Leon Denena is a 2017 OF/C with a 5-8 160 lb. frame from College Station, TX who attends Bryan HS. Athletic frame with a younger look, projects well moving forward, shows present strength to frame and has addtional room to fill. Ran a 7.19 60-yard. Primary outfielder, takes short steps moving towards the ball, fields the ball out front, utilizes a short crow hop at start of release, long arm action through the back, occasionally gets under throws, finishes through the ball well. Compact arm action from behind the plate, lower half and footwork will continue to develop, shows quickness to actions and accuracy to throws down to second base. Righthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set in the box and uses a medium leg lift trigger for timing. Gets coiled well at start of swing, aggressive approach at the plate, loads weight on backside well, short shift through lower half. Uses and incorporates strength well, shows a feel for the barrel and able to generate jump coming off when squared. Very good student.
