David McCabe is a 2018 3B/1B with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Courtice, ON who attends Everest Academy. Extra-large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength to frame with some room to still fill out moving forward. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front and hands play, gets wide with base, shows sound fundamentals moving towards the ball, fuller arm stroke through the back and gets on top of throws well, carry with arm strength across the diamond on throws. Switch-hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow from the right side and utilizes a toe tap trigger for timing at start. Full swing path through the zone and incorporates physical strength well, shows leverage and looks to impact the baseball when extended out front at point of contact, spun on fastball well to pull side gap in live action and showed quickness to hands. Begins with hands pulled back from the left side, employs a double toe tap trigger for timing. Occasionally gets mistimed, swings with intent and generates lift out front. Very good student.
