AZ Prowlers win 18U PG MLK Championship

Keyed by a nine-run 7th inning, the AZ Prowlers beat the Dbacks Elite Scout Team 12-8 Monday evening at the Camelback Ranch Complex to win the 2015 18U PG MLK Championship.

The Prowlers pounded-out 11 hits on their way to securing the title, including three from Ryan Nelson (2015, Phoenix, AZ). Nelson went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBI. Teammates Aaron Prado (2015, Phoenix, AZ), Harrison Altieri (2015, Chandler, AZ) and Cole Bygum (2015, Castaic, CA) recorded two hits each. Kyler Murphy (2015, Glendale, AZ) added two walks, two runs and two RBI. 

SS/RHP Tyler Wyatt (2015, Peoria, AZ) started and pitched 4.0 innings for the Prowlers. He showed an 84-88 mph heater with life, plus a curve in the low-70s and changeup in the mid-70s. Teammate and Kansas commit SS/RHP Rudy Karre (2015, Peoria, AZ) faced four batters in relief, featuring power stuff in the 87-90 mph range. 

Alejo Lopez (2015, Glendale, AZ), Matthew Kroon (2015, Scottsdale, AZ) and Erick Migueles (2015, Tucson, AZ) each had two hits for the Dbacks. Kroon and Migueles also tripled; Kroon scored three runs and Migueles drove in three.

RHP Saturnino Santa Cruz (2015, Sahuarita, AZ) started and pitched 3.0 innings for the Dbacks, striking out four. The 6-foot-3, 225-pound Arizona commit was around the plate with all his pitches, flashing outstanding armspeed and missing bats with regularity. Cruz worked in the 90-93 mph range with armside run. He also showed a low-70s curve and upper-70s slider.

SS/RHP Giovanni Lopez (2015, Goodyear, AZ) worked in the 84-90 mph range for the Dbacks, peaking at 91 in his inning of relief. Lopez also flashed a mid-80s changeup and upper-70s breaking pitch. San Diego State commit C/RHP Logan Boyer (2016, Chandler, AZ) and RHP Nathan Sweeney (2016, Greenwood Village, CO) also displayed impressive velos in relief. Boyer was in the 84-89 mph range; Sweeney was clocked at 84-87.

Johnston powers Team Northwest to 10-3 win

Keyed by a five-run 3rd inning, Team Northwest 2016 beat Phenom Florida 10-3 in their consolation game Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Troy Johnston (2016, Puyallup, WA) led the offensive charge for Team Northwest, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk, four RBI and three runs scored. He also stole a base. Teammate Jordan Mambaje (2017, Boring, OR) also filled the box score, going 1-for-2 with a walk, a run and an RBI.

LHP Samuel Pyzer (2016, Lake Stevens, WA) started and pitched 3.0 innings for Team Northwest. His fastball sat in the 76-79 mph range, peaking at 80. He also flashed an upper-60s curve and low-70s changeup. Teammate 3B/RHP Justin Hinkle (2016, Tacoma, WA) worked at 77-79 mph in 1.0 inning of relief.

Blizzard Black pounds-out 10 hits in 9-1 win

MN Blizzard Black recorded 10 hits in their 9-1 consolation game win over War Eagle Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch. Three different players recorded multi-hit efforts, including: Cole Johnson (2015, Appel Valley, MN), Willem Aldrich (2016, Duluth, MN) and Bryan Sanchez (2015, Fridley, MN). Johnson and Aldrich also drove in a pair of runs each.

LHP JT Engswick (2016, Vadnais Heights, MN) and RHP Ryan Thompson (2016, Byron, MN) combined to throw a two-hitter for Blizzard Black. Engswick struck out seven in 5.0 innings, working in the 75-78 mph range. He also flashed a low-60s curve and mid-60s changeup. Thompson finished the game with a scoreless frame, while firing strikes at 82-84 mph with a low-70s curve.


Baseball Northwest rallies to 6-5 win

Down four runs early, Baseball Northwest rallied to a 6-5 consolation game win over 808 Baseball Academy Monday afternoon at Raymond S. Kellis HS.

The Northwest rally was led by Cal Waterman (2016, Bend, OR), who went 3-for-4 with a home run and two runs scored. Teammate RHP Keaton Edwards (2015, Surrey, BC) struck out four in 2.0 relief innings. Edwards worked in the 80-83 mph range with a low-70s curve. SS/RHP Steffen Torgersen (2015, Shoreline, WA) worked 1.0 brief inning, working in the 81-84 mph range.

808 pounded-out 11 hits in defeat, including multi-hit efforts from: Micah Layosa (2016, Lihue, HI), Austin Inouye (2016, Honolulu, HI), Brent Alamilo (2018, Waipahu, HI) and Rick Costa (2016, Waipahu, HI).

So Cal's 2-run 7th leads to 8-7 win

The So Cal White Sox scored two in the top of the 7th to beat Team Baseball California 8-7 in their back-and-forth consolation game Monday afternoon at Westview HS.

Josh Freligh (2017, Long Beach, CA) led all players with three hits, including a triple, for So Cal. Teammate Dean Miller (2015, Long Beach, CA) went 2-for-3 from the leadoff spot with a home run, a walk, two runs and two RBI.

RHP Richie Coughlin (2016, North Las Vegas, NV) struck out five in 5.0 relief innings for California. His fastball sat at 78-83 mph with a mid-60s curve and upper-60s changeup.

Cavs rally with 3-run 7th to win

The CBA Cavs rallied with a three-run 7th inning to complete the 3-1 comeback win over Team IP Prospects in their consolation game Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Erick Rayford (2016, Chino Hills, CA) and Corey Treyes (2016, West Covina, CA) recorded three hits each for the Cavs, but teammate Eyan Reeve (2018, Anaheim, CA) was the hero with his game-winning three-run double.

2B/RHP Christian Angel De La Paz (2016, Corpus Christi, TX) pitched the final to innings for CBA to secure the win. He worked in the 81-84 mph range with an upper-60s curve and changeup. He struck out three.

Northwest rallies to down CBA

Team Northwest 2015 scored one run in the bottom of the 6th to secure a 3-2 consolation game win over CBA Marucci Monday morning at Raymond S. Kellis HS.

Jackson Cluff (2015, Meridian, ID) posted a game-high two hits for Northwest. Teammate RHP Jared Gray (2015, Auburn, WA) struck out four in 4.0 innings. Gray's fastball sat in the 83-86 mph range with a mid-70s changeup and low-70s breaking pitch.

For CBA, Oregon State commit RHP Dakota Donovan (2016, Washington, UT) fanned three in 2.0 relief innings, working in the 85-88 mph range. Donovan also flashed a mid-70s changeup and low-70s curve. 

Vipers rally to salvage 2-2 tie

The West Hills Vipers 18U scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to salvage a 2-2 tie in their consolation game with the San Diego Show Monday morning at Westview HS. Hudson Kimple (2015, Port Orchard, WA) had the game-tying hit, a two-run double.

The Show got an impressive performance from starter RHP Jonathan Pendergast (2015, San Diego, CA), who fanned six in 4.0 two-hit innings. He worked in the 80-83 mph range with a low-70s curve and mid-70s changeup. Teammate RHP James Ryan (2015, Westminister, CA) struck out five in 3.0 innings of relief. Ryan fired strikes at 81-86 mph, peaking at 88. He also flashed a low-70s curve and upper-70s changeup.

RHP Tanner Knapp (2016, Milton, WA) started and struck out two in 2.0 innings for the Vipers. The 6-foot, 205-pound Seattle commit displayed a smooth delivery and changed speeds well, working in the 82-84 mpg range with a mid-70s curve and upper-70s changeup.

Montoya pitches Prowlers into finals

Led by a brilliant pitching performance from Arizona State commit LHP Chaz Montoya (2016, Glendale, AZ), the AZ Prowlers advanced to the title game by beating North East Baseball 5-2 Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Montoya pitched all 7.0 innings for the Prowlers, striking out 11 batters. The 6-foot, 150-pound southpaw worked in the 79-85 mph range and relied heavily on his mid-70s curve.

Ryan Nelson (2015, Phoenix, AZ) led the Prowlers on offense, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI. 

North East Baseball showcased some high velo arms in defeat. Kansas commit RHP Jackson Goddard (2015, Tulsa, OK) struck out four batters in 2.2 innings, working in the 88-90 mph range, peaking at 91. Goddard also flashed an upper-70s curve and upper-70s changeup. Teammate and New Mexico commit RHP Peyton Remy (2015, Parker, CO) tossed a scoreless inning in relief, firing strikes at 86-88 mph, peaking at 89. Remy also showed a low-70s curve and mid-70s changeup. LHP John Gillett (2015, Bryan, TX) was in the 81-85 mph range with a low-70s curve in his 2.1 innings. 

Migueles powers Dbacks to finals

Fueled by three-run innings in the 1st, 2nd and 6th, Dbacks Elite Scout Tea, beat MN Blizzard Blue Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex to advance to the Championship game.

Seven different players recorded a hit for the Dbacks, including Erick Migueles (2015, Tucson, AZ), who went 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Teammate Wyatt Wilson (2015, Chandler, AZ) added two hits of his own, stole a base and scored twice. Tyler Williams (2015, Peoria, AZ) showcased his wheels on the base paths, going 1-for-1 with a walk, three steals and three runs scored.

RHP Andres Hackman (2015, Tucson, AZ) started and pitched 2.0 innings for the Dbacks, working in the 81-85 mph range with an upper-60s curve. Teammate RHP Bradley Gonzalez (2015, Tucson, AZ) lit up the radar gun in his 3.0 innings of relief, working at 84-88 mph with a mid-70s curve. He struck out four. C/RHP Logan Boyer (2016, Chandler, AZ) fanned both batters he faced while boasting the game's top velocity. Boyer fired strikes at 87-91 mph while flashing a low-70s curve.

For the Blizzard, SS/RHP Ezequis Encarnacion (2016, Vadnais Heights, MN) tossed 3.0 innings of relief in the 81-84 mph range. He also showed a mid-70s curve and mid-70s changeup.


Altieri leads Prowlers to Semifinals

Led by a three-hit effort from Harrison Altieri (2015, Chandler, AZ), the AZ Prowlers beat Showtime Baseball 6-0 Monday morning in the first round of the playoffs. Teammate Tyler Wyatt (2015, Peoria, AZ) added two hits and a pair of runs.

RHP Cole Bygum (2015, Castaic, CA) pitched all 6.0 innings for the Prowlers, striking out five. He worked in the 81-85 mph range with a low-70s changeup and upper-60s breaking pitch.

For Showtime, Colin Rubino (2015, Battle Ground, WA) went 3-for-3 from the leadoff spot. Teammate LHP Allbee Jacob (2015, Vancouver, WA) started and pitched 2.2 innings, striking out five. Jacob fastball was in the 78-83 mph range with a low-70s curve. RHP Hunter Bruno (2016, Camas, WA) tossed 2.1 innings of relief, firing strikes at 81-84 mph with an upper-60s curve.

Blizzard Blue advance, 8-2

MN Blizzard Blue beat the Mountain Lions 8-2 in round 1 of the playoffs Monday morning at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Isaac Hormann (2015, Young America, MN) and Isaac Collins (2016, Maple Grove, MN) led the MN offense, each going 2-for-3. Hormann added two runs, two RBI and a stolen base, while Collins double twice and drove in three.

RHP Nathan Odahl (2015, Vadnais Heights, MN) started and pitched 5.1 innings for MN, striking out four. His fastball sat in the 76-81 mph range with a low-70s curve.

For the Mountain Lions, RHP Tommy Lowe (2017, Glendale, AZ) worked in the 77-81 mph range with a low-70s curve in his 3.0 innings. Teammate LHP Chase Sandman (2016, Peoria, AZ) fanned a pair in 2.0 relief innings. His fastball sat at 81-84 mph with a low-70s curve.

Bats carry Team Northwest to win

Team Northwest 2016 defeated 808 Baseball Academy 8-0 to improve their record to 2-1 in the tournament.  Gonzaga commit, Troy Johnson (2016, Gov John Rogers HS, WA), led the way for Team Northwest's offense going 2-2 with 1 double, 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 1 walk.  Washington commit, Brendan Ecklebarger (2016, Redmond HS, WA), also impressed going 2-3 with 2 doubles and 1 run scored.  Keenan Milligan (2016, Tumwater HS, WA) added in a 1-3 performance with 1 double and 1 RBI.  

Brycen Allen (2016, Todd Beamer HS, WA) started and earned the win for Team Northwest tossing 5 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 1 batter.  Allen featured a 77-80 mph fastball and mixed in a 63-65 mph curveball.  

For 808, Leighton Moniz (2017, Kapaa HS, HI) went 1-1 with 1 walk.  

Offense carries North East over Prospects

North East Baseball defeated Team IP Prospects 13-0 to remain undefeated at 3-0 in the tournament.  Washington commit, AJ Graffanino (2015, Northwest Christian HS, AZ), led the way for the North East offense going 2-3 with 1 triple, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.  Scott Kapers (2015, Mount Carmel HS, IN) added in a 2-2 performance with 1 double, 3 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Duke commit, Zack Kesterson (2015, New Hartford Senior HS, NY), also impressed going 1-2 with 1 double and 2 RBI, while Jordan Stephens (2015, Legend HS, CO), a Dallas Baptist commit, went 1-2 with 1 double and 1 RBI.  

New Mexico commit, Peyton Remy (2015, Legend HS, CO), started and earned the win for North East tossing 3 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 5 batters.  Remy featured an 87-90/91 mph fastball on the mound and mixed in a 70-73 mph curveball.  

For the Prospects, Robbie Wilkes (2016, Martin Collegiate HS, SK) went 2-3.  

Isbell tosses 1 hitter in Dbacks win

The Dbacks Elite Scout Team defeated the CBA Cavs 7-0 to remain undefeated at 3-0 in the tournament.  Arizona State commit, Christian Isbell (2015, Horizon HS, AZ), started and earned the win for the Dbacks tossing 4 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and no walks, while striking out 6 batters.  Isbell featured an 82-84/85 mph fastball and he mixed in a 70-74 mph curveball and a 72-77 mph changeup.  

Fellow Arizona State commit, Blake Perkins (2015, Verrado HS, AZ), led the way for the Dbacks' offense going 1-2 with 1 run scored, 2 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.  Robby Campillo (2016, Salpointe Catholic HS, AZ) also impressed going 1-2 with 2 RBI.  

For the Cavs, Ben Martz (2017, Thousand Oaks HS, CA) went 1-2 with 1 walk.

Showtime Baseball defeated MAP Baseball 3-1 to remain undefeated at 3-0 in the tournament.  Kordell Vasbinder (2015, Skyview HS, WA) started and earned the win for Showtime tossing 4 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk, while striking out 8 batters.  Vasbinder featured an 82-86 mph fastball and mixed in a 68-73 mph curveball and a 75-76 mph changeup. 

Parker Randle (2015, Battle Ground HS, WA) led the Showtime offense going 2-2 with 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Liam Fitzpatrick (2016, Camas HS, WA) also impressed going 2-2 with 1 run scored.  

For MAP, Peter Fehr (2016, Rogers HS, MN) went 2-2 with 1 double.  

Washington homers as Team Citius wins

Team Citius USA defeated the So Cal White 3-0 to pick up their first win of the tournament.  Texas commit, Ronald Washington (2017, Dulles HS, TX), led the way for Team Citius going 2-2 with 1 home run, 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases.  AJ Gateway added in a 1-2 day with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 stolen base.  Wade Rogers (2015, Bishop HS, TX) also impressed going 2-2 with 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.    

Isiah Cullum (2015 South Sumter HS, FL) dominated on the mound for Team Citius as he earned the win tossing 5 no-hit innings allowing just 1 walk, while recording 10 strikeouts.  Cullum featured an 80-85/86 mph fastball and mixed in a 74-78 mph slider and a 72 mph curveball.  

For the So Cal White, Jim Goodwin (2015, John A Rowland HS, CA) went 1-2 with 1 double.  

Revels K's 6 as Lions win

The Mountain Lions defeated the San Diego Show 5-1 to remain undefeated at 3-0 in the tournament.  Justin Revels (2015, Mountain Ridge HS, AZ) started and earned the win for the Lions tossing 5 strong innings allowing just 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks, while striking out 6 batters.  Revels pitched downhill and showed good cut action on his heavy 82-84 mph fastball and mixed in a 71-75 mph curveball.  

Harry Gard (2015, Mountain Ridge HS, AZ) led the way for the Lions' offense showing good plate coverage and power potential to go 1-1 with 1 double, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk.  Chase Sandman (2017, Mountain Ridge HS, AZ) and Sawyer Treese (2015, Mountain Ridge HS, AZ) each added in 1 base hit and 1 RBI.  

For the Show, Geoff McCalley (2016, Scripps Ranch HS, CA) went 2-3 with 1 triple showing good bat speed and an aggressive approach.  Eric Charles (2015, Redwood HS, CA) used a confident and sound approach to go 1-2 with 1 triple, 1 run scored and 1 walk.  

Flores powers CBA Marucci to win

CBA Marucci defeated the Advanced Baseball Academy 9-0 to improve their record to 2-1 in the tournament.  Arizona commit, Tyler Flores (2016, Westlake HS, CA), helped power the CBA offense going 2-3 with 1 home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Godoy added in a 2-3 day with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Griffen Herrera (2016, Glendora HS, CA) also impressed going 3-3 with 1 double, 2 RBI and 2 stolen bases.  

UC Santa Barbara commit, Jack Dashwood (2016, St Augustine HS, CA), earned the win for CBA tossing 3 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 8 batters.  Dashwood showed impressive velocity on the mound seeing his fastball range between 84-87/89 mph and he mixed in a 70-73 mph curveball.  

For the Advanced Baseball Academy, Nathaniel Vossman (2016, Blue Valley Northwest HS, KS) went 2-2 and Gage Hardin (2016, Fairmont HS, NC) went 1-2 with 1 stolen base.  

Big inning lifts Northwest

A big fourth inning helps Team Northwest 2015 heat MAP Baseball 2017 12-0. Jack Johnson (2015, Roosevelt, WA) had a great day at the plate by going 4-4 with a double, triple, and four RBI's.  Ethan Paul (2015, Newport, WA) pitched in with two doubles and two RBI's.  Brendan Illies (2015, Puyallup, WA) singled in two runs. Cameron Blowers (2015, Graham Kapowsin, WA) started and lasted three innings. He struck out seven and allowed just one hit. He threw his fastball between 84-87 mph and it reached 88. Ryan Howe (2015, Wilsonville, OR) came in to finish the game. He pitched two perfect innings and struck out two.

Jimmy Lapsley (2016, Lakeville South, MN) threw 1 2/3 inning for MAP. He struck out two and allowed four hits. 

Vipers defeat Team California

The West Hills Vipers 18U defeated Team California Baseball to improve their record to 1-1-1 in the tournament.  Carter Kraus (2015, Bainbridge HS, WA) led the way for the Vipers' offense going 1-1 with 1 double, 1 run scored, 3 RBI and 1 walk.  Tyler Bickert (2015, Peninsula HS, WA) also impressed going 1-1 with 1 double, 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 2 walks.  Will Gatlin (2015, South Kitsap HS, WA) added in a 1-1 day at the plate with 1 triple, 1 run scored, 1 RBI and 1 walk, while Nolan Wiler (2016, Central Kitsap HS, WA) went 1-3 with 2 runs scored and 3 RBI.  

Andrew Hecker (2015, North Kitsap HS, WA) earned the win for the Vipers going 2 1/3 innings allowing just 1 hit and 3 walks, while striking out 4 batters.  Hecker featured a 77-82/83 mph fastball and mixed in a 70-74 mph curveball.  

For Team California, Vusovich went 1-1 with 1 double.  

One-hitter in a 1-1 tie

Baseball Northwest pitchers threw a one-hitter in their 1-1 tie with MN Blizzard Black.  Jake Mulholland (2016, Snohomish, WA) started and pitched five innings. He struck out seven and walked just one. Lucas Chapman (2016, Mercer Island, WA) came in next. In 1 1/3 innings, he fanned two but walked two.  Andy Atwood (2015, O'Dea, WA) came in to finish the seventh inning. He struck out the two batters he faced. He threw his fastball in the mid 80's and it reached 88 mph. Alix Garcia (2016, Othello, WA) doubled in their only run.

Lawson Zenner (2016, Prior Lake, MN) threw for the Blizzard. He struck out four while allowing three hit. 

Prowlers top Phenom

AZ Prowlers held off Phenom Florida to win 6-5. Rudy Karre (2015, Liberty, AZ) led the attack with two hits including a double and two RBI's.  Austin Shumake (2015, Chandler, AZ) drove in two runs with a triple. Zachary Bygum (2015, Golden Valley, CA) started and lasted four innings. He struck out three and walked only one. Antonio Coronado (2015, St Marys, AZ) came in for 2/3 of an inning. His fastball was between 85-88 mph. Karre threw an inning and struck out two batters. His high 80's fastball reached 91 mph. 

Edgar Brito (2017, Lake Nona, FL) doubled in two runs for Phenom. 

Kuznia fans 10 in win

Jordan Kuznia (2015, Robbinsdale Armstrong, MN) showed off his skills for MN Blizzard Blue as they beat War Eagles 10-2. He started and lasted 4 2/3 innings. He struck 10 batters while allowing three hits.  Sam Horner (2015, New Life Academy of Woodburg, MN) led the offense with three hits including a triple and two RBI's.  Ezequis Encarnacion (2016, Holy Family Catholic, MN) pitched in with a single and a double.  Ben Suits (2015, Heritage Christian Academy, MN) went 2 for 3 with a double and came around to score twice.

Andrew Peterson (2015, Westwood, AZ) led the Eagles with three hits including a double and an RBI.  Cooper Williams (2016, Campo Verde, AZ) started and pitched 4 2/3 innings. He struck out eight but allowed seven hits. 

Barr hits, pitches Show to 8-0 win

Keyed by a six-run 1st inning, the San Diego Show beat Team Citius USA 8-0 Saturday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex. 

Braedon Barr (2015, La Mesa, CA) led the San Diego offense, going 1-for-2 with three RBI. On the mound, the right-hander tossed a 5.0-inning complete game, allowing one hit with five strikeouts. He worked in the 77-82 mph range with an upper-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

Texas commit OF/RHP Ronald Washington (2017, Houston, TX) tossed 1.2 innings in relief for Team Citius. The 6-foot, 210-pounder threw in the 80-87 mph range with a mid-70s changeup.

Sharp pitching on display in War Eagle's 3-0 win

Pitching shined in War Eagle's 3-0 win over Team California Baseball Saturday afternoon at Westview HS.

RHP Anthony Sumrall (2016, Surprise, AZ) tossed a complete game, three-hitter for War Eagle, striking out six over 7.0 innings. His fastball sat in the 81-85 mph range. Sumrall also flashed a mid-70s changeup and a low-70s breaking pitch. His counterpart Johnson fanned 11 in 7.0 innings for California, working in the 76-79 mph range with an upper-60s breaking pitch.

5-run 1st inning fuels Lions' 9-1 win

Fueled by a five-run 1st inning, the Mountain Lions beat the So Cal White Sox 9-1 Saturday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Cameron Cannon (2016, Glendale, AZ) and Mitchell Sullivan (2016, Glendale, AZ) had multi-hit games for the Lions. Cannon went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs and two RBI, while Sullivan went 2-for-2 with a walk, two runs and an RBI. 

RHP Michael Dyer (2015, Surprise, AZ) tossed 6.0 innings for the Lions in a complete game, striking out five. He worked in the 80-83 mph range with a mid-60s curve and low-70s slider.

For So Cal, RHP Julien Martin (2017, Long Beach, CA) was at 79-82 mph against the six batters he faced. Teammate RHP Danny Zimmerman (2017, Redondo Beach, CA) struck out five in as many innings in relief, working in the 81-85 mph range with a mid-70s slider.

Keyed by a five-run 5th inning, Phenom Florida beat MAP Baseball 17U 8-1 Saturday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Edgar Brito (2017, St. Cloud, FL) and Steven Molina (2016, Orlando, FL) each had two hits for Florida. Brito also scored twice, and Molina drove in a pair. 

RHP Adrian Mardueno (2016, Rancho Cucamonga, CA) struck out three in 2.0 relief innings for Florida. He worked in the 81-86 mph range with a low-70s curve. Teammate RHP/OF Liam Silvagnoli (2016, Orlando, FL) fanned three in 1.0 inning of relief. His fastball sat at 85-87 mph.

5-run 1st keys IP Prospects win

Fueled by a five-run 1st inning, Team IP Prospects beat 808 Baseball Academy 6-1 Saturday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Six different players recorded a hit for the IP Prospects, including Luke Lubiniecki (2015, Regina, SK), who filled the box score by going 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base, a run and an RBI. Teammate Ben Komonosky (2015, Regina, SK) went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run and two RBI. 

RHP Jayden Lorenz (2017, Regina, SK) pitched all 7.0 innings for the IP Prospects, striking out six. He worked in the 71-76 mph range with an upper-60s curve.

Blizzard win over Cavs

The MN Blizzard Black defeated the CBA Cavs 9-7 to even their record at 1-1 in the tournament.  Cole Johnson (2015, Apple Valley HS, MN) led the way for the Blizzard offense going 2-2 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.  Trevor Moses (2016, Mahtomedi HS, MN) also impressed going 2-2 with 1 double, 1 run scored, 2 RBI and 1 walk.  Bryan Sanchez (2015, Fridley HS, MN) added in a 1-3 day with 1 triple and 1 RBI, while Calgary Kellner (2016, East Ridge HS, MN) went 2-3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.

JT Engswick (2016, St Thomas Academy HS, MN) earned the win in relief for the Blizzard tossing 1 1/3 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 1 batter.  Engswick featured a 78-79 mph fastball on the mound.  

For the Cavs, Christian Angel De La Paz (2016, Corpus Christi Moody HS, TX) went 2-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Ben Martz and Dylan Lindsey (2015, Citrus Valley HS, CA) each showed well as they both smacked triples.  Eddie Torres (2015, Serra HS, CA) contributed a 1-2 day at the plate with 1 double and 1 RBI.  

Dbacks win over Baseball Northwest

The Dbacks Elite Scout Team defeated Baseball Northwest 1-0 to improve their record to 2-0 in the tournament.  UNLV commit, Samuel Pastrone (2015, Arbor View HS, NV), started and earned the win for the Dbacks tossing 3 no-hit innings allowing just 1 walk and striking out 4 batters.  Pastrone showed outstanding arm speed and an online delivery with his 87-90/91 mph fastball and mixed in a 71-74 mph curveball that showed good depth and a deceptive 75-79 mph changeup.  

Nick Brueser (2017, Hamilton HS, AZ) led the way for the Dbacks' offense going 1-1 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 walk.  Oregon commit, Matthew Kroon (2015, Horizon HS, AZ), also impressed going 1-2 with 1 double and San Diego State commit, Logan Boyer (2016, Hamilton HS, AZ), went 1-2 and knocked in the only run of the game.  

For Baseball Northwest, Jimmy Boyce (2016, Eastside Catholic HS, WA) took the tough-luck-loss going 5 strong innings allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 5 batters.  Boyce featured an 82-85/86 mph fastball that had armside run and also relied on his 69-72 mph curveball.  

Lawson dominates as CBA Marucci wins

CBA Marucci defeated MAP Baseball 18U 8-0 to even their record at 1-1 in the tournament.  CBA starter, and Arizona State commit, Reggie Lawson (2016, Victor Valley HS, CA), earned the win as he tossed 3 perfect innings on the mound and recorded 7 strikeouts.  Lawson showed excellent velocity on the mound with his 86-89 mph fastball and mixed in a 69-72 mph curveball.  Jordan Chang (2016, Cathedral Catholic HS, CA) also impressed in relief tossing 2 perfect innings and striking out 4 batters featuring a 79-83 mph fastball.  

Aaron Greenfield (2016, Millikan HS, CA) led the way for CBA's offense going 1-2 with 2 RBI, 2 stolen bases and 1 walk.  Gillespe also showed well going 2-2 with 1 run scored, 2 stolen bases and 1 walk.  Nolan added in a 1-2 day with 2 runs scored and 1 walk, while Korkmaz went 1-1 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI and earned 2 walks.


Showtime wins over Advanced Baseball

Showtime Baseball defeated the Advanced Baseball Academy 8-0 to improve their record to 2-0 in the tournament.  Showtime was led by their starting pitcher, and Oregon commit, McKinley Lefore (2015, Camas HS, WA), who tossed 4 perfect innings on the mound and struck out 5 batters throwing 84.2% of his pitches for strikes.  Lefore featured an 81-84 mph fastball and mixed in a 69-73 mph curveball and a 74-76 mph changeup.  

Sam Jones (2015, Camas HS, WA) led the way for the Showtime offense going 2-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Trevor Wharton (2016, Heritage HS, WA) also impressed going 2-3 with 1 double, 2 runs scored and 1 stolen base.  Colin Rubino (2015, Battle Ground HS, WA) added in a 2-3 day with 1 run scored and 1 stolen base from the leadoff spot and Parker Randle (2015, Battle Ground HS, WA) went 1-2 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  

For the Advanced Baseball Academy, Jacob Flores (2016, Sumner Academy of Arts and Science HS, KS) went 1-2.  

North East Baseball Wins 7-1

North East Baseball defeated Team Northwest by a score of 7-1. 

Jaxxon Fagg, (2015, Williams Field, AZ) led North East with a double, one RBI and a run scored. AJ Graffenino, (2015, Northwest Christian, AZ), a Washington commit, also had one hit, an RBI and a run scored. Ryan Connolly, (2015, Douglas County, CO), a Nebraska commit, earned the win as he pitched three scoreless innings and didn't allow a hit while striking out six. Austin Treadwell, (2015, Eldorado, NM), a New Mexico commit, had a good relief outing, pitching three innings as he allowed one run on three hits and struck out five. 

Jordan Mambaje, (2017, Sandy, OR), an Oregon State commit, led the Team Northwest offense with a double and two walks. 

Vipers/War Eagle Tie 3-3

The West Hills Vipers 18U and War Eagle finished their game in a 3-3 tie. 

The Vipers were led by Hunter Riley, (2016, South Kitsap, WA) and Jacob Gotchall, (2015, Klahowya, WA) who each had one hit and one RBI. Christian Miller, (2015, Central Kitsap, WA) pitched a solid game as he threw 4.1 scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out nine. 

Daniel Gameros, (2015, Westwood, AZ) led War Eagle with two hits and one run scored. Cooper Williams, (2016, Campo Verde, AZ) added a hit, one RBI and a run scored. Nevan Gillespie, (2017, Westwood, AZ) pitched a complete game, allowing three runs on seven hits and struck out seven.

Mountain Lions Defeat Team Citius 8-4

Two four run innings propelled the Mountain Lions to an 8-4 victory over Team Citius USA. 

The Mountain Lions were led by Sawyer Treese, (2015, Mountain Ridge, AZ) who had a double, a triple, three RBIs and scored two runs. Tristan Thomas, (2016, Mountain Ridge, AZ) and Logan Vanderleest, (2015, Mountain Ridge, AZ) each had one RBI. Harry Gard, (2015, Mountain Ridge, AZ) earned the win on the mound, pitching 5.2 innings and striking out 12. 

Ronald Washington, (2017, Dulles, TX) led Team Citius with two hits, one RBI and one run scored. Robert Partida Jr., (2015, Rowe, TX) pitched two innings and didn't allow a run nor hit while striking out four. 

Late Inning Heroics Lead Prowlers to Win

The AZ Prowlers completed their comeback victory with some late inning heroics by Hayden Durkiewicz, (2015, Chandler, AZ) whose grand slam in the top of the seventh lifted the Prowlers to a 6-5 win.

Tyler Wyatt, (2015, Liberty, AZ), a Grand Canyon commit, added two hits. Wyatt also struck out three batters in two innings of work with a fastball that touched 91 mph. Chaz Montoya, (2016, Centennial, AZ), an Arizona State commit, pitched five innings and struck out 11. He used a fastball that reached 84 mph and mixed in a low 70's curve. 

Ethan Paul, (2015, Newport, WA), a Vanderbilt commit, led the Team Northwest offense with a double, a triple, two RBIs and two runs scored. Brendan Illes, (2015, Puyallup, WA) added a double and two RBIs. 

Early Lead Gives Show 17-4 Win

The San Diego Show took an early lead and never looked back en route to a 17-4 victory over the So Cal White Sox. 

Myles Emmerson, (2016, El Capitan, CA) led the Show offense going 1-3 with a triple, four RBIs and one run scored. Kyle Hurt, (2017, Torrey Pines, CA), a Southern California commit, and Geoff McCalley, (2016, Scripps Ranch, CA) each had three RBIs. Nick Gallardo, (2016, Scripps Ranch, CA) blasted a home run in the win. Kenny Mares, (2014, Torrey Pines, CA) pitched 3.2 innings, allowing four runs, three earned, on five hits and struck out three. 

C. Venable led the So Cal White Sox offense going 1-3 with a triple, two RBIs and a run scored. Dean Miller, (2015, Ramona, CA) added two hits and scored a run. 

MN Blizzard Blue Wins 10-0

Behind an all-around team performance, the MN Blizzard Blue defeated Team California Baseball 10-0. 

Michael Busch, (2016, Simley, MN) and Isaac Hormann, (2015, Central, MN) each had two hits and two RBIs to lead the MN Blizzard Blue offense. Busch had a double, one stolen base and scored two runs scored. Hormann also scored a run. On the mound, Henry Decaster, (2015, Mounds View, MN), a South Dakota State commit, pitched four innings, only allowing three hits while striking out four. 

Russell Grant, (2016, Oceanside, CA), led the Team California offense with a double. 

Big inning keys Showtime's 5-4 win

Keyed by a five-run 5th inning, Showtime Baseball survived CBA Marucci's late-inning rally to win 5-4 Friday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Trevor Wharton (2016, Vancouver, WA) led the offensive attack for Showtime, going 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Nick Allen (2017, San Diego, CA) led CBA with two hits, a double and two steals.

RHP Dakota Donovan (2016, Washington, UT) tossed 4.0 scoreless innings for CBA, working in the 82-87 mph range with a low-70s curve. Teammate Gillespe fanned three in 3.0 innings, working in the 85-89 mph range with an upper-70s breaking pitch and a low-80s changeup.

LHP Allbee Jacob (2015, Vancouver, WA) and RHP Hunter Bruno (2016, Camas, WA) each pitched an inning in relief. Jacob fanned a pair in his inning, working in the 81-85 mph range. Bruno's fastball sat at 81-84.


Murphy & Nelson hit & pitch Prowlers to 8-7 win

The AZ Prowlers beat MAP Baseball 17U 8-7 in a back-and-forth thriller Friday afternoon at Liberty HS.

Kyler Murphy (2015, Glendale, AZ) and Ryan Nelson (2015, Phoenix, AZ) had two hits each for the Prowlers. On the mound, the right-handed throwing Murphy fanned a pair in 1.2 relief innings, working in the 77-80 mph range. Nelson struck out seven in 4.0 innings, firing strikes at 78-83 mph with a low-70s changeup and mid-60s curve.

Ben Vanhove (2016, Edina, MN) tallied two hits and two RBI for MAP Baseball.

Blizzard Blue survives Vipers' rally; wins 6-5

MN Blizzard Blue survived West Hills Vipers 18U's five-run 6th inning to win 6-5 Friday afternoon.

Ezequis Encarnacion (2016, Vadnais Heights, MN) led Blizzard Blue with three hits, including two doubles and two RBI. Teammate Isaac Hormann (2015, Young America, MN) added two hits and a run scored.

For the Vipers, RHP Tanner Knapp (2016, Milton, WA) fanned seven in 2.2 innings. He was around the plate with all his pitches, throwing strikes at 82-85 mph. Knapp also flashed a good feel for a low-70s curve with 11/5 break.

CBA Cavs pound-out 11 hits in 14-3 win

Fueled by a nine-run 4th inning, the CBA Cavs beat Baseball Northwest 14-3 Friday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

The Cavs pounded-out 11 hits in the win, including multi-hit efforts from Christian Angel De La Paz (2016, Corpus Christi, TX) and John Glenn (2016, Thousand Oaks, CA). De La Paz went 2-for-2 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and three runs scored. He displayed good plate coverage and a balanced swing at the plate, and soft, sure hands with quick feet in the infield. Glenn filled the box score, going 2-for-3 with a double, a home run and five RBI. Glenn showed excellent bat speed and light tower power to all fields. Corey Treyes (2016, West Covina, CA) got the start on the mound for the Cavs today. Treyes went three innings to earn the win striking out 5 while allowing 2 runs on 2 walks and 3 hits. Treyes's fastball sat 81-84mph to go with his slider at 72mph and his changeup at 69mph. Treyes pitches from a high 3/4 arm slot with an online delivery, and a good 12-6 curveball with good spin. 

RHP Keaton Edwards (2015, Surrey, BC) struck out six in 2.0 innings, working in the 79-84 mph range with a low-70s slider. Teammate RHP Lucas Chapman (2016, Mercer Island, WA) fanned a pair in 1.1 innings. He displayed good command of all his pitches, including his 80-82 mph heater with armside run and sink. He maintained arm speed when throwing his mid-70s changeup with armside run.

Dbacks score early & often to win 9-0

Alejo Lopez (2015, Glendale, AZ) led the Dbacks, going 2-for-3 with a triple, a stolen base, two runs and four RBI. 

RHP Javier Medina (2015, Tucson, AZ) fanned four in 3.0 hitless innings for the Dbacks. Medina worked in the 85-89 mph range, peaking at 90. He also flashed a curve and changeup, both in the upper-70s. Teammate SS/RHP Giovanni Lopez (2015, Goodyear, AZ) struck out two in 1.2 innings of relief. His fastball sat in the 84-89 mph range with an upper-70s curve. 

Pitching shines in North East's 6-0 win

Three pitchers combined to throw a one-hitter for North East Baseball in their 6-0 win over 808 Baseball Academy Friday morning at Camelback Ranch.

RHP Jackson Goddard (2015, Tulsa, OK) started and pitched 4.0 innings for North East Baseball. He worked in the 86-90 mph range with an upper-70s breaking pitch. Teammate C/RHP Scott Kapers (2015, Schereville, IN) struck out three in 1.0 inning. Kapers' fastball sat in the 85-87 mph range. LHP Tyler Watson (2015, Gilbert, AZ) fanned a pair in his 2.0 no-hit innings, throwing strikes at 86-89 mph, peaking at 90. Watson also flashed a low-70s curve, an upper-70s slider and an upper-70s changeup.

RHP Douglas Miyasato (2016, Lihue, HI) pitched all 6.0 innings for 808, striking out nine. He worked in the 72-79 mph range, and relied heavily on an upper-60s changeup. Miyasato also flashed a low-70s curve and a mid-70s slider.

Keyed by an eight-run 1st inning, Team Northwest 2015 beat Phenom Florida 9-3 Friday morning at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Jack Johnson (2015, Seattle, WA) and Antonio (Tony) Ortiz (2015, Olympia, WA) led the Northwest offense, each recording two hits. Johnson went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, a run scored, a stolen base and two RBI. Ortiz went 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBI.

RHP Elijah Hill (2015, Olympia, WA) struck out seven in 4.1 innings for Team Northwest, working in the 81-84 mph range. He also flashed an upper-60s curve.

For Phenom Florida, LHP Dylan Geri (2015, Safety Harbor, FL) fanned six in 3.0 innings. Geri's fastball was clocked in the 77-83 mph range, with a low-70s curve and a low-70s changeup. Teammate RHP Jerry Quemada (20156, Upland, CA) worked in the 85-88 mph range with a mid-70s curve vs. the four batters he faced. 

Team Northwest wins back-and-forth affair

Team Northwest 2016 outlasted Team IP Prospects to win 7-5 Friday morning at Liberty HS. 

Damon Peters (2016, Cornelius, OR) and Troy Johnston (2016, Puyallup, WA) each had two hits for Team Northwest, and teammate Jordan Mambaje (2017, Boring, OR) added a hit, a walk and two RBI. 

RHP Trevor Clark (2016, Wenatchee, WA) struck out six in 3.1 innings for Team Northwest. He worked in the 77-82 mph range. 

For the IP Prospects, RHP Chase Nistor (2015, Regina, SK) fanned three in 3.1 innings. Nistor's fastball sat in the 77-81 mph range with a low-70s curve.

MAP Baseball scores 8; moves to 1-0

MAP Baseball 18U scored in five different innings in their 8-5 win over Advanced Baseball Academy Friday morning.

Jimmy Ramsey (2015, Tonka Bay, MN) and D'Anthony Beckman (2015, St. Paul, MN) had and double and two hits each for MAP Baseball. Beckman added a game-high three RBI.

LHP Scott Richardson (2015, Burnsville, MN) struck out nine in 3.2 innings for MAP Baseball, allowing just one hit. He worked in the 75-79 mph range, peaking at 81 with armside run and cut. Richardson also flashed a mid-60s late-breaking curve with good depth.
