Justin Torres is a 2016 SS/OF, 2B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Dumont, NJ who attends Dumont HS. Medium, athletic build with a lean, projectable frame and room to fill out, has present strength throughout. Ran a 7.36 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front, glove plays fielding the ball, comes through it well, gets on top of throws, longer release, shows strength across that plays on left side and athleticism charging in. Tight release from the outfield, sound defensive mechanics and repeats them well, gathers well behind the ball and works through it, shows strength and carry to bag. Right-handed hitter, starts with high hand set and a simple approach at the plate, high leg lift trigger for timing. Upper body swing, short and quick path with a consistent feel for the barrel. Nice bat speed through the zone, comes off well when squared and creates hard contact to the pull side. Very good student.
