Tony Garcia III is a 2016 C/RHP with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Highland, CA who attends Rancho Cucamonga HS. Medium frame with leanness to athletic build, has plenty of room to grow into body and add strength. Switch hitter, starts with open stance, closes well in weight shift and gets online at contact point. Shows some bat speed and looseness from the left side, a bit less consistent from the right side, but shows ability to use entire field and work gaps from either side of batter's box. Primary catcher, has a quick transfer and flashes developing arm strength. Best pop time of 1.90 seconds, still has developing footowork. Also pitches, long arm action working to an extended, low 3/4 arm slot. Stays tall on backside in delivery and uses lower half well. Fastball up to 79 mph, works in a sweeping breaking ball with good depth, shows good command of both and aggressive approach. Excellent student.
