arm slightly at take back and released from a three-quarters slot. Showed good arm speed with fastball offering creating some riding life through the zone in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 83 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape with some tightness and later depth when maintaining arm speed through extension. Excellent student. Named to the 2019 Great Lakes Prospect Showcase, Top Prospect List.
