James Starnes is a 2018 C/3B with a 5-11 175 lb. frame from Spring, TX who attends Oak Ridge HS. Medium frame with a strong and athletic build with broad shoulders and room to add in the future. Ran a 7.57 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Receives with soft hands out front. Quick feet when coming out of stance and through transfer. Actions are smooth and quick. Long arm circle with developing carry to throws to the base. Popped a 1.95 in workouts with throws topping out at 70 miles per hour. Lefthanded hitter with a slightly open stance. Utilizes a simple leg lift trigger for timing. Swings the bat with intent and has some strength to drive the ball. Pull side approach with a line drive bat plane. Hit tools to build upon. Good student as well.
