Luke Esquivel is a 2028 1B/LHP/OF with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Grapevine, TX who attends Grapevine. Tall, athletic build with present strength throughout the frame. Ran a 7.23 60-yard dash. Primary left-handed pitcher, side steps into a belt high leg lift to balance, works down the mound with obvious athleticism. High end arm speed and worked in the 84-85 range comfortably with a lot more in there (2064 RPM). Excellent feel for three pitch mix, spun tight slider up to 71 mph (2144 RPM) and also mixed in a changeup to right-handed hitters, up to 76 mph (1942 RPM). Great pitchability with big physical projection. Secondary first baseman, smooth footwork bouncing off the bag, clean turns and gets the ball out of the glove quickly. Accurate throws with carry to both bags, recorded throws up to 83 mph. Left-handed hitter, high back elbow in the stance, great rhythm and flow to the operation, got the barrel out front and impacted to the pull-side often with advanced strength and bat speed. Also worked out in the outfield, comes and gets it well with athleticism working through grounders, maintains momentum and showed good arm strength with fundamental actions, recoded throws up to 83 mph. Verbal commitment to Louisiana State. Selected to the 2024 14u PG Select Festival.
