2020 14U Sunshine Showcase at Prasco Park
Brandon Woodruff is a 2023 RHP/C/IF with a 5-8 165 lb. frame from Cunningham, TN who attends Montgomery Central. Strong young build. Works with two different sets of mechanics from the windup and the stretch. Step by step windup with some back arch and tilt and a high 3/4's arm slot, pitches much more hunched over with a lower arm slot from the stretch. Fastball topped out at 68 mph, threw exclusively fastballs and did a good job of throwing strikes and challenging hitters for three innings. Right handed hitter, hits from a tall, open stance with a good shift into contact, has a full loose swing with some developing bat speed, showed an accurate barrel and some jump when squared up. Third base actions and profile on defense. Primary pitcher but graded out highest as a hitter at this event. Very good student.
