Lucas Byrd is a 2028 1B/3B with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Pfafftown, NC who attends Reagan. Larger frame with a sturdy build and power oriented actions. Ran the 60 yard dash in 8.55 seconds. First baseman, moving comfortably around the bag and showing an understanding of the footwork and pivot into throws. Emerging first step quickness and overall range, covering ground and making plays. Accurate with the glove but can soften the action as he secures the ball and can refine the slow roller play. Feeds around the diamond up to 63 mph. RHH starting with an inline stance, good handset with some barrel lilt as he loads and simple stride to get moving. Some length to his path to impact with developing feel for the barrel. Really handles the ball down in the zone, showing big leverage and the ball jumps off the barrel here. Better timing as the BP round progressed and displayed the ability to carry the ball through the pull side gap with ease. Good student as well.
