South (Columbia Blue) vs USA (Red) Game Highlights

8/11/2024

Joshua Priest (2027 OF, San Diego, CA) found himself a loud barrel to pull for a base-hit. High profile athlete who gets it done on both sides of the ball. Ripped a double down the line later in the game. 

Genis Lopez Jr (2027 OF, Simpsonville, SC) smoked a ball to pull for a single in his first ab of the game. Stays short to it and controls the zone well. Has showed a lot of good things to like this weekend. 

Juan Pablo Altamirano (2027 RHP, Queen Creek, AZ) found a loud barrel to right-center for a base-hit in game. Physical frame and everything comes off the barrel hard. Can impact it with authority to all fields.

James Wasson (2027 RHP, Hinsdale, IL) went 2 strong innings on 4ks. Fastball worked up to 87 and lived low-80s with late life. Went to a slider with late biting sweep and got plenty of whiffs with it. Throws from a lower slot creating tough angles for hitters.

Landon Martinez (2027 SS, Spring, TX) found another loud barrel today in game action with a loud single to pull. Has an ultra quick set of hands which produces a ton of bat speed. Can turn on anything inside and lets the ball travel trusting his hands.

Payne Hotman (2027 OF, Tyler, TX) worked up to 88 off the bump and lived mid-80s throughout his outing with late ride through the zone. Mixed in a change as a good change of speeds in the upper-70s. Kept hitters off balance with more in the tank.  

J.W. Powell (2027 RHP, Allen, TX) went 3 no-hit frames on 2ks today and filled up the zone. Fastball worked up to 85 and lived around there with big sinking action. Velo plays up from a full arm swing. Went to a shorter slider with bite as well.

East (Green) vs National (Orange) Game Highlights

8/11/2024

Carter Hullett (2027 C, Brentwood, TN) pieced a ball up the other way for a double in game action. Has a strong lower half and adjusts well to the ball in the zone. Can definitely impact it with authority to all fields. Found another barrel later on in the game to cap off a 2-hit day. Also pitched working up to 83 and missed barrels. 

Luke Weatherly (2027 C, Jonesboro, AR) put together a pair of quality abs on the day and got awarded with 2-hits. Also showed a lot to like off the bump striking out 4 over 2 innings of work. Fastball lived in the upper-80s hitting 89 consistently with big life. Went to a tight slider at 81-83 that he could locate. Also mixed in a curve with healthy 12-6 shape and depth. 

Caden Mackey (2027 OF, Southlake, TX) had a quality outing and showed a lot of things to like with good projection. Fastball worked up to 85 with late tailing life from the left side. Creates tough angles for hitters as fastball gets in quick. Also dropped in a curve at 70-72 with depth.

William McIntire (2027 RHP, Boyd, TX) looked every bit the part off the bump going 2 dominant frames on 2ks. Quality 4-pitch mix with feel for it all. Filled up the zone and really knows how to pitch. Fastball worked up to 86 and lived around there with late life. Went to a tight slider with late bite in the upper-70s. Dropped in a curve with depth. Could also kill spin on the change and locate it. Pitch-ability really does stand out here. 

Cameron Miller (2027 3B, Nixa, MO) worked up to 87 from a quick arm off the bump. Went to a short/tight slider at 73-77 with late bite and could drop it in. Also mixed in a curve with more depth to it. Produced whiffs on all 3 pitches and filled up the zone a good bit. 

Matthew Villena (2027 C, Pembroke Pines, FL) showed a good approach in game action with innate bat to ball skills. Has a short swing with quick hands and gets on plane consistently. Stays balanced throughout the process with good rhythm to it.

Cooper Goff (2027 OF, Herriman, UT) continues to piece together quality abs while also living on the barrel. Has been a tough out all weekend with a smooth lefty swing that stays short to it.

Beau Bruns (2027 C, Hoschton, GA) had a nice 2-hit game piecing together quality abs. He works the count and controls the zone well with a powerful swing. 

JJ Utash (2027 OF, Bosque Farms, NM) was up to 85 off the bump from a quick arm. Could locate well and filled up the zone. Slider at 71-74 with more late biting sweep to it. Went to a curve at 68-70 with more top to bottom shape to it and good depth. Could drop it in for strikes. Pretty physical frame with a lot more in the tank and projects well. Utash struck out 5 over 2 strong innings of work. 

National (Orange) vs USA (Red) Game Highlights

Ace Sapp (2027 OF, Las Vegas, NV) torched a ball to right for a base-hit. Has a quick bat with barrel whip through the zone. High ceiling athlete who does a lot of things well. 

Luke Samples (2027 RHP, Durham, NC) worked up to 86 throughout his outing and could locate well around the edges. Tunnels a nasty slider at 72-74 with late biting sweep. Also mixed in a curve with depth and healthy 10-4 shape. Could land or bury the slider. Lengthy frame with long limbs and projects really well. 

Landon Martinez (2027 SS, Spring, TX) barreled a ball to deep left for a double in game action. Hands adjust well with quickness producing plenty of bat speed. Has looked the part on both sides of the ball.

Jesse Garza (2027 RHP, Pharr, TX) had a nice outing showing off an impressive 4-pitch mix. Fastball worked up to 85 with really good life to it and could elevate it effectively. Went to a tighter slider at 71-74 and could land it. Mixed in a change that he could kill spin on as well. Physical frame with plenty more in the tank. 

Jackson Wilcox (2027 RHP, Montgomery, TX) working with a quality 3-pitch mix. Fastball lived mid-80s T87 with life. Compact frame with a quick arm and projects for more. Went to a depthy curve in the low-70s that he could land. Also flashed a change in the mid-70s. Filled up the zone and forced weak contact throughout his outing. Finished 3 shutout innings on 5ks. 

Brendan Freeman (2027 RHP, McKinney, TX) flashed some electric stuff throughout his outing working up to 88 and comes out easy. Went to a short/tight slider in the mid-70s (2700 RPM) that he could land at times. Projectable frame with more in the tank and missed barrels consistently. 

Amari Reynolds (2027 SS, Gresham, OR) found a loud barrel to pull in game action. Has a smooth lefty swing with plenty of bat speed and stays on the ball well. Can impact it when on plane.

Cole Ryherd (2027 SS, Overland Park, KS) adjusted to a ball up in the zone and shot it the other way for a double. Short swing with quick hands. Gets out of the box and runs well. Good athlete overall who has looked the part on both sides of the ball 

Cooper Goff (2027 OF, Herriman, UT) found a couple of barrels throughout the day. Has a smooth lefty swing with a clean weight transfer. Showed plenty of feel for the barrel and was all over it.

South (Columbia Blue) vs East (Green) Game Highlights

Juan Pablo Altamirano (2027 RHP, Queen Creek, AZ) came out the gate throwing absolute gas working up to 91 (2347 RPM) with late life and living upper-80s. Located the fastball well around the edges of the zone working East to West mainly. Works fast with tempo. Went to a tight slider at 71-74 (2450 RPM) with late bite and could land it. Could also kill spin on the change. Physical power arm projection. Altamirano finished his quick 3-innings of work with 5ks. Also ripped a ball to pull for a loud single in game. 

JJ Utash (2027 OF, Bosque Farms, NM) made a nice diving play on a sinking liner out in right field. Gets good reads and has the speed to get it done. Also  clobbered a ball to dead center for a loud double. Has a powerful swing with big impact out in front. Adjusts well to the ball in the box. 

Joshua Priest (2027 OF San Diego, CA) found himself a barrel back up the middle for a base-hit. Short swing with a ton of bat speed and swings with intent in the box. 

Carson Sosebee (2027 C, Dawsonville, GA) ripped a line drive single to pull in his first ab of the game. Has a short swing with quick hands and showed good feel for the barrel. 

Bear Calvo (2027 SS, Fullerton, CA) absolutely pummeled a ball to the RCF gap for a rbi double. Has one of the sweetest right handed strokes you'll see at this age with plenty of juice off the barrel. 

Luis Carlos Cruz (2027 C, Oviedo, FL) found a barrel the other way for a base-hit in game action showing really good ability to adjust and go with it. 

Luke Gladchuk (2027 OF, Willow Park, TX) roped a ball to pull for a double in game action. Stays short to it with a quick set of hands and can clear the hips well. 

Jayden Cunningham (2027 1B, Freeport, FL) absolutely pieced a ball to the RCF gap that came off hot. Big physical lefty with immense power projection.

Genis Lopez Jr. (2027 OF, Simpsonville, SC) worked up to 86 (2449) with late tailing life. Clean arm action from a steep slot. Went to a tight tilting slider at 73-75 (2389 RPM) with late bite and could land it. Highly projectable with plenty more in the tank. Also found a barrel to left for a base-hit in game. 

Cameron Miller (2027 3B, Nixa, MO) has put on a clinic out on the dirt showing clean actions with footwork. He then proceeded to smoke a base-hit to center in game action. Has a quick bat with a ton of feel for the barrel and has been all over it. 

William "Cohen" Tyre (2027 SS, Jesup, GA) worked up to 87 off the bump with good life to it and showed a lot of things to like. Went to a tight slider at 76-79 with late bite and could bury it.

Ray Kim (2027 SS, Syosset, NY) had a nice outing working up to 85 and located well. Tunnels a looping slider in the low-70s well off his fastball. Could mix and match and has an idea on how to sequence.

2024 Class of 2027 All-American Games Batting Practice Highlights

Ace Sapp (2027 Las Vegas, NV) loud power potential with ability to backspin and impact the ball hard. Huge physical projection here and the right handed juice is simply loud. 

 

Drew Cross (2027 Mount Pleasant, TX) peppered balls to all fields heavy hands with ability to get into strength out front. On barrel all round super hitterish look in the box. 

 

Payne Hotman (2027 Tyler, TX) super fast hands and sound up the middle approach. Fires in short window, big intent in path that should translate with maturity. 

 

Gramm Davis (2027 Midlothian, TX) super physical in box, heavy hands ability to leverage from both sides. Sounds different off his barrel, it simply jumps and power plays. 

 

Jayden Cunningham (2027, Freeport, FL) super athletic with quick hands and stayed short too long. Sprayed it all over the yard and the hands speed stood out. 

 

Carson Sosebee (2027, Dawsonville, GA) big ability to get out front and produce strength. Impact off barrel stood out, ball really jumps at impact here. 

 

Joshua Priest (2027, San Diego, CA) all kinds of quick twitch muscle with thump to the pull side. Whips barrel with ease, comes off loud at impact and the hit tool stood out. 

 

Brooks Stella (2027, Perry, GA) easy left-handed swing with ability to work short to long. Was on the barrel all round and even got the head out and pulled some with backspin. 

 

Bear Calvo (2026, Fullerton, CA) such a pretty right-handed swing with big hip shoulder separation. Creates effortless lag through the zone, bat speed and whip to barrel. 

 

Maddux Lessard (2027 Muskego, WI) some of the best juice on display and flirted with leaving the yard multiple times. Tons of length and ability to leverage barrel out front. Easy impact and carry to pull. 

 

Landon Martinez (2027 Spring, TX) super athletic round with feel for the barrel. Staying short too long getting extended through contact. Wiry strength and very fast hands. 

 

Quincy Pratt (2027 Oxford MS) such easy strength and impact to the hands. Great lift to path and forward move works in rhythm. Top hand barrel control and juice really shows. 

 

Jake Shoemaker (2027 Round Rock TX) bit whip to barrel from the left side, hard line drives to the pull side and even sprayed a few the other way. Physical in box and turns it over. 

 

Grant Stafford (2027 Lufkin TX) all over the barrel in his round with a smooth lefty swing. Ability to get head out and impact it, sound all fields approach and produced backspin to the pull side too. 

 

Carlos Luiz Cruz (2027 Oviedo FL) wiry switch hitter with quick hands from both sides. Comfy, relaxed setup and lets the hands work at the plate. Whippy finish and looks the part athletically. 

 

Carter Hullett (2027 Brentwood TN) all over the barrel in his round. Big left-handed bat speed and gets into both halves to gain some ground force. Big traits to build upon. 

 

Ray Kim (2027 Syosset, NY) clears his backside and goes the other way with ease. Big impact to the oppo gap and sprayed it a bit all over the field. Heavy. Hands and power shows, big torque to finish. 

 

Cameron Miller (2027 Nixa MO) loads of lift and backspin to the path. Has big strength in his round and sprayed it to the pull side gap. Good blend of hit/power here. 

 

Genis Lopez Jr (2027 Simpsonville SC) hit the absolute tar out of the ball at points with huge lefty juice. Different jump off his bat and it carries to deepest parts of the yard, big physical tools. 

 

Quinn Peck (2027 Bristow VA) sprayed the right center gap with ease and ability to get the head out in space. Great rhythm with short parts and huge bat speed to build upon. 

 

JJ Utash (2027 Bosque Farms NM) wiry strength to build upon and already getting into some strength. Great impact and sound up the middle approach, really quick hands at plate. 

 

Luke Weatherley (2027 Jonesboro, AR) was all over the barrel in his round and sprayed it to all fields. Great extension out front, makes space and has serious jump off the bat. 

 

Juan Diaz (2027 Hialeah FL) impressive round with short compact swing and easy bat speed to build upon. Short to long, tight window and sprayed it to all fields looked composed in the box. 

 

Cooper Goff (2027 Herriman UT) left-handed bat screams projection with ability to whip barrel out front. Loose hands out front and leverages his front side some, the power upside here is huge. 

 

Dominic Naylor (2027 Cedar Park TX) spayed the pull side gap with ease and the power just jumps off the page at points. Nearly left the yard on several occasions and gains tons of force from ground up. 

 

Kaden Paris (2027 Oakley CA) awfully simple swing and slows things down at the plate. Great poise and feel works to all fields, comfy up the middle approach and quick hands out front in space. 

 

Matthew Villena (2027 Pembroke Pines FL) enticing right-handed juice that sprayed balls to the pull side. Big backspin and carry with high impact out front. Loads of strength to build upon.
