3-Gold Game Highlights

6/14/2023

Dalton Crisp (2024 LHP, Cumming, GA) worked three really nice and easy frames, striking out six without surrendering a single hit. The pitchability and physicality is real from the 6'4/215 southpaw who dotted up the zone with comfort and proved he could land his entire mix for strikes. Crisp cuts the heater nicely in the zone that gets on the hands of RHH and tunnels his hard slurvy curveball off of that. The change rounds off the mix with fade and some depth. Crisp looks extremely comfortable on the bump and it's easy to think there is more in there down the road.

Jack Reichlin (2024 C, Exton, PA) proved he can stick behind the dish long term with real catch and throw skills with a solid arm down to second. He barreled up multiple offerings this weekend including a scorched LD that split the RCF gap that could have easily been a three bagger. Interesting stuff here with Reichlin who is a solid ballplayer and can easily contribute to a program at the next level. Looks comfortable handling the stick with plus actions behind the dish as a whole; solid well rounded toolset.

Nico Tozzi (2024 OF, Glen Mills, PA) collected himself a couple of hits in game action today, seemingly always getting the barrel on the baseball. He has an all fields approach and using his entire body extremely well in the swing to generate energy up the chain. Tozzi can move some on the paths too with... decent hit tool here with bat to ball skills.

Jaylen White (2024 OF, Corona, CA) really impressed off some velo in game, taking 86 to opposite field with two strikes. Really simplified the process nicely; also barreled up a first pitch heater and scorched a LD through the pull side for another knock. Solid athlete with some jump off the barrel, keeps the process short and direct in there while working quality at-bats.

Jorge Gil (2024 3B, Cypress, TX) blasted a three run moonshot down the pullside line, getting every stitch of a center cut heater and not missing it. Gil was on the barrel all event long and finally got rewarded for it in the form of a homer; barreled up a ton of baseballs that didn't find the grass but displayed hitterish actions in general after putting on a solid BP performance. Consistent performer who can easily contribute at the next level in the box.

2-Green Game Highlights

6/14/2023

Derrick Pitts (2024 OF, St. Louis, MO) smoked a triple to the gap and flexed his 6.75 speed all the way around the bases. The athleticism here is undeniable as there are a ton of quick twitch fibers in the body for Pitts. He would make a spectacular full extension on the run diving grab in left field as well that wowed everybody in attendance. There are ballplayer tendencies to match the already plus plus athlete that Pitts currently is.... the projection is pretty immense here.

Steele Marshall (2024 RHP, Defuniak Springs, FL) collected multiple knocks over game action this weekend, showing off a strong rotational cut that functions well for him. He flashed some above average raw power as well in his BP round, spraying some hard contact and flashing it to the pull side. Also got up to 83-mph on the bump while utilizing his curve and change piece effectively.

Raphael Lantigua (2024 OF, Québec, QC) showed off a ton of intriguing stuff in his weekend at National Uncommitted. He ran a sub 7 with a 94+ arm from the OF and upper 80s exit velos... there are tools in the shed here. He caught loud barrels all event long with little to show for it, but there are things in place to really project on. It will be interesting to see where Lantigua is at at the end of the summer.

1-Columbia Blue Game Highlights

6/14/2023

Dalen Boykin (2024 RHP, Zebulon, NC) absolutely cruised through three innings of work, going 3 IP with six K's and zero hits allowed. He has a true four pitch mix; the fastball gets nice carry at the top of the zone and he had success locating that with consistency (up to 86). 11/5 curve and sweeper SL mixed in with consistent and unique shape, also flashed a change on occasion. Serious pitchability here, knows how to mix and sequence while getting the most out of his fastball right now.

Carmelo Jones (2024 OF, Douglasville, GA) picked up two doubles on the day, the first being a perfectly executed hit and run through the open 4 hole. Really showed some underway speed and hustled out the extra base. The next 2B was a shot deep down the PS line for a 2B that found itself in the corner. Very solid showing from Jones on the second day of games here.

Christopher Hartley II (2024 RHP, Cameron, WV) bumped 90-mph early on in his start, showing off an impressive little mix as well as a massive 6'5/205 frame that has projection left. Hartley was humming it in there early on, getting whiffs on the the heater and working the glove side nicely with some comfort. The heater got occasional late arm side run; he flashed an 11/5 curveball for whiffs and proved he could land it as well as a lateral slider with a touch of late depth. Flashed a firmer CH as well; all kinds of D1 projection in this arm.

3- Gold Game Highlights

6/13/2023

Alex Digiacinto (2024 3B, Richmond Hill, ON) caught multiple barrels in game after an impressive round of batting practice where he sprayed liners all over the yard. It's a very simple and connected process with a direct linear path that features some bat speed. Showed an ability to pick up on spin out of the hand as well, sitting back on a first pitch curve, decelerating the process and sitting back before barreling it up through the pull side.

Seth Laureano (2024 3B, New York, NY) displayed a lot of projectable actions up the middle with the leather all day long. The hands are crisp and soft out front with quick funnels/transfer that let the arm play up. Accurate arm with above average footwork that will play anywhere in the infield. Also collected himself a nice barrel in game for a knock, shows some strength out front when he gets extended and keeps both halves in sync.

Wesley Calloway (2024 1B, Atlanta, GA) was all over the barrel in game today regardless of velocity, turning over liners to all fields for multiple base hits. He has a good approach in the box looking to be selective and do damage. Moves well for the size with a solid arm across the diamond as well.

Tait Karlson (2024 RHP, Ramona, CA) worked three frames of one hit baseball on the slope, punching out a pair in the process. Karlson ran the heater up to 88-mph early with nasty sink and run traits. He paired this with a slurvy breaking ball that varied in shape but had mostly vertical depth at its best for whiffs. Flashed a change in the arsenal as well, but had success with the fastball working the zone laterally and did not have to stray too much from that gameplan for success. XL frame with strength, pitchability is there as well.

Justin Wood (2024 RHP, Winnetka, IL) punched out four over his three innings of work, showing off a solid little arsenal and lots of physical projection with the arm speed and 6'6/185 frame. Wood creates solid downhill plane on his mix with an OTT slot, working north/south mostly with his mix. Bumped 84-mph on the heater and lived low 80's throughout, spun a 12/6 curveball he could spot in the bottom half of the zone with some consistency as well. Mixed in a changeup as well that had slight fade. Projects with more arm speed and size, has a definite idea on the slope.

Cameron King (2024 SS, Barnesville, GA) continues to impress here in the '23 circuit as a raw, toolsy athlete. He would get two innings of work today and would punch out three with scattering a pair of hits. It's a very lean and athletic build right now with room for more, featuring a loose and clean arm action. He touched 83-mph on the heater while throwing his 11-5 curveball for strikes with comfort. King has arm talent that translates everywhere on the field; interesting follow moving forward.

2- Green Game Highlights

6/13/2023

Adam Hess (2024 1B, Greensburg, PA) showed off plus hand speed and control of the barrel head with a couple of strong pieces in game action. The corner infielder brings a nice blend of mobility for the spot as well as strength, posting exit velocities up to 87-mph. Solid actions around the bag as well, competent defender with solid actions in general all over.

Rodiensley Ignecia (2024 RHP, Springfield, MA) punched out four over 3 innings of work in what was a very nice little coming out party for Ignecia. The lean, athletic arm worked his four seam fastball up to 90-mph on multiple occasions and operated with it in the high 80s, carrying up in the zone well and getting plenty of whiffs when in the zone. Showed two distinct breaking balls; a mid 70s curve that was seldom used but had 11-5 shape when spun properly and a short, tight slider ~80 with late lateral action. A change piece rounded out the arsenal at 81 with solid feel while keeping the slot/arm speed identical to rest of mix.

Jack Lloyd (2024 MIF, Cumming, GA) was impressive on both ends of the ball, showing very advanced and clean actions out at short with an arm that touched 90-mph across. It's a strong, more compact looking build but Lloyd handles the left side of the infield well. In the box, he utilizes and all fields approach with line drive tendencies, being selective in his swing decisions and finding the barrel more often than not.

Ty Mainolfi (2024 SS, Staten Island, NY) strung together multiple quality at-bats in game while playing a very smooth shortstop. Ballplayer tendencies; lean athletic frame with room for more, has a very well segmented and fluid left-handed stroke with solid barrel accuracy. Showed ability in game to drop the slot across the middle and throw on a dime as well. Just a very solid overall showing from Mainolfi.

Steele Marshall (2024 RHP, Defuniak Springs, FL) surrendered just one hit in his three frames of work, punching out three in the process. Lot of interesting components on the bump for Marshall given the strength in the frame. He bumped 83 on the gun a couple times with the heater that got slight ASR at times while flashing a more slurvy breaking ball in the mid 60s. Has shown a change piece as well before; interesting follow moving forward as there is stuff to tweak and project on.

1- Columbia Blue Game Highlights

6/13/2023

Fiztgerald Barranco Villanueva (2024 SS, Springfield, MA) looked the part out at shortstop during in game action, translating one of the best rounds of infield over to the game side. The body is already plus with athletic, well proportioned strength throughout. The arm produces accurate throws with good carry and the hands are soft with crisp footwork in the 6 hole.

Howard "Trey" Bartee III (2024 OF/3B, Missouri City, TX) was crafty on the slope, working his fastball in the zone with some gradual sink at the bottom to create weak contact and grounders over the course of his appearance. Struck out two in the process; also found a couple of knocks in the game to the pull side and centerfield.

JJ Howe (2024 OF, Bonaire, GA) found some barrels in game and consistently worked quality at-bats in every showing. Howe showed advanced feel for the strikezone and can pick up on spin out of the hand early. The athleticism is plus (6.65 runner) with an arm that touched 90-mph across the diamond from 1B. Lot of tools in the shed here with a strong, lean frame to build off of.

Jack Shaeffer (2024 RHP, West Lafayette, IN) bumped an 86 early on with the four seam and operated low 80s, mixing in a low 70s slider and more depthy upper 60s curveball as well. Flashed a sole changeup at 78, more firm shape but it's in the arsenal and can be utilized in game. Really worked the glove side with comfort from a stretch only operation. Showed an interesting high 70s cutter as we got in the back of his start; multiple hits in game as well. Real bat speed and strength here.

Gavin Hickey (2024 C, Irving, TX) showed off real in game actions behind the dish that translated from the workout, where he would post a 2.01 pop and 78-mph down. It's a strong build with feel for blocking up in the dirt and controlling the run game; strength translates in the box as well with exit velos up to 93-mph.
