Big innings propel All Star to 11-3 win

Keyed by a four-run 3rd inning and six-run 6th, All Star Baseball Academy 16U beat NorCal Baseball 2018 11-3 Sunday morning at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Anthony Cosenza (2017, Peoria, AZ) led the All-Star offense, going 3-for-3 with two runs, two stolen bases and an RBI. Teammate Dylan Bonzo (2017, Peoria, AZ) went 2-for-4 with two triples and four RBI. 

RHP Zachary Griffin (2017, Peoria, AZ) started and pitched 4.0 innings for All Star, striking out five. He worked in the 75-83 mph range with a low-70s curve and low-70s changeup. Teammate 2B/RHP Jesus Aldaz (2016, Phoenix, AZ) fanned three in 2.0 relief innings. Aldaz fired strikes at 81-85.

OF/RHP Jakob Frederick (2018, Antelope, CA) pitched 3.1 innings for NorCal, striking out five. Frederick worked in the 75-81 mph range with a low-60s curve and upper-60s changeup. Teammate RHP Sam Stoutenborough (2018, Monterey, CA) was in the 79-83 mph range with a mid-60s curve vs. the two batters he faced.


All Star Academy holds off Lamorinda in 8-7 win

After leading 5-0 through four innings, All Star Baseball Academy 16U held off Lamorinda 16U's fierce comeback to secure an 8-7 consolation game win Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Seven different players recorded a hit for All Star, including David Avitia Duarte (2017, Phoenix, AZ), who went 2-for-2 with a walk and two RBI. Hunter Schilperoort (2017, Campbell, CA) was the offensive star for Lamorinda, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBI.

RHP Clay Schwaner (2017, Peoria, AZ) started and pitched 4.2 innings for All Star. He worked in the 78-81 mph range with an upper-60s curve. Teammate 2B/RHP Anthony Cosenza (2017, Peoria, AZ) tossed 2.1 innings in relief. His heater registered in the 77-79 mph range. Consenza also flashed a mid-60s curve.


Scorpions egde Aces, 2-1

The Arizona Scorpions Baseball Club's two 1st inning runs held up as they beat the Chico Aces 2-1 in their consolation game Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

RHP Jake Oblas (2016, Gunter, TX) and Joseph Barfield (2017, Pearland, TX) each pitched an inning in relief for the Scorpions. Oblas worked in the 76-80 mph range with a low-70s changeup; Barfield was clocked at 79-81 mph with an upper-60s curve.

For Chico, RHP Cody Jensen (2018, Roseville, CA) started and pitched 3.0 innings, striking out six. He worked in the 79-81 mph range with an upper-60s curve and low-70s changeup. Teammate RHP Joe Boyle (2017, Yuba City, CA) pitched 3.0 innings in relief, striking out three. Boyle was in the 78-82 mph range with a low-60s curve.

Showtime's late fireworks lead to 11-5 win

Showtime Baseball pounded-out 13 hits in their 11-5 consolation game win over the Illinois Indians Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex. Showtime held a 2-0 lead after 5 innings, but scored five in the 6th, four in the 7th and held off the Indians' five-run 7th to secure the wild win.

Taryn Yarnell (2017, Vancouver, WA) and Nick Jennings (2017, Vancouver, WA) each had three hits for Showtime. Yarnell doubled in scored twice in four at-bats; Jennings hit a pair of doubles, scored twice, drove in two and stole a base. Teammate Conner Coerper (2018, Parkdale, OR) filled the box score as well, going 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, two runs and two RBI.

On the mound, the right-handed Jennings struck out six in 5.0 innings. His fastball sat at 71-76 mph with a mid-60s curve. Teammate RHP Tyler Russell (2018, Battle Ground, WA) was in the 75-79 mph range in his 2.0 relief innings. Russell also flashed an upper-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

For Illinois, Connor Watrous (2017, Wilmette, IL) led the offense going 2-for-3 with a run and two RBI.

Hernandez's late 2-run single gives Phenom 4-2 W

Phenom Baseball 16U Elite rallied with a three-run 7th inning to complete the 4-2 comeback win in their consolation game with the Tucson Champs Monday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex. Anthony Hernandez (2016, La Puente, CA) drove in the game-winning runs with his two-run single.

RHP Kyle Damasco (2017, Hacienda Heights, CA) started and pitched 5.2 innings for Phenom, working in the 75-79 mph range with a low-60s curve. Teammate SS/RHP Jonathan Hernandez (2017, Whittier, CA) fanned two of the four batters he faced while firing strikes at 80-82 mph with a low-70s curve.

For Tucson, 3B/RHP Saul Escarrega (2018, Tucson, AZ) pitched all 7.0 innings, striking out 10. The 5-foot-11, 220-pounder worked in the 74-79 mph range with an upper-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

6-run 1st fuels Team Northwest's 12-2 win

Keyed by a six-run 1st inning, Team Northwest 15U rolled to a 12-2 consolation game win over San Diego Show 16U Blue Monday afternoon at Westview HS.

Team Northwest received multi-hit efforts from: Cody Darcy (2018, Kent, WA), Jared Maxfield (2017, Lynnwood, WA) and Anderson Crawford (2017, Poulsbo, WA). Crawford led the team with a double, a triple and three RBI.

SS/RHP Jake Dukart (2018, Lake Oswego, OR) started and pitched 5.0 innings for Team Northwest, striking out four. He worked in the 79-82 mph range with a mid-60s curve.

8-run 2nd keys Blizzard Blue's 9-2 win

Fueled by an eight-run 2nd inning, MN Blizzard Blue beat Cleats Baseball 9-2 in their Monday afternoon consolation game at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Samuel Carlson (2017, Savage, MN) led Blizzard Blue with two hits, including a triple. He also drive in a run and scored twice. Teammate Reid Conlee (2017, Blaine, MN) went 1-for-2 with a double and three RBI. RHP Erik Holloman (2017, Shoreview, MN) tossed an inning of relief, firing strikes at 80-81 mph.

For Cleats Baseball, C/RHP Brady Welch (2018, Sun City, AZ) worked in the 75-79 mph range with an upper-60s curve in 4.1 innings.

NorCal rallies to down Blizzard Black, 5-3

NorCal Baseball 2018 scored two runs in the top of the 6th to down MN Blizzard Black 5-3 in their Monday morning consolation game at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Vinny Tosti (2018, Santa Rosa, CA) led NorCal with two hits from the leadoff spot, and teammates Jakob Frederick (2018, Antelope, CA) and Marc Lidd (2018, Irvine, CA) each went 1-for-2 with a walk and two RBI.

RHP Joshua Peterson (2017, Ham Lake, MN) started and pitched 3.0 one-hit innings for Blizzard Black, striking out four. He worked in the 76-80 mph range, peaking at 81 with a low-70s curve. Teammate RHP Joe Cable (2017, Waconia, MN) pitched in the 78-80 mph range, peaking at 82 in his inning of relief.

808 trumps Vipers in 6-2 win

808 Baseball Academy beat the West Hills Vipers 16U 6-2 in their Monday morning consolation game at Westview HS.

Travis Delima (2017, Pukalani, HI) led the 808 offense with a game-high two hits from the leadoff spot. Teammate Brent Alamilo (2018, Waipahu, HI) filled the box score, going 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and two runs.

RHP Melese Crowley (2017, Poulsbo, WA) started and pitched two innings for the Vipers, working in the 74-78 mph range. He also flashed a mid-60s curve. Teammate OF/RHP Tyler Lacy (2018, Port Orchard, WA) fanned five in 2.0 relief innings. Lacy was in the 75-78 mph range with a mid-60s curve.

4-run 3rd inning propels Reds to 7-4 win

Keyed by a four-run 3rd inning, the North Coast Reds beat Gamers Baseball Alaska 7-4 in their consolation game Monday morning at the Camelback Ranch Complex. 

Eight different players recorded a hit for the Reds, while Raleigh Pigg (2017, Anchorage, AK) tallied a game-high two hits and an RBI for Alaska.

RHP Zachary Chalmers (2017, San Ramon, CA) starting and pitched 2.1 innings for North Coast, striking out four. Chalmers worked in the 76-83 mph range with a low-70s curve.

T-Rex tops the Show to win MLK Championship

AZ T-Rex Baseball Club defeated the San Diego Show 8-0 to win the 2015 16U MLK Championship.  Blake Paugh (2017, Chaparral HS, AZ) powered T-Rex to the win going 1-2 with a grand slam home run in the 1st inning.  Connor McCord (2016, Corona Del Sol HS, AZ) also impressed going 1-3 with 2 RBI.    

Oregon commit, Boyd Vander Kooi (2017, Skyline HS, AZ), started and earned the win for T-Rex tossing 5 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 6 batters.  Vander Kooi featured an 82-86/87 mph fastball and mixed in a low 70's slider.  He also scored 1 run and stole 1 base offensively.  

For the Show, Connor Konishi (2017, Helix HS, CA) and Jose Cerda (2017, Montgomery HS, CA) each had a base hit.

The San Diego Show defeated Team Phenom 8-3 to advance to the 16U Championship game.  Zack Prajzner (2018, San Marcos HS, CA) led the way for the Show offense going 3-4 with 2 RBI and 1 stolen base.  Zach Sehgal (2017, La Jolla HS, CA) also showed well going 2-3 with 1 double, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.  Chase Wehsenger (2017, Christian HS, CA) added in a strong day at the plate going 2-3 with 1 double and 1 RBI, while Andrew Crane (2017, San Marcos HS, CA) went 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  Hunter Isbell (2017, Helix HS, CA) went 1-3 with 1 double and 2 RBI as well.  

Southern California commit, Kyle Hurt (2017, Torrey Pines HS, CA), started and won the game for the Show tossing 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 10 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 6 batters.  Hurt featured an 82-86/87 mph fastball and mixed in a 71-73 mph curveball.  

For Team Phenom, Sean Osceola (2018, Okeechobee HS, FL) went 3-3 with 1 double and Jared Toothman (2017, Bakersfield Christian HS, CA) went 2-3 with 2 runs scored.  

T-Rex advances to Championship

AZ T-Rex Baseball Club defeated the East Bay Bombers 8-0 in their semifinal game to advance to the Championship.  Scott Mehan (2017, Cactus Shadows HS, AZ) led the way for T-Rex going 3-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 3 RBI.  Zach Baptist (2017, Boulder Creek HS, AZ) added in a 2-3 day from the leadoff spot with 1 double, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base.  Jacob Gonzalez (2017, Chaparral HS, AZ) also showed well going 1-3 with 3 RBI.  

Connor McCord (2016, Corona Del Sol HS, AZ) started and earned the win for T-Rex tossing 5 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits and no walks, while recording 1 strikeout.  McCord featured a 75-79/81 mph fastball and mixed in a 61-64 mph changeup.  

For the Bombers, Robbie Brue (2017, Castro Valley HS, CA) went 2-2 at the plate.  

Vargas helps Phenom walk-off to the Semifinals

Team Phenom defeated NorCal Baseball 2-1 on a walk-off single from Tyler Vargas (2018, Quartz Hill HS, CA) to advance to the quarterfinals.  Jordan Keller (2019, Woodcrest Christian HS, CA) added in a 1-3 day with 1 RBI and Nick O'Day (2018, Bishop Shananan HS, PA) went 1-3 with 1 run scored.  

Everett Hurst (2017, Sebring HS, FL) earned the win in relief for Team Phenom tossing 2 no-hit innings allowing just 1 walk, while striking out 4 batters.  Hurst featured an 81-84/85 mph fastball and mixed in a 74-75 mph slider.  

For NorCal, Hance Smith (2017, Casa Grande HS, CA) went 2-3 and Jimmy McClenaghan (2017, Joseph A Gregori HS, CA) went 1-3 with 1 RBI.

The AZ T-Rex Baseball Club defeated War Eagle 8-0 in their quarterfinal game to advance.  Donovan McMullen (2016, Shadow Mountain HS, AZ) led the way for the T-Rex offense going 1-1 with 1 double, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI, 2 stolen bases  and 2 walks.  Jacob Gonzalez (2017, Chaparral HS, AZ) went 2-3 with 1 RBI and 1 stolen base, while Zach Baptist (2017, Boulder Creek HS, AZ) went 2-3 with 1 run scored and 1 stolen base.  

Blake Paugh (2017, Chaparral HS, AZ) started and earned the win for T-Rex going 5 shutout innings allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 6 batters.  Paugh primarily featured a 75-79/82 mph fastball on the mound.

The East Bay Bombers defeated the Phenom National Team 5-3 to advance to the semifinals.  Dawsen Bacho (2016, San Marin HS, CA) led the way for the Bombers' offense going 2-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Miguel Delfin (2017, Leadership PS-Hayward HS, CA) added in a 1-3 day with 2 RBI and Ernesto Fernandez (2017, Mt Pleasant HS, CA) went 2-2.

Sai Davuluri (2017, El Capitan HS, CA) started and earned the win for the Bombers tossing 7 strong innings allowing 3 runs, 1 earned, on 7 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 9 batters.  Davuluri featured an 80-84 mph fastball and mixed in a 67-70 mph curveball and a 72-74 mph slider.  

For the Phenom National Team, James Jeffrey Vance Janco (2017, Prosper HS, TX) went 2-3 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.

The San Diego Show defeated Team California Baseball 9-0 to advance to the semifinals.  Zach Sehgal (2017, La Jolla HS, CA) led the way for the Show offense showing a quick bat and a short, compact swing as he went 2-3 with 1 triple, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Hunter Isbell (2017, Helix HS, CA) added in a 2-3 day with 1 triple, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Chase Wehsener (2017, Christian HS, CA) added in a 2-2 day at the plate with 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  

Joseph Magrisi (2018, Rancho Bernardo HS, CA) started and earned the win for the Show tossing 5 shutout innings allowing 7 hits and no walks, while striking out 3 batters.  Magrisi featured a 79-82/83 mph fastball and mixed in a 67-70 mph curveball.  

For Team California, Jeremy Santana (2017, Kofa HS, AZ) and Damien Rinehart (2017, Kofa HS, CA) each went 2-3.

Toothman hits, pitches Phenom to 7-0 win

Team Phenom pounded-out 11 hits in their 7-0 win over Gamers Baseball Alaska Sunday morning at Westview HS.

Diego Alarcon (2017, Lennox, CA) and Chris Demgen (2017, Carlsbad, CA) recorded two hits each for Phenom. Teammate Jared Toothman (2017, Bakersfield, CA) went 1-for-2 with a home run. On the mound, Toothman fanned three in 2.0 relief innings. His fastball sat in the 76-78 mph range. 

RHP Everett Hurst (2017, Sebring, FL) started and pitched 3.0 innings for Phenom, striking out five. He showed a live arm, pitching inside effectively and attacking hitters at 83-85 mph with cutting action. Hurst also showed good command of his mid-70s slider. Teammate RHP Nick O'Day (2018, Coatesville, PA) struck out the side in his inning of relief. His fastball sat in the 80-84 mph range with a low-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

Corral's 3 hits lead Tucson to 9-3 win

The Tuscon Champs recorded nine hits and walked eight times in their 9-3 win over Team Northwest 16U Sunday morning at Sunrise Mountain HS.

Michael Corral (2018, Tucson, AZ) put up a game-high three hits for Tucson. For Team Northwest, 
Nathan Hutson (2017, Shelton, WA), Akiyoshi Buckson (2016, Silverdale, WA) and Kolby Force (2017, Payallup, WA) each recorded two-hit efforts. On the mound, Buckson's fastball sat at 83-84 mph.

RHP Garrett Fernandes (2017, Portland, OR) started and pitched 3.0 innings for Northwest, working in the 76-79 mph range with an upper-60s curve. Teammate IF/LHP Nick Miller (2017, Issaquah, WA) also worked up to 79 mph in his 2.0 relief innings. 

San Diego Show whacks 11 hits in 10-5 win

The San Diego Show 16U Blue pounded-out 11 hits in their 10-5 win over 808 Baseball Academy Sunday morning at Raymond S. Kellis HS.

Four different players recorded multi-hit efforts for the Show, including: Carson Greene (2018, San Diego, CA), Bradley Polinsky (2018, San Diego, CA), Cade Brown (2018, Cardiff, CA) and Nick Keltner (2017, San Diego, CA). Greene and Polinsky also added three RBI a piece. 

RHP Nick Nastrini (2018, San Diego, CA) pitched 3.0 relief innings for the Show, striking out three. The 5-foot-11, 140-pounder worked downhill with cutting action on his fastball in the 78-81 mph range. He also flashed an upper-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

Two-hitter for the Cowboys

The Saddleback Cowboys limited Team Citius USA to two hits in their 5-4 win.  Michael Cramer (2017, Tersoro, CA) started and pitched two perfect innings while striking out two.  Kyle Kelley (2017, River Springs Charter, CA) came in next. In two innings, he struck out two but walked two.  Eric Winston (2017, Barstow, CA) threw the rest of the game. He fanned five and allowed a hit in three innings. Jake Jackson (2017, El Toro, CA) led the offense with two singles and three RBI's. 

Alejandro Trevino (2017, Laredo United, TX) started and lasted five innings. He struck out four and walked one. Trenton McMeans (2017, Dulles, TX) threw two perfect innings and fanned three in the loss. 

Franks fans nine in tie

In a low scoring game, Cleats Baseball and Chico Aces end up in a 1-1 tie.  Tyler Franks (2017, Heritage, CA) threw a complete game for Aces. He struck out nine but allowed seven hits. He also had two hits including a double. His high 70's heater touched 82 mph. 

Nicholas Labella (2017, Desert Ridge, AZ) lead the Cleats with two singles while Brady Welch (2018, Liberty, AZ) singled twice.  Michael Sears (2017, Millennium, AZ) threw six innings and struck out three in the tie. 

Maxfield scores five in win

Jared Maxfield (2017, Mountlake Terrace, WA) plates five runs for Team Northwest 15U in their 12-6 win over Iowa Sluggers. He had two hits including a triple.  Cody Darcy (2018, Kentwood, WA) pitched in with a single, double, and two RBI's.  Gregg Mehlhaff (2018, West Linn, WA) went 1 for 2 and two runs batted in. 

Brayden Frazier (2018, Thomas Jefferson, IA) led the Sluggers with a doubled that plated two runs.  Ethan Hayes (2017, Cedar Falls, IA) helped out with a triple and came around to score. 

Show tops Indians

San Diego Show racked up 11 hits in their 9-1 win over Illinois Indians. Jose Cerda (2017, Montgomery, CA) led the offense with three hits including a double and a triple. He also drove in three runs.  Hunter Isbell (2017, Helix, CA) pitched in with a double and triple while also plating three runs. Sam Miller (2016, Cathedral Catholic, CA) started and lasted three innings. He struck out four while allowing just one hit. His low 80's fastball reached 85 mph. Chase Wehsener (2017, Christian, CA) allowed a hit and three strikeouts in two innings of work.

Nathaniel Segura (2016, St Patrick, IL) had a double for the Indians. 

NorCal and Vipers end up in a tie

Neither team could pull away as NorCal Baseball and West Hills Vipers 16U tie 4-4. Tate Soderstrom (2017, Turlock, CA) led NorCal with two singles that plated two runs. Bradley Norton (2017, Amador Valley, CA) pitched in with two hits and came around to score twice. Griffin McGarry (2017, Menlo-Atherton, CA) started and lasted 2 1/3 innings. He struck out three but allowed four hits. His heater was in the low 80's and touched 86 mph. 

Nick Hull (2017, Edmonds Woodway, WA) threw seven solid innings for the Vipers. He struck out eight and walked only three batters. He fastball was between 78-82 mph and touched 84.  

McConnell goes for 3 RBI in War Eagle's 8-0 win

War Eagle hung crooked numbers in three of five innings to down Lamorinda 16U 8-0 Sunday morning at Liberty HS.

RHP Noah Schoenhardt (2017, Mesa, AZ) tossed 5.0 innings of two-hit ball for War Eagle, striking out seven. He worked in the 76-80 mph range, peaking at 81. 

Anthony Crisci (2017, Mesa, AZ) and Dylan McConnell (2016, Mesa, AZ) recorded multi-hit games for War Eagle, each going 2-for-3 with a run scored. McConnell also drove in three runs.

Blizzards plate 12 in win

MN Blizzard Blue explodes for 12 runs in their win over Arizona Scorpions Baseball Club. Ben Livorsi (2017, Minnetonka, MN) had a great day at the plate by going 3 for 3 with a grand slam. He also drove in six runs.  Erik Holloman (2017, Mounds View, MN) pitched in with two hits including a double and a runner batted in. Jordan Schramel (2017, Delano, MN) started and lasted three innings. He struck out five while allowing two hits.  Charlie Horton (2017, Maple Grove, MN) came in to pitch the fourth and fifth. He gave up a hit and fanned four. 

Conner Thurman (2018, Desert Ridge, AZ) started for Arizona. He struck out five and gave up four hits in 2 1/3 innings of work.  Tyler Cranston (2018, Notre Dame, AZ) had all three hits for Arizona. 

Davila powers Cintron to 7-4 win

Alex Cintron Baseball scored in each of the last four innings to secure a 7-4 win over the North Coast Reds Sunday morning at Desert Edge HS.

Diego Davila (2018, Spring, TX) led Cintron's offensive attacking, going 2-for-2 with a home run, a walk and two runs. 

For the Reds, Nick Caviglia (2018, Fresno, CA) went 2-for-3 with a double, a triple and a run scored. Teammate RHP Kyle Hinds (2017, Moraga, CA) started and pitched 2.0 innings, striking out four. Hinds worked in the 75-80 mph range with a low-70s curve.

2017 RHP touches 90 mph in Phenom's 16-4 W

Fueled by a nine-run 1st inning, Phenom National Team pounded-out 14 hits in four innings on their way to a 16-4 win over MN Blizzard Black Sunday morning at Sierra Linda HS.

Donovan Langston (2017, Frisco, TX) led the way with three hits, three runs and five RBI from the leadoff spot. Teammate Collin Reiter (2017, Frisco, TX) went 1-for-2 with a home run, a walk and two RBI. Three others recorded two-hit efforts for Phenom, including: David Bedgood (2017, Sherman, TX), Connor Cannon (2016, Temecula, CA) and Stephen Keller (2017, Huffman, TX). On the mound, Keller struck out four in 2.0 innings, pounding the zone at 86-90 mph range with a mid-70s curve. 

California rallies to salvage 6-6 tie

Team California Baseball scored one run in the bottom of the 7th inning to salvage a 6-6 tie with Advanced Baseball Academy 16 Prospects Sunday morning at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

The two teams combined for 23 hits, including a game-high three by Advanced's Nevin Campin (2017, Overland Park, KS). Teammates Mitchell Bloss (2017, Overland Park, KS) and Nick Salpas (2017, Gardner, KS) recorded two hits each.

Keyed by a four-run 3rd inning, AZ T-Red Baseball Club beat Phenom Baseball 16U Elite 5-1 Sunday morning at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Connor McCord (2016, Gilbert, AZ) led the T-Rex offense, going 1-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Teammate RHP Zane Strand (2016, Chandler, AZ) pitched all 7.0 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out 15. Strand displayed a quick arm action, attacking hitters and firing strikes in the 79-85 mph range with an upper-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

Strand's counterpart, RHP Jarred Wood (2017, Cedar Rapids, IA), fanned four batters in 6.0 innings for Phenom Elite. Wood worked in the 79-84 mph range with a mid-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

Bombers rally to win 9-7

The East Bay Bombers scored two runs in the top of the 5th in their 9-7 comeback win over Showtime Baseball Sunday morning at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

Seven different players recorded a hit for East Bay, including Miguel Delfin (2017, Hayward, CA) and 
Eddie Lopez (2017, Castro Valley, CA), who tallied two RBI each. 

For Showtime, Tanner Jacques (2017, Vancouver, WA) and Taryn Yarnell (2017, Vancouver, WA) recorded two RBI each. Teammate Tyler Russell (2018, Battle Ground, WA) went 2-for-3 from the leadoff spot.

Keyed by four-run innings in the 4th and 6th, Phenom Baseball 16U Elite beat the Iowa Sluggers 8-4 Saturday afternoon at Westview HS.

Jaren Lonzo (2016, Riverside, CA) led the Phenom offense, going 2-for-3 with two runs and three RBI.

RHP Austin Peters (2017, Corona, CA) started and pitched 4.0 innings for Phenom, striking out three. He worked in the 78-80 mph range with an upper-60s curve. His counterpart, RHP William Rodruck (2017, West Des Moines, IA) fanned four in 5.0 innings. Rodruck sat at 78-8- mph with a low-70s curve.

Arizona Scorpions Baseball Club's 1st-inning run held up as they shutout Showtime Baseball 1-0 Saturday afternoon at Sunrise Mountain HS.

RHP Jake Oblas (2016, Gunter, TX) allowed just one hit in 3.0 relief innings for the Scorpions. Oblas worked in the 77-80 mph range with a low-70s curve.

RHP Daniel Copeland (2018, Vancouver, WA) started and pitched 5.0 innings for Showtime, striking out four. He worked in the 75-79 mph range with a mid-60s curve.

Keyed by a six-run 2nd inning, the Tucson Champs beat the Illinois Indians 10-1 Saturday afternoon at Sunrise Mountain HS. The Champs scored their 10 runs on seven walks and four hits, including two by Michael Corral (2018, Tucson, AZ).

RHP Adam Moraga (2016, Tucson, AZ) fanned seven in 5.0 innings for Tucson. His fastball sat at 80-85 mph with a mid-60s curve. 

Soderstrom's walk-off single leads NorCal to win

With the game tied 4-4 in the bottom of the 7th inning, Tate Soderstrom (2017, Turlock, CA) delivered a bases loaded, walk-off single to lift NorCal Baseball 2017 to a 5-4 win over North Coast Reds Saturday afternoon at Sierra Linda HS.

NorCal's Spencer Torkelson (2017, Petaluma, CA) led all players with three hits and two RBI. He also walked and stole a base. 

SS/RHP Gio Diaz (2017, Brentwood, CA) fanned two in 1.2 innings, working in the 77-84 mph range with a low-70s curve and low-70s changeup. Teammate 3B/RHP Dusty Schramm (2018, Clovis, CA) struck out four in 4.1 relief innings. The 6-foot, 175-pounder fired strikes at 76-80 mph with a mid-60s curve and low-70s changeup.

California edges All Stars in 2-1 pitching duel

Team California Baseball beat All Star Baseball Academy 16U 2-1 Saturday afternoon at Sierra Linda HS. 

Both starting pitchers excelled, as California's Dylan Johnson pitched 4.0 innings of two-hit ball, working in the 72-79 mph range. He also flashed a mid-60s curve. At the plate, he went 2-for-2 with a run scored and an RBI. Johnson's counterpart RHP/3B Anthony Quattrocchi (2017, Peoria, AZ) pitched all 7.0 innings, working in the 78-81 mph range. He also showed a low-70s curve. 

Sam Stewart (2017, Sun City, AZ) led the All Stars with two hits.

Pitching shines in 0-0 tie

Pitching dominated as San Diego Show 16U Blue and Lamorinda 16U played to a 0-0 tie Saturday afternoon at the Camelback Ranch Complex.

LHP/1B Hunter Schilperoort (2017, Campbell, CA) pitched all 7.0 innings for Lamorinda, allowing two hits while striking out eight. His fastball sat in the 74-78 mph range with a low-60s curve. His counterpart, RHP Dominic Medina (2017, San Diego, CA), fanned seven in 7.0 three-hit innings. Medina's fastball sat at 72-74 mph. He also flashed a low-60s curve.

Alex Howard (2018, Walnut Creek, CA) recorded the game's only multi-hit effort, going 2-for-2 with a double.

Arlellano fans 13 batters

Carlos Arlellano pitched a two hitter for Team California Baseball in their 7-0 win over NorCal Baseball 2018. He struck out an impressive 13 batters but walked four. His fastball was between 80-82 mph and touched 85. Dylan Johnson led the offense with two singles and an RBI.  Arellano went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Max Crabbe (2018, Mater Dei, CA) pitched in by singling in two runs.

Mitchell Scott (2018, Junipero Serra, CA) started for NorCal. In four innings, he fanned three and gave up five hits. 

Phenom slips past Aces

In an offensive game, Phenom National Team edges Chico Aces in their 8-7 win.  Gage Johnson (2016, Pinnacle, AZ) led the attack with three hits including a triple and three RBI's.  Easton Murrell (2017, Prosper, TX) pitched in with two singles that drove in two.  James Jeffery Vance Janco (2017, Prosper, TX) went 2 for 3 in the win. Hunter Goodson (2017, Kingston, OK) threw 1 2/3 innings. He struck out four while allowing two hits.

Tyler Franks (2017, Heritage, CA) led the Aces with two hits including a triple.  Ben Miller (2018, St Mary's, CA) doubled in two runs while Colby Harrison (2017, De La Salle, CA) went 2 for 3.  Joe Boyle (2017, River Valley, CA) also doubled in two runners. Boyle also pitched 2 1/3 innings. He struck out five and allowed three hits.

Good pitching helps War Eagle beat 808 Baseball Academy 3-2.  Tyler B started and lasted three innings. He struck out four and gave up two hits. Jake Matson (2017, Westwood, AZ) came in to finish. In four innings, he allowed two hits and fanned three. 

Mattingly Ho (2018, Kamehameha Schools, HI) had two singles for 808. Nicholas Barendrick (2018, Saguaro, AZ) threw five innings and struck out five in the loss.

Ross Bastyr (2017, Lakeville North, MN) threw a solid game for MN Blizzard Black in their 3-1 win over Cleats Baseball. In 6 2/3 innings, he struck out six while allowing five hits and a walk. Trent Palmer (2017, Anoka, MN) led the attack with two hits including a double and two RBI's.

Nicholas Labella (2017, Desert Ridge, AZ) went 2 for 3 for Cleats, with one hit being a double. Matthew Liberatore (2018, Mountain Ridge, AZ) started and threw four innings. He struck out seven and allowed just two hits.

Nick O'Day (2018, Bishop Shananan, PA) leads Team Phenom to a 10-0 win over Team Citius USA.  He had two triples and drove in five runs. Brendan Tinsman (2018, Cape Elizabeth, ME) singled in a run in the win. Eric Chavarria (2017, Mayfair, CA) started and lasted four innings. He struck out five and gave up a hit.  Connor Martin (2018, Capistrano Valley, CA) came in to pitch the five inning. He gave up a hit and fanned two.

Dillon Nesbit (2017, Klein Collins, TX) started for Citius. In 1 2/3 inning, he struck out two and allowed two hits. His low 80's heater touched 83 mph.

Allen does it all in win

Mitchell Allen (2016, Boulder Creek, AZ) helped AZ T-Rex Baseball Club beat Team Northwest 15U 6-1.  In five innings, he struck out fix while allowing three hits. His low 80's heater touched 86 mph.  Blake Paugh (2017, Chaparral, AZ) led the offense with two singles and an RBI. Allen helped out with two hits and came around to score. 

Gregg Mehlhaff (2018, West Linn, WA) threw 3 1/3 innings and struck out two.  Cole Kinman (2018, West Linn, OR) struck out two and gave up two hits in 2 1/3 innings of work. 

Show win against Team Northwest

The San Diego Show defeated Team Northwest 16U 6-3 thanks to a 3-run rally in the bottom of the 5th to break the tie.  Southern California commit, Kyle Hurt (2017, Torrey Pines HS, CA), led the Show offense going 1-3 with 2 RBI at the plate.  Zach Sehgal (2017, La Jolla HS, CA) also impressed going 1-2 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 walk.  Jose Cerda (2017, Montgomery HS, CA) added in a 1-2 day with 1 double and 1 RBI.  Nick Gallardo (2016, Scripps Ranch HS, CA) and Zack Prajzner (2018, San Marcos HS, CA) each picked up 1 hit, 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk for the Show as well.  

Prajzner also earned the win on the mound tossing 4 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk, while striking out 3 batters.  Prajzner featured a 78-81 mph fastball and a handful of mid 60's curveballs.  

For Team Northwest, John Collin Richards (2016, Coeur D'Alene HS, ID) went 2-2 with 1 double and Cody Kehl (2017, Quincy HS, WA) went 1-1 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 1 walk.

The West Hills Vipers 16U tied Alex Cintron Baseball 5-5.  

For Alex Cintron Baseball, Eddie Lopez (2017, Langham Creek HS, TX) led the way for their offense going 1-1 with 2 RBI and 1 walk.  Alexander Lopez (2019, Memorial HS, TX) also impressed showing good bat speed and a short, compact swing as he went 1-2 with 1 double and 1 walk.  

Ben Whitt (2017, Timberline HS, WA) helped spark the Vipers' offense by going 1-2 with 1 double, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI and 1 stolen base from the leadoff spot.  Jerrit Chenier (2017, South Kitsap HS, WA) added in 1 RBI and 1 stolen base on the day.  

Cowboys walk-off against Gamers

The Saddleback Cowboys defeated Gamers Baseball Alaska 9-8 thanks to a walk-off sac fly from Micah Anselmo (2017, Calvary Christian HS, CA) in the bottom of the 6th.  On the day Anselmo went 1-2 with 1 double, 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Ryan Kerney (2017, El Toro HS, CA) also showed well at the plate going 2-3 with 1 triple, 1 double, 2 runs scored and 1 RBI.  Michael Cramer (2017, Tesoro HS, CA) added in a 1-3 performance with 1 triple, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  

Justin Dunham (2017, San Juan Hills HS, CA) earned the win in relief for the Cowboys as he tossed 1 scoreless inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 1 batter.  Dunham featured primarily fastballs on the mound which ranged from 76-80 mph.  

For the Gamers, Julito Fazzini (2017, South Anchorage HS, AK) went 2-4 with 2 triples, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Sladen Mohl (2017, South Anchorage HS, AK) went 1-2 with 1 triple, 2 runs scored, 2 RBI and 1 walk, while Noah Alexander (2017, Dimond HS, AK) went 1-3 with 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  
  

Comeback win for Bombers

Dawsen Bacho (2016, San Marin, Ca) hit a grand slam in the bottom of the seventh for East Bay Bombers in their 5-2 win over MN Blizzard Blue. Emilio Vasquez (2017, Mt. Eden, Ca) started and lasted four innings. He struck out five and walked one.  Sai Davuluri (2017, El Capitan, CA) threw three innings and struck out three. He threw his fastball between 81-82 mph and touched 85. 

Alex Belch (2017, John Marshall, MN) started for the Blizzard. In 3 1/3 innings, he struck out five but walked six. His heater was in the low 80's and touched 85 mph. Samuel Carlson (2017, Burnsville, MN) came in to throw the next three innings. He struck out two and gave up three hits. His mid 80's fastball reached 88 mph.  Erik Holloman (2017, Mounds View, MN) went 2 for 2 in the loss. 

Academy tops Prospects

In a high scoring game, All Star Baseball Academy came out on top in the 9-6 win over Advanced Baseball Academy 16 Prospects.  Grant Lung (2017, Liberty, AZ) went 3 for 4 with a triple while Jesus Aldaz (2016, Alhambra, AZ) had three hits including a homer and a double. He also drove in two runs.  Anthony Cosenza (2017, Sandra Day O'Connor, AZ) pitched in with three hits including a double and two RBI's. 

Grant McMillen (2016, Chanute, KS) threw three innings for the Prospects. He struck out five and did not allow a walk. Brandon Shaw (2017, Blue Valley West, KS) led the offense with three hits including a triple and two RBI's.

A big fourth inning for AZ T-Rex Baseball helps them beat Iowa Sluggers 9-0.  Scott Mehan (2017, Cactus Shadows, AZ) had a two-run homer while Mitchel Allen (2016, Boulder Creek, AZ) hit a solo jack.  Zack Baptist (2017, Boulder Creek, AZ) went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.  Connor McCord (2016, Corona Del Sol, AZ) threw five innings. He struck out eight while allowing just two hits.

Will Bausinger (2016, Marquette Senior, MO) started for Iowa.  In two innings, he allowed one hit and struck out three. 

Onomiya hits a grand slam in win

MN Blizzard Blue's offense explodes for a 13-1 win over Showtime Baseball. Nick Onomiya (2017, Cretin Derham Hall, MN) had a grand slam in the win as well as a single.  Ben Livorsi (2017, Minnetonka, MN) went 2 for 3 with two RBI's.  Samuel Carlson (2017, Burnsville, MN) doubled in two runs.  Brock Anderson (2018, Jefferson, MN) pitched in with two singles and came around to score three times. Anderson started and three three innings. He struck out six while allowing just one hit. His low 80's heater touched 83 mph. Hunter Schoenrock (2017, Jefferson, MN) pitched a perfect fourth inning. He fanned two.

Taryn Yarnell (2017, Battle Ground, WA) went 1 for 2 with Showtime's only RBI.

Even though they were outhit, Lamorinda 16U comes away with a 12-6 win over 808 Baseball Academy.  Hunter Schilperoort (2017, Westmont, CA) led the offense with three hits including a triple and two RBI's.  Jackson Driver (2017, College Park, CA) went 2 for 2 with a double and drove in four.  Alex Howard (2018, Northgate, CA) also had a single and a double. 

Ekolu Watanabe (2017, Kamehameha Schools, HI ) led the 808 with two hits and two RBI's. One of his hits was a triple.  Travis Delima (2017, St. Anthony, HI) pitched in with two singles.  Jalen Ah Yat (2019, Kailua, HI) singled in two runs while Hunter Fujitani (2017, Kamehameha Schools, HI) went 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI.

Jose Pacheco Palacios (2018, St. Marys, AZ) threw a complete game for the East Bay Bombers in their 2-0 win over Arizona Scorpions Baseball Club.  He gave up four hits but struck out seven. His fastball was in the high 70's. Emilio Vasquez (2017, Mt Eden, CA) went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. 

Cooper Brown (2017, Horizon, AZ) started for the Scorpions. In three innings, he struck out four and gave up a hit.

He struck out three and gave up a hit.

It was a showdown between War Eagle and San Diego Show 16U Blue and it ended up in a 1-1 tie.  Nick Nastrini (2018, Cathedral Catholic, CA) led the Show with two hits including a double.  Michael Pendergast (2018, Cathedral Catholic, CA) pitched in wit two singles.  Tanner Smith (2018, West Hills, CA) threw the whole game. He struck out five and allowed four hits.

Michael Schermerhorn (2016, Mountain Pointe, AZ) started for the Eagles. In four innings, he struck out six and allowed three hits. Dylan McConnell (2016, Westwood, AZ) drove in the Eagles only run with a single.

A couple early runs helped San Diego Show top Tucson Champs 2-0. Zack Prajzner (2018, San Marcos, CA) led the offense with two singles and an RBI.  Jose Cerda (2017, Montgomery, CA) helped out with two hits. Cerda also pitched four solid innings. He struck out two and allowed just one hit. His heater was between 81-84 mph and topped out at 85.

Angel Chavez (2016, Nogales, AZ) threw for Tucson. In six innings, he struck out seven and gave up three singles. Nick Gonzales (2017, Cienega, AZ) went 2 for 3 with a triple. 

Cleats get a win

Cleats Baseball slid past Phenom National Team in their 3-2 win.  Mason Millett (2017, Boulder Creek, AZ) started and pitched 5 2/3 innings. He struck out seven and allowed five hits. His fastball was in the low 80's and touched 83 mph. On the offensive side, Nicholas Labella (2017, Desert Ridge, AZ) went 1 for 3 with a double that drove in two.  Trevor Felan (2018, Liberty) had two singles of his own. 

Donovan Langston (2017, Liberty, TX) threw for the Phenom. In four innings, he struck out eight and gave up one hit. He threw his fastball between 82-84 mph and it reached 85. Connor Hughes (2017, Sherman, TX) threw 1 1/3 inning and fanned three. Easton Murrell (2017, Prosper, TX) went 2 for 4 with a triple. Collin Reiter (2017, Legacy Christian Academy, TX) drove in two runs with a single.

The Chico Aces defeated the MN Blizzard Black 7-2 in their first game of the tournament.  Ben Miller (2018, St Mary's HS, CA) led the way for the Aces' offense going 2-3 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI.  Tyler Franks (2017, Heritage HS, CA) added in a 1-3 day at the plate with 1 triple, 1 run scored and 1 RBI.  Leadoff man, Cameron Allie (2018, Oak Ridge HS, CA), also impressed going 1-3 with 1 run scored and 2 stolen bases.  

Pepperdine commit, Cody Jensen (2018, Jesuit HS, CA), started and earned the win for the Aces tossing 3 dominant no-hit innings allowing just 1 walk, while recording 7 strikeouts.  Jensen featured a 78-82/84 mph fastball and mixed in a handful of 65-68 mph curveballs.  

For the Blizzard, Trent Palmer (2017, Anoka HS, MN) went 1-3 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  

NorCal wins over Alex Cintron Baseball

NorCal Baseball 2017 defeated Alex Cintron Baseball 5-3 in their first game of the tournament.  Danny Carnazzo (2017, Palma HS, CA) helped lead the way for NorCal's offense going 2-2 with 1 double, 2 runs scored, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.  California commit, Chris Joaquim (2017, Casa Grande HS, CA), also impressed going 2-2 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  Joaquim also showed good velocity on the mound seeing his fastball sit between 85-89 mph as he struck out the side in his 1 inning of work. 

Adam Kirk (2017, St Bernards's Catholic HS, CA) started and earned the win for NorCal tossing 3 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk, while striking out 1 batter.  Kirk featured a 77-82 mph fastball and mixed in a 64-67 mph curveball.  

For Alex Cintron Baseball, John Warren Marrow (2017, Stratford HS, TX) went 1-3 with 2 RBI.  

Phenom walk-off against Cowboys

Team Phenom defeated the Saddleback Cowboys 1-0 thanks to a walk-off triple in the bottom of the 7th from Nick O'Day (2018, Bishop Shanahan HS, PA).  Wake Forrest commit, Brendan Tinsman (2018, Cape Elizabeth HS, ME), added in a 1-3 day at the plate with 1 double.  

Patrick Wicklander (2018, Valley Christian Schools HS, CA) earned the win in relief for the Phenom tossing 2 no-hit innings and striking out 4 batters.  Wicklander showed good velocity in his stint on the mound, as he featured an 82-84/85 mph fastball.  Sean Osceola (2018, Middle School, FL) started and impressed on the mound going 5 shutout innings allowing just 3 hits and 1 walk, while striking out 8 batters.  Osceola threw a 74-79/80 mph fastball and also relied on his 69-71 mph curveball.  

For the Cowboys, Jake Jackson (2017, El Toro HS, CA) took the tough-luck-loss as he went 6 2/3 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 2 walks, while recording 5 strikeouts.  Jackson featured a 74-80/81 mph fastball and mixed in several 68-73 mph curveballs and a handful of 70-73 mph sliders.  

Reds rally past Vipers

The North Coast Reds defeated the West Hills Vipers 16U 10-6 thanks to a 7 run rally in the bottom of the 5th inning.  The Reds' offense was led by Aaron Johnson (2017, San Lorenzo HS, CA) who went 2-3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBI.  Jake Renteria (2018, Buchanan HS, CA) added in a 1-3 day at the plate with 2 runs scored.  

Christian Encarnacion Strand (2018, College Park HS, CA) earned the win in relief for the Reds tossing 1/3 of an inning.  Encarnacion Strand featured a 75-78 mph fastball while he was on the mound.  He also helped spark the offense from the leadoff spot going 2-3 with 1 run scored.  The Reds' starter, Zachary Chalmers (2017, California HS, CA) tossed 3 no-hit innings allowing 3 walks and recorded 6 strikeouts.  Chalmers showed impressive velocity with his fastball sitting between 80-84 mph fastball and mixed in a 68-71 mph curveball and a 72-76 mph changeup.  

For the Vipers, Aaron Corso (2018, South Kitsap HS, WA) and Drew Worden (2018, South Kitsap HS, WA) each posted a 1-2 day at the plate with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.  

Gamers top Team Citius

Gamers Baseball Alaska defeated Team Citius USA 5-2 in their first game of the tournament.  The Gamers' offense was led by Jonny Homza (2017, South Anchorage HS, AK) and Dylan Montagna (2017, Dimond HS, AK) who each went 2-3 with 1 RBI.  Julito Fazzini (2016, South Anchorage HS, AK) also impressed going 1-3 with 1 triple and 1 run scored.  Noah Alexander (2017, Dimond HS, AK) added in a 1-1 day at the plate with 2 runs scored, 2 stolen bases and 1 walk.

Korey Perry (2016, South Anchorage HS, AK) started and earned the win for the Gamers tossing 6 strong innings allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, on 5 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 4 batters.  Perry featured a 71-74/75 mph fastball and mixed in several 64-68 mph curveballs.  

For Team Citius, Omar Cervantes (2019, Laredo United HS, TX) went 2-2 with 1 run scored and 2 stolen bases, while Norberto Cervantes (2017, Laredo United HS, TX) went 1-2 with 1 double and 1 run scored.  


Indians win over Team Northwest

The Illinois Indians defeated Team Northwest 16U 7-3 in their first game of the tournament.  Aidan Cozzi (2016, The Latin School of Chicago, IL) led the way for the Indians' offense going 2-3 with 1 run scored and 3 RBI.  Jack Suwinski (2016, Taft HS, IL) also impressed going 1-2 with 1 triple, 2 runs scored and 2 walks.

Brett Wicklund (2017, Lane Technical HS, IL) started and earned the win for the Indians as he tossed 2 shutout innings allowing just 1 hit and no walks, while striking out 3 batters.  Wicklund threw all fastballs in his outing which ranged from 78-82 mph.  

For Team Northwest, Matthew Ellis (2017, Sam Barlow HS, OR) went 1-2 with 2 RBI and Kolby Force (2017, Gov John Rogers HS, WA) went 1-2 with 1 run scored, 1 RBI, 1 stolen base and 1 walk.
