2017 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Keegan Torkilson is a 2019 SS/RHP, 2B with a 6-0 163 lb. frame from New Berlin, WI who attends New Berlin West. Medium frame with long limbs and a lean build. Frame projects to support additional size with strength. Ran a 7.03 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with quick, athletic footwork while surrounding the baseball. Funnels the baseball out front and works through exchange with clean, fundamental actions. Created good momentum to the bag while releasing from a three-quarters slot topping at 74 miles per hour. Throws produced accurate on line carry across the infield. Right handed hitter with an even, balanced stance. Hands load to a deep, strong position prior to lower half launching on a rotational path to contact. Maintained balance well throughout with a level, line drive plane through extension. Primarily worked to the middle of the field and flashed good jump to the gaps when swing with on time and in sync. Also pitched showing a clean, smooth paced side step delivery. Short arm circle back at separation and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Flashed to ability to change arm slot yet stay in the strike zone. Showed good feel for fastball offering down in the zone in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 miles per hour. Curveball flashed good depth with 12/6 shape in the low 70's. Developing feel and command to the edges of the plate, but consistently filled the bottom quadrant of the zone. Tools will continue to develop with maturity and repetition. Good student as well.
