Sam Maclaughlin is a 2024 LHP/1B/OF with a 6-1 170 lb. frame from Toronto, ON who attends Humberside C.I.. Projectable, young frame with slender build, long levers and plenty of room to add strength. Recorded a 7.17 second sixty-yard dash time. Primary left-handed pitcher that worked from a simple, repeatable delivery with good rhythm and tempo. Fastball worked steadily in the low-80s with life out of the hand and topped out at 84 mph from a loose three-quarters arm slot. Changes tempos effectively to create some deception, showed ability to land breaking ball for strikes and has the aptitude to manipulate shape to it. Strike thrower with tons of velocity upside and real feel for pitching, sequences well and will continue to improve with additional velocity. Secondary outfielder with aggressive actions into the fielding process. Fields cleanly off his front, gathers cleanly and works into transition with tons of energy. Maintains momentum into release and recorded arm strength up to 81 mph during drills. Left-handed hitter that hits from an upright, open stance with a tight hand set, high back elbow and a hanging leg lift trigger. Incorporates slight drift into contact and exhibits a scissor-kick lower half move to launch. Gap-to-gap approach with intriguing quickness to his hands and feel for the barrel. Generates tons of whip to his barrel and displayed loud impact when on-time. Burgeoning power potential to the pullside and will continue to expand upon it as he gains strength. Twitchy two-way prospect with tons of upside on both sides of the baseball. Good Student. Named to the 2022 Northeast Academic Top Prospect List.

Swing Efficiency™
Swing Efficiency™ is a score from 0-100 based on how fast you move your body compared to other players of a similar height and weight. Our library of over 10,000 hitters shows that for a given body type, higher swing efficiencies generate higher exit velos. PG All-American Arjun Nimmala may only weigh 170 lbs, but he can still hit 103MPH off a tee thanks to his elite Swing Efficiency™.
