John Curtis is a 2018 RHP with a 6-2 170 lb. frame from Athens, TN who attends McMinn High School. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary righthanded pitcher, has moving parts to delivery prior to hand break, brings front knee to back knee and shows a short arm circle through the back working to a high three-quarters slot with a tight release. Shows simple mechanics out of the stretch, able to generate plane on fastball when down in the zone with short running life, topped out at 82 mph, has the ability to work to glove side. Will continue to refine a consistent release point, able to induce weak ground ball contact from the batters. Has a nice feel for the changeup, slows arm action slightly but creates deception with life up to 70 mph. Flashed a curveball, short 11-5 shape at 69 mph. Excellent student.
