Richard Bohlken is a 2007 right hand hitting middle infielder from La Cueva HS, residing in Albuquerque, NM. Bohlken has an average athletic type build, with some strength on his 5'11" 180 lb. frame. It is a good body for the middle infield. Bohlken hits from a square stance and employs a sound hitting approach. He has a short swing that produces a lot of solid contact. He also has enough bat speed to project some doubles into the gaps, particularly on the pull side. It appeared as though his focus was hitting line drives and forcing the defense to make a play on him. In the field he showed good hands and was particularly impressive on his double play turn at 2nd base. Not a burner, but a good runner, near average in terms of his game speed with a 4.34 home/1st time and a 7.13 60 yard dash. It seems that many athletes that develop in places at high altitude, such as Albuquerque, continue their development well past high school, so keep an eye on Bohlken, as he plays at one of the winningest high school progams in the nation and is likely a very important to his team's success.
