Nicholas Toney is a 2018 C/OF, 3B, RHP with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Royal Palm Beach, FL who attends Royal Palm Beach. Large frame, athletic build with some present strength. Frame projects for additionals strength with maturity. Ran a 7.19 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher, low athletic set with solid hip flexion. Strides out while working through baseball, gaining ground to the bag. Quick, clean exchanges while working through transition into throwing position. Gets on top of baseball well with a short, compact arm action through release. Baseball has some carry out of hand producing on line, accurate throws. Topped at 80 mph with a top workout pop time of 1.94. Right handed hitter with a slightly open stance and high back elbow set. Extended, rotational swing plane through extension. Tends to close off to contact at times. Full swing path that produces some carry off the barrel when extended through contact. Showed solid jump off the barrel when squared to the gaps later in batting practice. Good student as well.
