Derek Soroa is a 2027 3B/RHP with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Bronx, NY who attends Fordham Prep. Lean, projectable build with long levers and well-proportioned strength. Primary third baseman, works through the baseball at a deliberate pace and funnels it cleanly. Showcased some developing lateral range and athleticism in the dirt. Builds up a bit late but eventually carries his momentum well into release. Delivered accurate throws across the diamond while recording arm strength up to 86 mph. Left-handed hitter, starts in a narrow, open stance with a high back elbow and high hand set-up. Utilizes a simple load and stride for timing before working into a slightly uphill stroke. Remains grounded and connected well through impact, generating consistent carry and backspin from gap to gap. Has plenty of evident strength in the hands with intriguing power potential. Repeats his operation well. Posted an exit velocity of 85 mph. Ran a 7.52 sixty-yard dash. Great student. Named to the 2024 Summer Northeast Workout Showcase Top Prospect List.
