Chase Patton is a 2018 C/2B with a 5-10 165 lb. frame from Prospect, KY who attends Saint Xavier. Medium frame with an athletic build. Projects for additional strength with conintue physical development. Ran a 6.96 sixty yard dash. Primary catcher, shows a low set with solid hip flexion while receiving. Soft, strong hands while framing the baseball. Fundamental footwork with up tempo actions while gaining ground to the bag. Quick, clean glove to hand exchanges while working through transition. Flashed solid arm strength while throwing with occasonal tail to the bag. Topped at 76 mph with a best workout pop time of 1.95. Right handed hitter with a spread, open stance and high back elbow set at load. Lower half fires to contact with linear actions creating solid shift. Occasional shift weight into a tall front side at contact. Shows present bat speed with a level, line drive plane through extension. Primarily uses a mid-field approach but flashed the barrel skills to hit to all fields at times. Baseball jumps off barrel to the gaps some when on time, power potential will continue to develop with continued lower half refinements. Good follow. Good student. Named to 2016 Ohio Valley Showcase Top Prospect List.
