6 - White vs 1 - Gold Game Highlights

2/27/2022

Cole Johnson (26, LHP/1B, San Antonio, TX) used his projectable frame and quickness to collect three hits on the day. The young left-handed hitter showed off some pop during a plate appearance and was able to hit a rocket over the right-fielders head for a double. Johnson has a fluid and easy stroke. 

Nico Martinez (27, IF/OF, De Soto, KS) had a good day at the plate. He was able to collect two hits and two runs batted in. The switch-hitting utility player has a simple approach at the plate and uses his hands well to get the barrel to the ball. There is some slight lift at contact as well. Right now, he has the ability to hit from both sides of the plate as he matures. 

Ripken Birdwell (26, IF/OF, Hooks, TX) showed some strength to his swing and made some good contact out front on the day. He was able to find a strong barrel for a triple to right-field. He sports a 5'11, 165-pound frame.

Logan Santos (26,RHP/UT, Cypress, TX) was able to run his fastball up to 76 mph and strike out the three hitters he faced on the day. He generated plenty of swings-and-misses with his fastball/cutter mix. The cutter had tight spin and was up to 69 MPH. 

Jaxon Dickey (27, RHP/OF, Gladewater, TX) is one of the younger prospects at the showcase. He showcased his talents on the mound during his two innings of work. He was very effective on 18 pitches. He threw 77% strikes and struck out three while allowing no hits. He ran his FB up to 75 mph and used his breaking ball at 65 mph to keep the hitters off balance. The future is bright for Dickey and looks to add more velocity down the road. 

Fletcher Berry (27, RHP/UT, Nederland, TX) showed some promise on the mound. The young 13 year old was able to punch out three in two innings of work on 22 pitches. He ran his fastball up to 76 mph while flashing a CB at 65 mph.

Spencer Browning (26, MIF/RHP, Texarkana, TX) showed his talents and why he is committed to Arkansas. Browning was able to collect two hits and an RBI at the plate. There is some strength thats already present along with the ability to barrel of baseballs often. On the mound he was able to run his FB up to 78 mph while flashing a 69 mph CB. He would strikeout two along the way.

Matthew Johnson (26, MIF/SS, Orange, TX) was able to collect three hits on the day. He used a simple swing at the plate and made solid contact at the plate. Johnson showed a knack for getting on base. 

2-Green vs. 3-Maroon Game Highlights

2/27/2022

Julian Suarez (2027 C, Sinton, TX) posted a multi-hit game including a well-connected double burning left field. Solid showing at the plate from Suarez following his intriguing look in batting practice and finish strong in game and flashing an effective run tool. 

Jackson Peyton (2027 OF, Baton Rouge, LA) barreled up an early double in the left center gap. Stayed on plane and did a good job catching contact out front for a solid base hit.

Bryce Hanna (2026 3B, Lone Tree, CO) shows off an easy inside-out swing taking a 2 RBI rope the other. Hanna finished up with a multi-hit game and an excellent day producing runs.

Marcus Cantu (2026 SS, Friendswood, TX) has quality tools showing plenty to like down the road. He can impact both sides of the game with a sure glove and some quickness in the field, and held a strong offensive performance showing good IQ on the bases. 

Matthew McClenan (2026 3B, San Antonio, TX) has a loose arm with some whip in his low slot release, and was very difficult to find the barrel against with excellent use of his secondary offerings landing for some easy swing and miss stuff getting him through a quick appearance.

Brooks Bumstead (2027 3B, Prairieville, LA) fits the part with great projection on the mound. Did a great job creating a tough plane to hit with some life on his firm fastball and feel for the zone. 

4 - Navy vs. 5 - Red Game Highlights

2/27/2022

Jakson Ortiz (2026 OF, Nacogdoches, TX) picked up the first knock of the game with a single to center field for the Navy club and promptly stole second base on the very next pitch. Dane Browne (2026 SS, Weatherford, TX) kept things going as he got the hands extended and dropped a single of his own into shallow left field to cap off the inning.

 

Drew Cross (2027 3B, Mount Pleasant, TX) started the game for Red and filled up the strike zone, punching out a couple batters while living in the low-70s with his fastball, showing nice running life to his arm side.

 

Lorenzo Garcia (2026 C, La Porte, TX) did a nice job of getting his hands extended while meeting the ball out front with the barrel to pick up a single into left field, kicking off the bottom of the third for the Red offense. He was able to then get himself into scoring position by stealing both second and third base.

 

Karson Chambers (2026 LHP, Nashville, AR) is a 6-2/165 lefty who projects well physically and already shows a smooth operation on the mound. He topped out at 76 mph and the ball seemed to get on hitters quickly while mixing both a curveball and changeup for strikes. In his final at bat of the game Chambers turned around a fastball for a well struck RBI single into right field. 

 

Jackson Jones (2027 SS, Orange, TX) got his first hit of the day in a tough left-on-left matchup, barreling a heater the other way for a single into left field. He also filled the zone in his first inning of work on the mound, inducing weak contact early in the count. 

 

William Anderson (2026 C, Texarkana, TX) put his strength on display, getting the barrel out front with a quick launch to drive a ball off the fence for an easy standup double for the Red squad. He added another booming double to the pull side in his last at-bat of the game, again driving the pitch to the left field wall before stealing third base. 

 

Jeffrey-Todd Darden (2026 OF, Cypress, TX) showed off his arm strength on the mound, showing the best fastball of the game with a top of 77 mph while mixing in a curveball with which he had a nice feel for. He made his last swing of the event count as he blasted an RBI double deep to left field, showing a nice combo of bat speed and strength. 

 

Robert Drexler (2027 RHP, Omaha, NE) connected for a well struck single in the top of the 9th inning, sending a pitch back up the middle to kick start the offense. He also made a nice sliding play at third base, showing athleticism to knock down a ball destined for the outfield.

Batting Practice Highlights

2/26/2022

Braxton Beaty (2026 LHP, Angleton, TX) showed off a smooth left swing generating good leverage with bat speed to build on.

Spencer Browning (2026 SS, Texarkana, TX) is a physical presence in the box flashing big power potential with present impact showing good upside to watch as he progresses.

Austin Finegan (2026 OF, Clovis, CA) hammered line drives up the middle. Showed good pop with an easy swing.

Vaughn Lengel (2026 3B, Austin, TX) has great control of his size with a smooth swing and feel for the barrel.

Julian Suarez (2027 C, Sinton, TX) can hit to any field with an athletic swing and mature approach, found the barrel consistent with a repeatable operation. 

Dylan Arriaga (2027 1B, Sinton, TX) creates good leverage and put on a great display of impact in his round.

Marcus Cantu (2026 SS, Friendswood, TX) creates some noise with the bat speed and impact, stays balance and drives the ball hard flashing an advanced hit tool for the class.

Nathan Cervantes (2027 C, Shreveport, LA) is switch hitter with a promising left side swing showing more power upside with good size that could be very effective down the road, but solid impact and physicality should continue to play well.

Ayden Collier (2027 OF, Rosenberg, TX) smooth lefty swing with a mature contact geared approach and ability to turn on it with impact, has obvious physical projection left should be interesting to see develop the swing down the road.

Anthony Misch (2026 SS, Parker, CO) quick twitch swing with feel for the barrel created consistent leverage creates backspin, likable strength projections with room to fill.

Landon McGuire (2026 OF, Friendswood, TX) showed power potential from the left side, good body and sound swing syncs up smooth for solid connections.

Stephen (Drew) Rocha (2027 RHP, Dickinson, TX) has a real loose barrel and some moving parts of a promising swing to put together with flashes of some raw strength.

Harrison Williams (2027 C, Lumberton, TX) is switch hitting athlete, showed refined mechanics that are presently best from strong left side swing with good feel to launch an accurate barrel.

Kale Richardson (2026 3B, Bloomfield, MO) has a violent approach with control in the swing to compliment the intent at the plate and good size shifting hard into connections.

Brady Schneider (2027 SS, The Woodlands, TX) showed a smooth hit over power with an inside out swing and feel to launch a quality barrel on plane.

Jackson Jones (2027 SS, Orange, TX) was very consistent showing flashing feel for the barrel with a repeatable swing find the barrel.

Chance Kirtley (2026 2B, Tomball, TX) put on an athletic swing flashing pieces coming together to like as he develops.

Jake Burton (2027 LHP, Missouri City, TX) has a very rhythmic swing with balance throughout and present impact showing physical upside.

Alfred Williams (2026 RHP, Nederland, TX) has some line drive pop in his repeatable swing, smooth operation with idea of the zone and held a consistent round with the barrel working middle best.

William Anderson (2026 C, Texarkana, TX) a physical standout with serious bat speed you can hear has impressive control and strength projecting very well.

Karson Chambers (2026 LHP, Nashville, AR) utilizes length incredibly well while staying connected through the zone with solid impact.

Jeffrey-Todd Darden (2026 OF, Cypress, TX) has intriguing raw skill with present strength and quality intent with feel for the barrel working consistently, shows room to refine an advanced hit tool.

Ripken Birdwell (2026 SS, Hooks, TX) has a strong swing from the left side, can slot the barrel well with easy jump off the bat and athletic operation. 

3-Maroon vs 4-Navy Game Highlights

2/26/2022

Ayden Collier (2027 OF, Rosenberg, TX) opens things up early with the bat after an intriguing swing displayed in batting practice, he barreled a double up the middle showing off his approach and attacking the fastball early.

Colin Callahan (2026 RHP, Houston, TX) fits the part with pieces to put together on the mound. Callahan projects very well with a good idea present to mix effectively. Sporting a young 6-foot-4 lean frame, there is a lot to watch down the line here from the right-hander.

Matthew McClenan (2026 3B, San Antonio, TX) won a quality AB with a rope to left. Saw the fastball well and showed good discipline upside that found the barrel against a competitive mix on the mound.

Landon McGuire (2026 OF, Friendswood, TX) goes opposite field double for the RBI. McGuire has shown excellent feel for the barrel with a smooth inside out connection carrying well. 
5 - Red vs 6 - White Game Highlights

2/26/2022

Ripken Birdwell (26, SS/IF, Hooks, TX) started off his weekend hot with a line drive double over the left-fielders head. Ripken has a sound approach at the plate and shows to make solid contact out front.

 

Kooper Benoit (26, RHP, Groves, TX) was dominate during his three innings of work. He filled up the zone with his with his three-pitch mix that included a fastball that was in the upper 70’s along with a slider and changeup. He showed the ability to throw his off-speed early and often. Benoit would strike out eight in three innings of work while allowing no hits.

 

Miles Roy (26, OF, The Woodlands, TX) used his impactful frame and long limbs to create leverage upon contact during his first at-bat. He would rocket a fastball to the left-centerfield gap for a stand-up triple.

 

Cole Johnson (26, LHP, San Antonio, TX) is a good-sized southpaw that was impressive on the mound during his three innings of work. He has developing arm speed and locates his two-pitch mix successfully in the zone. Johnson would punch of seven hitters while only allowing one run.

 

Jaxon Dickey (27, OF, Gladewater, TX) showed some good bat speed at the plate and on the bases. Dickey was able to stroke a triple in his second at-bat of the day. Dickey is also able to glide easy around the bases. There is room to add strength to the frame as he matures.

1 - Gold vs. 2 - Green Highlights

2/26/2022

Braxton Beaty (2026 LHP, Angleton, TX) set the tone for a dominant outing in his first frame where he struck out a pair and proved to be in complete control. His fastball peaked in the upper-70s routinely with heavy and late running life while mixing in a quality curveball which left hitters frozen.

 

Austin Finegan (2026 OF, Clovis, CA) continued swinging it well after a nice showing in batting practice as he went the other way in game one to pick up a double past the outstretched glove of the right fielder. He wasted little time picking up his second base hit of the game in his final at-bat going back up the middle for a single. 

 

Vaughn Lengel (2026 3B, Austin, TX) gave the Gold club their second two-base hit in as many innings as he led off the third frame with a barreled double that to left field which cleared the fielder’s head on a line. Matthew Johnson (2026 SS, Orange, TX) followed up with a barrel of his own, picking up a line drive knock into left field.

 

Spencer Browning (2026 SS, Texarkana, TX) is already committed to Arkansas and he showed a nice piece of hitting, going with a fastball down in the zone which was running away and lined it into right field for a single, plating the first run of the game.  

 

Marcus Cantu (2026 SS, Friendswood, TX) found perhaps the loudest barrel of the day as he sat back and squared a pitch back up the middle for a hard line drive single before promptly stealing second base. He also showed smooth actions in the infield.
