Ryan Thompson is a 2017 1B/RHP with a 6-4 200 lb. frame from Kathleen, GA who attends Perry HS. Has an extra large frame, big, strong body, clear sign of present strength in build. Posted a 7.57 60-yard dash. Primary first basemen, developing actions and footwork, good arm strength on accurate throws across the diamond topping out as high as 83 MPH. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with an upright stance and small bat wrap. Showed a short, compact swing while having a gap to gap approach at the plate. Swings on a line drive swing plane, consistent barrels, good barrel whip. Will see even more loud contact as he further develops consistency to his rhythm. On the mound, right-handed pitcher that throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with long arm action and a long arm circle through the back. Faster paced delivery, high leg lift up to the chest, good lower half incorporation, gets extension out front. Fastball has sharp downhill plane, produces weak contact when down in the zone. Curveball has 12/6 shape with good depth. Excellent student.
