Jacob Nelson is a 2017 OF/RHP with a 6-1 200 lb. frame from Artemus, KY who attends Knox Central. Large frame with athletic, strong present build; still projects as well. Ran 60 yard dash in 6.96 seconds. Sets up to hit from spread out, squared stance and high back elbow. Compact and direct swing path with good bat speed, flashes good power to the pull field and also showed ability to drive the ball the opposite way as well. Worked out impressively in the outfield, moves well to the ball and fields cleanly, has a hose of a right arm with OF velocity clocked up to 94 MPH with both tremendous carry and accuracy. Pitched as well, big rocker step back into high leg kick, coils at balance, throws from extended low three quarters arm slot. Ball jumps out of his hand, fastball worked 82-86 MPH and touched as high as 88 MPH with heavy riding life through zone. Showed slider with good sweeping action and some depth; also flashed changeup with fading action. Attacked hitters and can be dominant when in the zone. Named to 2016 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
