Colton Smith is a 2029 C/RHP/1B with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Liberty Twp, OH who attends IMG Academy. Medium athletic build with good strength for his age and more to come. Right handed hitter, sets up in a high hand stance with an inward toe tap timer, uphill swing path, swings hard and creates bat speed, showed his impact and ability to lift well. 7.06 runner in the sixty. Primary catcher on defense, sets up left knee down, has pocket awareness and works up through the ball well, quick exchange and release, made accurate in game throws, solid fundamentals and athleticism defensively, just needs more arm strength. Also pitched, works from the stretch with a loose arm swing and whippy 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 83 mph to go with a sweeping slurve type breaking ball. Good student.
