Braden Barker is a 2018 C/RHP with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Loveland, CO who attends Mountain View. Large frame with a strong, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Ran a 7.68 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a slightly taller, narrow stance while setting up to receive. Gains ground while working out of crouch with quick, compact footwork. Clean exchanges while working through transition, will rush at times. Released from a compact three-quarters arm slot producing good carry to the bag at 76 miles per hour, best workout pop time of 1.96. Right handed hitter with an upright, slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Lower half works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Consistently looked to turn the barrel to contact aggressively on a slightly lifted plane. When squared, generated good jump off the barrel with solid carry to the gaps. Also pitched showing a compact arm actions from a high three-quarters arm slot. Stays inline at balance point and utilizes lower half while working to the plate. Fastball had some downward plane through the zone in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Cureball had 11/5 shape with good spin and solid bite. Also flashed developing feel for a changeup that had some sinking action in the mid 70's. Consistently filled the zone and challenged hitter with fastball early in counts. Tools will continue to develop with repetition and fluidity. Good student. Named to the 2017 Rocky Mountain Showcase Top Prospect List.
