John Murphy is a 2015 RHP with a 6-4 225 lb. frame from Merchantville, NJ who attends Gloucester Catholic HS. Big strong athletic build. High leg raise delivery, compact arm circle that hides the ball well, high 3/4's arm slot, works downhill and gets on top of the ball. Fastball topped at 92 mph, gets good cutting action at times, has slider potential. Change up is his best secondary pitch, has deception with cutting action as well. Big breaking 12/6 downer curveball has good depth and shape, can improve power on his curveball. Has a presence on the mound and some projection left to his stuff. Good student, verbal commitment to Maryland.
