Nicolas Rivera is a 2029 1B/RHP/3B with a 5-9 158 lb. frame from Nutley, NJ who attends Nutley. Medium, square shouldered frame with a high waist and a lean build with room to fill throughout. Ran an 8.10 60-yard dash. Primary first baseman, moves well on feet away from the bag with balance, fields it out front and glove plays cleanly, shows some quickness to feet on the pivot, accurate throws with arm strength and carry that will continue to develop. Also pitched, short and compact leg lift at start of delivery, works into a shorter arm stroke with a high three-quarters release. Fastball topped out at 69 mph, has some occasional sinking action through the zone and worked around it well. Flashed a curveball up to 59 mph, inconsistent shape but turned over changeup well. Right-handed hitter, begins with a wide base and utilizes a big toe tap trigger for timing. Loads hands back at start and stays short through the release, linear to downward path in the zone. Gets rotational in swing and will unlock more strength with additional lower half, able to work to all fields with contact, occasional line drive carry when squared, 80 mph exit velocity in testing.
