Quinlan Sweany is a 2019 RHP/SS with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Vacaville, CA who attends Vacaville Christian Schools. Large frame with broad shoulder, long limbs and an athletic build. Projects for additional size and strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced, side step delivery. Stays tall and balanced at gather with a high leg lift. Works to the plate with tall and fall actions, worked over front side well producing solid downhill angle to the plate. Hides baseball well at take back at released from a three-quarters slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing heavy run to arm side in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Slider flashed varying tilt with tight spin and late sweep in the mid 70's. Consistently pounded the strike zone with the feel for both pitched to work to each edge of the plate consistently. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing aggressive footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with developing fluidity through transition. Released from a compact three-quarter arm slot producing accurate carry across the infield, topped at 82 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and deep hand load. Loose, extended path to contact with an uphill barrel plane through extension. Flashed good strength at contact with the ability to lift the ball through each gap. Consistently squared throughout batting practice and game play producing hard, loud contact. Excellent student. Named to the 2017 NorCal Showcase Top Prospect List.
