Zack Kent is a 2022 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Wakefield, MA who attends Wakefield Memorial. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill throughout. Ran a 6.94 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, fields the ball out front, took an extra step moving into release, full arm action with some effort across but solid arm strength and carry on to first base, takes nice angles moving to the ball, shows a quick transfer out of the glove. Also pitched, starts square to the plate, chest high leg raise while a higher three-quarters release; effort at release, long stride and incorporates lower half well Fastball topped out at 83 mph and showed nice life, got on hitters quickly while working around the plate; mixed a sharp slider up to 72 mph with late break which served as an out pitch. right-handed hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate; utilizes a subtle leg lift trigger for timing in the box. Short swing path through the zone and creates some extension out front with the barrel, occasionally pulls off with front side but shows strength in hands and jump when squared. Good student. Named to New England Indoor Top Prospect List.
