Nickelas Atkins is a 2017 SS/2B with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Los Angeles, CA who attends Venice HS. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Right handed hitter with a straight, balanced stance and high back elbow set. Shows a loose, naturally lifted swing path and mid field approach. Flashed solid bat speed to all fields when trigger was on time. Good balance throughout swing with the ability to hit multiple pitch types throughout the zone. Worked out defensively from the infield showing a smooth three-quarters arm slot with solid arm strength. Throws created good carry across the infield with accuracy to the bag. Produces good momentum while working through the baseball with clean, quick glove to hand exchanges. Flashed range to both sides with clean, fundamental glove actions while on the move. Projectable middle infield tools with plus athletic ability. Tools with continue to improve with phsyical maturity and repetition. Good student. Named to 2016 Sunshine West Top Prospect List.
