2025 PG Mid-Atlantic Uncommitted Prospect Showcase
Derek Rice is a 2026 SS/RHP/3B with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Parish, NY who attends Altmar-Parish-Williamstown. Medium athletic build with good present strength. 7.31 runner in the sixty. Primary shortstop on defense, has a quick first step and covers ground well, throws from a higher slot and gets on top of his throws well, plenty of carry across, can get rushed at times and is best playing under control, has the tools to stay in the middle of the field. Right handed hitter, sets up in a straight stance with a pre-wrapped hand load, rotational swing with some bat speed, showed his juice when on time, gap to gap contact. Took a turn on the mound, has a low leg raise delivery with a high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 83 mph with some ride up and good run down. Also threw a gradual sweeping curveball in the mid-60's. Excellent student. Named to the PG Mid-Atlantic Uncommitted Prospect Showcase Top Prospect List.
