Jerek Hobb is a 2022 LHP/OF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Rotterdam, NY who attends Schalmont. Medium athletic build with the beginnings of some present strength. Works from the far first base side of the rubber with a mid to low 3/4's arm slot, compact arm action the hides the ball well, creates both deception and angle to his pitches. Fastball topped out at 84 mph, mostly straight from a mid 3/4's slot. Slider came out from a bit lower slot, slider has nice shape and tight spin, very good feel for locating his slider, uses his slider as his out pitch. Flashed a power change up with hard diving action that he can use more frequently. Mature is his approach to pitching. 7.47 runner in the sixty. Showed his arm strength and athleticism well in the outfield with a similar low arm slot and good extension through release. Left handed hitter, hits from a spread stance with a big pull back load, swings hard with a rotational swing, best contact to left centerfield. Good student, verbal commitment to NY Stony Brook. Named to the Fall Connecticut Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
