Juan Solis is a 2020 SS/RHP, 3B with a 6-2 190 lb. frame from Clute, TX who attends Brazoswood. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and long limbs, high waist with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary shortstop, moves well on feet and fields the ball out front, funnels into body well, extra step moving through release with full arm action, works on top of throws and shows very good accuracy across the diamond, can continue to incorporate additional lower half into release. Also pitched, worked exclusively out of the stretch; high leg lift up past belt and loads weight onto back side, full arm action through the back working to a three-quarters release point. Short and on line stride down the mound, creates cut action to fastball from release, will develop consistent release point, curveball shows 12-6 shape when on top. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide and slightly open stance with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; does a nice job of getting closed with gliding leg lift trigger. Simple swing with a full path through the zone, creates lift to path and showed timing to stroke. Fluidity in swing and incorporates physical strength well, can continue to shorten stroke but repeats well. Very good student.
