2029 Top Prospects
Brennan Finegan  OF - 2029 - Clovis, CA

Brennan showed one of the better overall skillsets of this Gateway group. Quality actions in the OF, working with aggressiveness, fielding it clean and getting off accurate throws. At the plate, there’s flashes of hand speed and decent strength especially to the pull side where he produced multiple LDs both during BP and in gameplay. Also jumped on the mound and pounded zone with a low-mid 70s fastball and slurvy low 60s breaker where he got a ton of weak contact.

Mason Finegan  OF - 2029 - Clovis, CA

Mason, like his brother, stood out in many facets throughout the weekend. Fundamental actions in the OF with a longer AA that got off easy downhill accurate throws. Offensively, he swung it with out front intent showing quality bat speed and impacted it well to the pull side both in BP and in-game. Was a stand out on the mound as well, working in the upper 70s with his fastball while landing a sharp downer upper 60s breaker.

Jessy Chima  SS - 2029 - Sacramento, CA

Chima was one of the better performing bats we saw this past weekend. Operates from a crouched stance and uses a simple forward move into launch. Gets off his backside well and shows strength to the hands that deliver the barrel on a direct path with some length through contact. Impacted the baseball to the pull side with a couple XBHs into left during gameplay.

2030 Top Prospects
Emmit Vergara  OF - 2030 - San Bruno, CA

Emmit showed off skills in many different areas last weekend. Ran a 7.13 60-yd dash and showed athleticism in the OF where he got through it pretty well with aggressiveness and got off accurate downhill throws to the bag. At the plate, showed a smooth RH stroke that is still developing bat speed but works on a clean path and that found a couple knocks in-game. Had some command trouble on the mound, but did flash arm talent running it up to 79 with the fastball.

Emilio Vergara  OF - 2030 - San Bruno, CA

Emilio was one of the better athletes of the Gateway group. Ran a 7.04 60-yd dash which translated to quality actions in the OF where he worked to and through the baseball well and got off accurate 1-2 hop throws to the bag. At the plate, showed good barrel feel within a simple stroke where the barrel works on a clean path through. Collected three hits in his two games.

Jacob Barrozo  C - 2030 - San Bruno, CA

Barrozo put together a fine defensive workout but really stood out at the plate. Put together a solid BP where he was on-barrel a majority of his round showing a simple/direct LH stroke. The swing translated into gameplay where he sent a double into the oppo gap in Game 1 and followed it up with two GB singles back up the middle in Game 2.
