Late Runs Seal Win for HP Maldonado

HP Maldonado grabbed late runs to seal the 9-3 blowout victory, defeating the East Cobb Astros 18, in the championship game of the 2014 PG EvoShield Classic 17/18.

Tyler Burdette (2015, Whitewater HS, GA) went 2-4 with a triple, single, and two RBIs in the game.  Nick DiPonzio (2016, Tattnall Square Academy, GA) also went 2-4 with a double, single, one run and one RBI.  Mcelwaney contributed, going 2-3 with two singles and one RBI.  Chase Allen (2015, Northgate HS, GA) went 1-3 with a single and three runs scored in the game.

Tyler Sellers (2015, Locust Grove HS, GA) pitched five innings of work, giving up just three hits and struck out three, while utilizing a fastball that topped out at 84 mph, and mixing in a handful of off-speed pitches.

For the Astros, Griffin Helms (2014, Norcross HS, GA) a Kennesaw State commit, went 2-3 with two singles and one RBI.  Keith Johnson (2019, Buford HS, GA) led the way, going 2-3 with a homerun, double, one run scored and two RBIs in the game.

The East cobb Astros 18 edged by the GBSA Blue Rays 6-5, to advance to the championship game.

Griffin Helms (2014, Norcross HS, GA) a Kennesaw State commit, led the way for the Astros, going 2-4 with a homerun, single, one run and two RBIs.  Trevor Devine (2014, North Cobb HS, GA) contributed with a 2-4 performance, with two singles and two runs scored.  Landon Faulkner (2014, Mt. Paran Christian, GA) also went 2-4 with two singles and one RBI.

Connor Bennett (2015, Buford HS, GA) a WVU commit, pitched three innings of work, giving up three earned runs on two hits, and struck out two.  He was around the plate with all of his pitches, and had a good fastball that peaked at 89 mph, and mixed in a handful of good curveballs and a changeup for his off-speed pitches.

For the Rays, Tekwaan Whyte (2015, Stephenson HS, GA) went 1-1 with a single and one run, and Jalen Jackson (2014, Heritage HS, GA) went 1-2 with a single and one RBI.

HP Maldonado cruised to the easy victory, defeating Team Alabama 8-0, to advance to the championship game.

Jake McFarland (2015, Ola HS, GA) led the way for HP, going 2-3 with a double, single, one run and two RBIs.  Nick DiPonio (2016, Tattnall Square Academy, GA) also went 2-3 with a double and single as well, and one run scored.  Tyler Burdette (2015, Whitewater HS, GA) went 1-2 with a single and two RBIs, and leadoff hitter CJ Ballard (2015, Pike County HS, GA) went 1-2 with a single, one run and one RBIs.

Adam Goodman (2015, Starrs Mill HS, GA) a Georgia commit, pitched a complete game, giving up just three hits and struck out six, in five innings of work.  He showed good command on both sides of the plate, and had a fastball that peaked at 83 mph.

For Team Alabama, Tyler Tolbert (2016, Hewitt-Trussville HS, AL), Brenton Sanders (2016, Northridge HS, AL), and Tyler White (2015, Pelham HS, AL) each went 1-2 in the game with a single a piece.


HP Maldonado Advances with Shutout WIn

HP Maldonado blanked the Ultimate Baseball 18U and rolled into the semifinals with a 6-0 win. The Maldonado offense knocked in eight hits from six different players with Cole Jackson (2016, Sandy Creek HS, GA) leading the way. Jackson went 2-3 at the plate with a game-high three RBIs, a run scored and a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth. Ultimate Baseball didn't get much going offensively, logging four hits but put on a defensive show with five double plays. 

Jeremiah Woods (2015, Whitewater HS, GA) picked up the win for HP Maldonado after tossing six innings to start out the game. Woods tossed 86 pitches and allowed three hits and no runs while walking one and striking out eight with a fastball averaging 84 mph and topping out at 88 mph. 

With the win, HP Maldonado (6-0-0) advances to the semifinals and will pit their undefeated record against fellow undefeated Team Alabama (6-0-0)

Blue Rays Fend Off DeLaPaz 4-3

The GBSA Blue Rays jumped out to an early lead, scoring two runs in the top of the first as they fought off the Velocity Lab-DeLaPaz 4-3 to advance to the semi-finals. The Blue Ray offense knocked in eight hits from six different players and devastated on the base paths with nine stolen bases as Jared McKay (2014, Chamblee Charter HS, GA) led the way offensively. McKay finished 2-3 at the plate with an RBI and a stolen base. 

McKay, a Top 275 player nationally, also made his presence felt on the defensive side of the ball, picking up the win for the Blue Rays after tossing 85 pitches in five innings of work on the mound, allowing four hits and two runs, neither earned, while walking one, striking out nine, and logging a strike on 73 percent of his pitches. The Spartanburg Methodist College commit showed control all around and on both sides of the plate and a sharp, downhill arm action, setting up and attacking hitters with a three-pitch rotation featuring a late-breaking slider to both sides of the plate as an out-pitch and an aggressive fastball averaging 82 mph and topping out at 87 mph. 

Aaron Hernandez (2015, Moody HS, TX) is credited with the loss for the Velocity after tossing 124 pitches in seven innings on the mound, allowing eight hits and four runs, two earned, while walking one and striking out 12. Hernandez showed the potential to be a dominating pitches with good command all around the plate, effectively pitching inside and a balanced delivery with sound mechanics, pitching his way out of trouble with a four-pitch rotation featuring a late-breakign 11/5 or 1/7 curveball that flashes potential, a tight rotation slider, a deceptive change-up and a fastball averaging 87 mph and topping out at 90 mph. 

Team Alabama Rally For 6-5 Win

Team Alabama responded with a three-run push from the East Cobb Marlins in the top of the eighth with a four-run rally of their own in the bottom of the eighth, rallying into the semifinals with a 6-5 extra-innings victory. The Team Alabama offense knocked in six hits from five different players with John Marc Mullins (2017, Homewood HS, AL) leading the way offensively. Mullins finished perfect at the plate, going 2-2 with two walks, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base as Tyler Tolbert (2016, Hewitt-Trussville HS, AL) knocked in the winning run with a single in the bottom of the eighth. Wesley Burgess (2014, Redan HS, GA) sparked the Marlin's offense with a 2-4 game at the plate, picking up two RBIs and a stolen base. 

Lance Johnson (2016, Thompson HS, AL) did most of the work on the mound for Team Alabama, tossing 72 pitches in five and a third innings on the mound and allowing four hits and two runs, both earned, while walking two and striking out three. Alex Weeks (2015, Pelham HS, AL) picked up the win for closing out the eighth inning on the mound, allowing no hits, runs or walks while striking out none. 

With the win, Team Alabama (6-0-0) advances to the semi-finals to pit their undefeated record against fellow undefeated, HP Maldonado (7-0-0).

Astros Take 4-2 Win With Late Push

The East Cobb Astros 18U put together a furious three-run push in the bottom of the sixth to squeeze past the Georgia BlackCrackers and finish undefeated in pool play with a 4-2 win. The Astro offense knocked in only three hits as Keith Johnson (2019, Buford HS, GA) provided the necessary late-game heroics to pull the Astros to victory. Johnson finished 2-3 at the plate with a three-run homer in the sixth to finish with a game-high three RBIs, and a run scored. The BlackCrackers doubled up the Astro hit count, finishing with seven hits from six different players as Jalin Thomas (2016, Shaw HS, GA) logged the multi-hit stat line, going a perfect 2-2 at the plate with a run scored.

Brooks Buckler (2015, Norcross HS, GA) took home the win for the Astros after closing out the final two innings of the game on the mound. Buckler tossed 29 pitches and allowed two hits and no runs or walks while striking out two in relief of starting pitcher Landon Faulkner (2014, Mt. Paran Christian HS, GA). Faulkner tossed 61 pitches in five innings of work on the mound, allowing five hits and two runs, both earned, while walking none, striking out six and logging a strike on 77 percent of his pitches.

Trey Seldon (2014, Hardaway HS, GA) is credited with the loss for the BlackCrackers after completing the game on the mound. Seldon tossed 79 pitches in six innings of work, allowing three hits and four runs, three earned, while walking five and striking out three with a fastball averaging 79 mph and topping out at 84 mph.

The East Cobb Marlins wins 6-3 over the Upstate Mavericks Scout Team. Wesley Burgess (Redan, Hiram, GA 2014) and Dondrei Hubbard (Creekview, Canton, GA 2014) were the hot hitters for the East Cobb Marlins. Burge went 1-4 for the game with scoring two runs. Hubbard went 3-3 for the game and had three RBIs. Tripper Ergle (Blythewood, Blythewood, SC 2015) and Isaac Deveaux (Edouard Montpetit, Montreal, QC) was the hot hitters for Upstate Mavericks Scout Team. Ergle went 1-2 for the game with scoring one run and had one RBI. Deveaux went 1-2 for the game and had one RBI.

Millwood was the ace pitcher for East Cobb Marlins. He tossed five innings worth while giving up five hits, three runs, walking three and striking out three with a total of eighty one pitches thrown in the game. Godfrey was the other ace pitcher on the mound for Upstate Mavericks Scout Team. He threw 3.2 innings with giving up six hits, five runs, walking three and striking out four for the game. Millwood fastball range for the game was 79-82 mph. Godfrey fastball range for the game was 83-87 mph.

GBSA Blue Rays top Upstate Mavericks Black with only two hits.  Marcus Young (2015, Stephenson, GA) started and lasted 4 1/3 innings. He struck out five while allowing four hits and four walks.  Jalen Jackson (2014, Heritage, GA) and Kameron Armstrong (2015, Stephenson, GA) both had singles in the win.

Lee threw for the Mavericks.  He fanned seven while allowing two hits in the seven innings of work.

VelocityLab-DeLaPaz takes down the Atlanta Dodgers in a close battle. A. D. Pena (Banquete, Corpus Christi, TX 2016) was the hot hitter for VelocityLab-DeLabPaz. Pena had four RBIs with three hits with a single and double. Anthony Gomez (Banquete, Robstown, TX 2016) was the other hot hitter for VelocityLab-DeLabPaz. He went 2-4 for the game with scoring one run and had one RBI. Tyrik Jones (The Galloway, Lithonia, GA 2016) was the other hot hitter for Atlanta Dodgers. He went 3-4 for the game with scoring one run, and had one RBI.

Nathan Randall Freitag (Tuloso-Midway, Corpus Christi, TX 2015) was the ace pitcher for the VelocityLab-DeLaPaz. He tossed four innings worth while giving up six hits, four runs, walking two and striking out two for the game. He also threw a total of fifty one pitchers. Chiavellia was the other ace pitcher for Atlanta Dodgers. He tossed three innings worth while giving up six hits, seven runs, walking four and striking out two with eighty pitches total thrown. East Cobb Astros 18 scored five in the third and piled more in the later innings to beat Bulldogs Baseball 9-2. Trevor Devine (2014, North Cobb, GA) doubled in two runs.  Isaac Phillips (2015, Mt Paran, GA) pitched in with a single and two RBI's.  Kel Johnson had a double in the win. Jared Datoc (2014, Pace Academy, GA) threw four innings and struck out seven. He did not allow a hit or walk. His fastball was in the high 80's and touched 91 mph.

With only seven hits, Ultimate Baseball 18U drove in 12 runs in their win over Georgia BlackCrackers Red.  Chase Diaz (2015, Manatee, FL) led the attack with two singles and two RBI's.  Joseph Morales (2014, Mariner, FL) went 2 for 2 with a double and two RBI's.  Justin Greenway (2014, Lakewood Ranch, FL) drove in two runs with a single.

Devin Perez (2017, Shaw, GA) drove in two runs with a single for Georgia.

Cougars Top ECB in Final Inning

ECB Renegades rallied for 4 runs in the top of the 7th inning to take the lead, however 643 Cougars Sterling responded with 4 runs of their own in the bottom half of the inning to go on to a 5-4 victory. Colin Dore drove in the game-winning run with a single as he ended he game 1-3 with 2 RBI.

Pitching was solid on both sides until the final inning when all but one of the runs were scored. Luke Miltner (2016, Whitefield Academy HS, GA) was efficient on the mound for the Cougars in his 4 innings of work only giving up 2 hits on no runs or no walks while throwing over 80% strikes.

On the other side, Taylor Buice (2016, Lassiter HS, GA) logged 6.1 innings while giving up just 2 hits and striking out 3 on 3 earned runs. Buice also had a single and an RBI on the lead off spot.

Adam Goodman (2015, Starrs Mill, GA) drove in two runs with a single.  Chase Allen (2015, Northgate, GA) pitched in with two hits including a double and two RBI's.  CJ Ballard (2015, Pike County, GA) went 2 for 3 with a double in the win.  Ethan Gillis (2015, Whitewater, GA) started and pitched five innings.  He fanned five while allowing three hits. His fastball was between 80-83 mph and reached 85.

Michael Cullen (2017, A Crawford Mosley, FL) and Will Simmons (2015, West Hall, FL) both had singles and doubled in the loss.

Neither team could get on the score board as Georgia BlackCrackers and Top Notch 17U tie 0-0.  Marcell Byrd (2015, Hardaway, GA) threw seven strong innings for Georgia.  He struck out five while allowing four hits and two walks.  Tre'Von Dorsey (2015, Hardaway, GA) went 2 for 3 in the tie.

Bryson Cornette (2015, Franklin County, GA) started for Top Notch.  In seven innings, he struck out five while allowing just three hits. His fastball reached 84 mph.

In a pitching duel, Georgia Jackets 17U edged Knoxville Hurricans 2-1.  Alexander Smith (2015, Centennial, GA) started and pitched four innings. He fanned one while allowing two hits.  Dalton Delay (2015, Woodstock, GA) came in and finished the game. In three innings, he fanned five and did not allow a hit. His mid 80's fastball touched 86 mph.

Brent Richey (2016, Knoxville Christian, TN) pitched for the Hurricanes. He fanned four while allowing a hit in six innings.

Team DeMarini GA 17U wins close battle.

Gavin Crimmins (South Forsyth, Cumming, GA 2015) gives Team DeMarini GA 17U late push to beat Denny Pritchett Jayhawks 17/18U, 4-3. Crimmins brought home the the go ahead run to help his team take the lead in the sixth inning. Max Joseph (West Forsyth, Cumming, GA 2016) singled to get on base in the sixth. He then went from first to second on a stolen base. Jacob Tate (West Forsyth, Cumming, GA 2017) went a perfect 1-1 at the dish for Denny Pritchett Jayhawks 17/18U. He doubled in the fourth inning.

Coleman Williams (Marrist, Sandy Springs, GA 2016) recorded the win for Team DeMarini GA 17U. He allowed three runs over 5 1/3 innings with striking out seven, walked four and gave up three hits. John Cassandra (West Forsyth, Cumming, GA 2014, Georgia College & State) ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision with getting the loss. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out three, and allowed three runs. Cassandra fastball range for the game was 82-86. Williams fastball range for the game was 86-90 mph.

Strong pitching leads Team Alabama past Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars 6-0. Payton Young (Piedmont, Centre, AL 2016) was the hot hitter for Team Alabama. He reached base three times in the game with a single in the first inning and double in the sixth inning. John Marc Mullins (Homewood, Brimingham, AL 2017) was the other hot hitter for Team Alabama. He went 2-3 for the game with scoring one run and one RBI.

Ben Brakefield (Hayden, Warrior, AL 2017) kept Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars off the board during his seven innings of work. He struck out one and allowed one walk and five hits. Sampsom Funamker (Riverside, Baraboo, WI 2014) lasted 1 2/3 innings on the mound for Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars before being removed. He allowed three hits and four runs. The pitching was really strong for Team Alabama as it showed on the scoreboard.

The East Cobb Marlins take out Georgia Jackets 17U help from Wesley Burgess (Redan, Hiram, GA 2014) , 3-2. He went 2-3 for the game with a double in the third inning and single in the sixth inning. Spencer Pfost (Sequoyah, Woodstock, GA 2015) was the other hot hitter for Georgia Jackets 17U. He went 1-2 for the game.

Russ McGlamry (Sequoyah, Canton, GA 2014, Georgia Highlands) put together a nice outing. Georgia Jackets 17U managed just one hit off of McGlamry. He allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out five during his five innings of work. Despite lossing the game, Georgia Jackets 17U's Johnathan Meuse dominated the East Cobb Marlins' batters, giving up three runs and striking out five. Meuse fastball range for the game was 81-86 mph. McGlamry fastball range for the game was 83-86 mph.

Sixth-inning rally sparks blowout win for Team Alabama, 10-3. Tyler Tolbert (Hewitt-Trussville, Trussville, AL 2016) was the hot hitter for the game with racking up four RBIs on three hits for Team Alabama. Cremonese was the other hot hitter for Upstate Mavericks with racking up two RBIs on one hit with a homer in the second inning. Team Alabama as a offense had ten runs with ten hits.

Stephan Poplin (Thompson, Alabaster, AL 2015) pitched lights out for Team Alabama. Upstate Mavericks Black managed just one hit off of the Team Alabama's pitcher. He allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his three innings of work. Daniel Johnson (Mauldin, Simpsonville SC 2014, Charleston Southern) was charged with the loss. He lasted just 4 2/3 innings, walked three, struck out and allowed four runs. Johnson fastball range for the game was 79-83 mph.

Leadoff hitter CJ Ballard (2015, Pike County HS, GA) went 2-3 with two singles and two runs scored.  Adam Goodman (2015, Starrs Mill HS, GA) a Georgia commit, went 1-3 with a single, one run and two RBIs on the day.  Helton contributed with a double, and Josh Peters (2015, Union Grove HS, GA) had a triple in the game.

On the mound, Tyler Sellers (2015, Locust Grove HS, GA) pitched two innings of work, showing good command with a fastball that topped out at 85 mph.  Jordan Schmits (2015, Northgate HS, GA) also made an appearance, going two innings as well, and he too had a good fastball that topped out at 87 mph.

Clay Causey (2014, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) went 3-3 at the plate for the Dolphins, with three singles, and one RBI.  Ryan Yeager (2017, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) also went a perfect 2-2 with two singles and one RBI as well.  Jimmy Nolan (2015, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) went 2-3 with a double and a single, and Peyton Millirons (2017, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) contributed with a double and finished 1-3 at the plate in the game.

Millirons also pitched six complete innings of work, giving up one earned run on four hits and struck out nine.  He had a fastball that averaged 82-84 mph and topped out at 86 mph, while also mixing in a handful of off-speed pitches.

For the Sterling, Parker McCoy (2016, Walton HS, GA) went 1-1 with a single and one run scored, and Pete Derkay (2016, Allatoona HS, GA) and Tyler Reid (2015, North Springs HS, GA) each finished 1-2 with a single a piece in the game.

Colby Mathews (2015, Cambridge HS, GA) went 2-3 for the Renegades, with two singles and one RBI in the game.  Stephen Wechsler (2014, Riverside Military Academy, GA) went a perfect 2-2 at the plate, with two singles, one run and one RBI.  Marq Kilcoyne (2015, Flowery Branch HS, GA) went 1-3 with a triple, one run and two RBIs.

For the BlackCrackers, Blake Rupp (2015, Hardaway HS, GA) went 1-3 with a single, one run, and two RBIs.  Tre'Von Dorsey (2015, Hardaway HS, GA) went 1-3 as well, with a single and two runs scored.  Josh Anthony (2014, Hardaway HS, GA) went 1-3 also, with a single, one run and one RBI on the day.

Bryan Pate (2014, Hardaway HS, GA) had a solid outing for Georgia BlackCrackers in his complete-game 7 innings of work. Pate struck out 3 and gave up just 2 earned runs while displaying a fastball from 76-81 and touched 84 mixed with a curveball.

Taylor Buice (2016, Lassiter HS, GA) had another good outing for the ECB Renegades shutting down the opposing offense in his 3 innings of work. He gave up just 1 hit, struck out 3 on no runs allowed.

James Shepherd (2015, Hammond HS, SC) led the way, going 2-4 with a double, single, two runs and four RBIs in the game.  Trey Watts (2015, Lexington HS, SC) also went 2-4 at the plate, with a double, single, and two runs scored.  Jaylin Jennings (2015, Gilbert HS, SC) contributed by going 2-3 with a double, single, two runs and two RBIs.

On the mound, Mike Perez (2015, Norcross HS, GA) pitched three complete innings of work, giving up just one hit and struck out three, while displaying good command of a fastball that topped out at 82 mph.

For the Dodgers, Tyler Sylvester (2016, Southwest DeKalb HS, GA) went 2-3 with two singles, one run and one RBI.  J. Mendoza contributed with a double, and Tyler Adams (2016, Apalachee HS, GA) had a triple in the game.

Hot bat leads the East Cobb Astros 18 past Georgia BlackCrackers Red 13-0. Chase Smartt (Charles Henderson, Troy, AL 2015, Troy) hit two home runs for the East Cobb Astros 18. He went 2-4 in the game with three RBIs and two runs scored with a homer in the first and second innings. Griffin Helms (Norcross, Norcross, GA 2014, Kennesaw State) and Logan Barnette (Walton, Marietta, GA 2014, Georgia State) also hit a home run for the East Cobb Astros 18.

Connor Bennett (Buford, Buford, GA 2015, West Virginia) shut down Georgia BlackCrackers Red while he was on the mound. He gave up just one hit, allowed earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his two innings of work. Jordan Manibusan (Hardaway, Columbus, GA 2017) lasted two innings on the hill for Georgia BlackCrackers Red before the call to the bullpen. He surrendered seven hits and eight runs. He scored two runs and had one RBI with a single in the sixth inning. Ross Funke (johns Creek, Alpharetta, 2015) was the other hot hitter for Team DeMarini GA 17U. He went 2-4 for the game with scoring one run and had one RBI.

McKenzie shut down Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars while he was on the bump. Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars manged just one hit off of the Team DeMarini GA 17U's pitcher. He allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out ten during his six innings of work. Aaron Slaughter (Corliss, Chicago, IL 2014) was the game's losing pitcher. GBSA Blue Rays scored five runs in the bottom of the third inning, and allowed just five hits in a 7-0 victory over Denny Pritchett Jayhawks 17/18u on Monday.

Deion Sellers (2014, Cedar Grove HS, GA) led the offense of the Blue Rays with a double, two runs batted in, and a run scored. Armond Upshaw (2014, Northgate HS, GA) added three hits, including a triple, with a run scored. Also recording two hits were Daren Osby (2014, Redan HS, GA) and Ronald McGhee (2015, Columbia HS, GA). Osby also drove in a run in the victory.

Malik Jones (2014, Chamblee Charter HS, GA) was the winning pitcher for the Blue Rays, as he tossed 5.1 innings and allowed five hits with ten strikeouts. His fastball topped out at 86 mph.

The five Jayhawks hits were provided by Andrew College signee Brett Anderson (2014, West Forsyth HS, GA), Jacob Tate (2017, West Forsyth HS, GA), Max Joseph (2016, West Forsyth HS, GA), Miles Griffin (2017, Lambert HS, GA), and Gavin Crimmins (2015, South Forsyth HS, GA) .

VelocityLab-DeLaPaz Pulls Away for 9-3 Win

VelocityLab-DeLaPaz scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to pull away and claim a 9-3 victory over Knoxvillle Hurricanes on Monday.

A.D. Pena (2016, Banquete HS, TX) and Hunter Christopher (2016, Flour Bluff HS, TX) led the run production for VelocityLab, as each player drove in two runs and recorded one hit. Anthony Vincent Handel (2016, King HS, TX) and Joshua Baltierra (2016, Calallen HS, TX) led the team with two hits each, while Anthony Gomez (2016, Banquete HS, TX) and Christian Angel De La Paz (2016, Moody HS, TX) each scored two runs in the win.

Baltierra earned the win for VelocityLab, tossing five innings and allowing one run on two hits. He struck out three hitters, and his fastball topped out at 83 mph.

Kyler Jones (2014, Oak Ridge HS, TN) and Theran McKenry (2015, Bearden HS, TN) each drove in one run for the Hurricanes, while Anthony Crowder (2016, Knoxville Christian School, TN), Jones, and Brent Richey (2016, Knoxville Christian School, TN) scored the runs. Jones led the team with two hits, including a triple, in the loss.

Bulldogs Baseball Rallies in Sixth for 7-3 Win

Bulldogs Baseball rallied from a 3-0 deficit with seven runs in the bottom of the sixth, and claimed a 7-3 victory over Homeplate 17U Shelton on Monday.

Jackson Tavel (2016, Corner HS, AL) drove in three runs with a triple to lead the run production for the Bulldogs. Cooper Heaton (2015, Tuscaloosa County HS, AL) and Colin Lillie (2015, Thompson HS, AL) each added one run batted in, while Lillie and Gage Farley (2015, Pinson Valley HS, AL) led the team with two hits apiece. Lillie and John Michael Mathews (2015, Gardendale HS, AL) each doubled in the victory.

Tavel also earned the victory for the Bulldogs, as he allowed just one hit over two innings with three strikeouts. His fastball topped out at 81 mph.

Conner Corbitt (2015, Stratford Academy, GA) drilled a home run, driving in two runs with two hits to lead Homeplate. David "Connor" Wilson (2015, Northgate HS, GA) added a run batted in with two singles and a run scored, and the other Homeplate run was scored by Will Meyer (2015, Newnan HS, GA) in the losing effort.

Team Alabama defeated the GBSA Blue Rays 6-3 in seven innings.

Logan Brashier (2015, Helena, AL) and Alex Weeks (2015, Helena, AL) led the surge for Team Alabama with a RBI single and scoring at least once. Sam Praytor (2017, Helena, AL) and John Marc Mullins (2017, Birmingham, AL) knocked a RBI single each. Ethan Thomas (2016, Madison, AL) contributed a single and a run, and Keegan Morrow (2016, Trussville, AL) and Roberts added a single.

Austin Kitterman (2016, Russellville, AL) led the pitching duties with the complete game. He only needed 68 pitches while scattering seven hits and scoring three runs. He did not walk a batter and struck out five on his 87 mph with his fastball.

Tekwaan Whyte (2015, Stone Mountain, GA) led the Blue Rays with a single and a triple while scoring twice. Dexter "DJ" Neal (2015, Lithonia, GA) connected with a single and a double. Harrison contributed a single with a run. 

Arnold Upshaw (2015, Newnan, GA) tossed the longest with four innings. He scattered five hits with two earned runs. He walked two and struck out five while running the gun up to 89 mph. McKay went the last inning without a hit, walk, or a run to score. He was able to strike out two of the three batters faced. He maxed out the radar at 84 mph. 

Baker Walks It off for Homeplate

The Homeplate 17U Shelton defeated the Georgia BlackCrackers Red 2-1 in seven innings.

The talk of the game was the walk off hit for Bryce Baker (2015, Fayetteville, GA) in the seventh inning. He connected with two singles with a RBI. Will Meyer (2015, Newnan, GA) added a single and a triple with a run. Jonathan Hamilton (2015, Newnan, GA) contributed a RBI single, and Blake Helton (2015, Newnan, GA) and Burdette added with a single each.

William Manning (2015, Fayetteville, GA) tossed all seven innings with 84 pitches. He scattered four hits with one run to score. He walked one and struck out seven on his 78 mph fastball.

Mykel Page (2017, Columbus, GA) led the BlackCrackers with a RBI single, and three of his teammates added three singles.

Wag went the complete game for his team with 5.2 innings. He scattered eight hits with two earned runs. He walked four and struck out four while touching 76 mph. 

11 Hits Lead Marlins to 5-4 Victory

The East Cobb Marlins defeated the Knoxville Hurricanes 5-4 in six innings.

Bryan Quillens and Damon Haskett (2014, Fayetteville, GA) led the Marlins with a pair of singles with a run. Dondrei Hubbard (2014, Canton, GA) roped a single and a double with a run. Tyrus Asberry (2014, Atlanta, GA) connected with a two RBI double with a run. Tyler Trahan (2013, Canton, GA) added a RBI single to help his team. 

Quillens took over most of the duties with four innings. He scattered four hits with three earned runs. He walked three and struck out three on his 89 mph fastball. He has a good extension out front while showing control of both sides of the plate. He has projectable stuff with a good curve with an average slider. 

Brent Richey (2916, Knoxville, TN) led the Hurricanes with a two RBI double. Anthony Crowder (2016, Knoxville, TN) connected with a RBI double to help as well. Logan Adams (2017, Knoxville, TN) contributed a pair of singles, and Austin Cullen (2016, Lenoir City, TN) added a RBI single. 

Crowder tossed the six innings for his team with 100 pitches. He let 11 hits fall with four earned runs to score. He walked one and struck out four on his 77 mph fastball. 

ECB Renegades and Dolphins Baseball tie

The ECB Renegades and the Dolphins Baseball ended in a 3-3 tie.

Austin New (2015, Heritage HS, GA) led the way for ECB, going a perfect 2-2 at the plate, with two singles and a run scored.  Heseley went 1-1 with a double and two RBIs.  Paul Anderson (2014, Glynn Academy, GA) contributed with a single and one run scored. For the Dolphins, Michael Cullen (2017, A. Crawford Mosley, FL) went 2-3 with two singles, and one run scored.  Jordan Murray (2016, A. Crawford Mosley, FL) went a perfect 2-2 with two singles as well, and one run scored.

There was good pitching on both sides as the offenses were limited all afternoon. Ben Peters (2015, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) was solid on the bump in his 6 innings of work for the Dolphins. Peters struck out 4 on just 5 hits and 2 earned runs while throwing a lot of strikes. On the other side, ECB shut down the opposing offense until the final inning. Taylor Buice (2016, Lassiter HS, GA) was efficient on the mound lasting 3 innings while giving up just 1 hit on 4 strikes, no walks, and no runs allowed. Joseph Cuomo (2017, Excel Christian Academy, GA) was also solid in his 3 innings of work giving up only 3 hits, 2 earned runs and no walks while touching 81. 


VelocityLab survives against Mavericks

VelocityLab-DeLaPaz survived against the Upstate Mavericks Scout Team, winning 2-1.

Leadoff hitter Joshua Baltierra (2016, Calallen HS, TX) went 2-3 with two singles and one RBI in the game.  Anthony Gomez (2016, Banquete HS, TX) went 1-3 with a double.  Andrew Gonzalez (2016, Calallen HS, TX) went a perfect 2-2 at the plate, with two singles, and one run scored.

On the mound, Gomez pitched 4.1 innings of work, giving up one earned run on four hits and struck out four, showing good command of a fastball that topped out at 87 mph.  John Michael Rodriguez (2016, Carroll HS, TX) also made an appearance on the mound, going 2.2 innings, and he too showed good command, with throwing strikes, and displayed a fastball that peaked at 90 mph.

For the Mavericks, Tripper Ergle (2015, Blythewood HS, SC) went 1-2 with a triple and one run scored, and Frayle went 1-2 with a double in the game.


HP Maldonado Offense too much in Win

The HP Maldonado offense was too much, as they cruised to the easy shutout victory, defeating the Georgia BlackCrackers, 9-0.

Jake McFarland (2015, Ola HS, GA) led the way, going a perfect 3-3 at the plate, with two homeruns, a double, two runs scored and six RBIs in the game.  Cornelius Randolph (2015, Griffin HS, GA) a Clemson commit, went a perfect 2-2, with a homerun, single, two runs scored and one RBI.  Chase Allen (2015, Northgate HS, GA) also had a homerun, and finished 2-3 with a single, one run and two RBIs as well.  Isaiah Gilliam (2015, Parkview HS, GA) contributed with a double to the offense.

On the mound, N. Neidert pitched four complete innings, giving up just one hit while striking out four, and displaying a fastball that topped out at 94 mph, and mixed in a good 83 mph changeup to compliment as his off-speed pitch.

For the BlackCrackers, Jack Doss Arnold (2014, Opelika HS, AL) went 1-2 with a single in the game.


Pitching Carries Astros to easy Victory

The East Cobb Astros 18 cruised to the easy victory, defeating Ultimate Baseball 18U 8-0, thanks to strong pitching.

Harrison Veldsma (2014, Walton HS, GA) and Collin Stoecker (2015, Siegel HS, TN) a Notre Dame commit, combined to pitch a no-hitter.  Veldsma pitched three innings, striking out two, and flashing a fastball that topped out at 85 mph, and Stoecker also struck out two with a fastball that peaked at 83 mph.

At the plate, Chase Smartt (2015, Charles Henderson HS, AL) a Troy commit, went 2-3 with a triple, single, and one run scored.  Trevor Devine (2014, North Cobb HS, GA) also went 2-3 with a double, single, and two runs scored.  Keith Johnson (2019, Buford HS, GA) went a perfect 3-3 with a double, two singles, one run, and two RBIs.

Denny Pritchard Jayhawks 17/18U edged by the Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars, 2-1.

Ryan Cox (2017, Forsyth Central HS, GA) led the way, going 1-3 with a single, and one run scored in the game.  Ryan Worley (2014, River Ridge HS, GA) also went 1-3 with a single.  Clark Munroe (2014, Cumming HS, GA) pitched six complete innings of work, giving up just three hits and struck out five.  He had a fastball that averaged 80-82 mph and topped out at 85 mph, while mixing in a handful sliders and a few curveballs and changeups for his off-speed pitches.

For the All-Stars, Raymond Sankitts (2014, St. Croix Central HS, VI) went 1-3 with a single and one RBI in the game.  On the mound, Shamari Warner (2014, Corliss HS, IL) pitched a complete game, giving up one earned run on two hits and struck out three, while having a fastball that peaked at 79 mph.

Thanks to some middle and late run support, Team DeMarini GA 17U defeated the Upstate Mavericks Black, 6-2.

William Mapes (2016, Mount Pisgah Christian, GA) led the way going a perfect 3-3 at the plate, with two singles, a double, two runs, and one RBI in the game.  Chris Siebert (2015, Blessed Trinity Catholic, GA) went 1-1, with a double, as well and three runs scored.  Levi Whitmire (2015, Dawson County HS, GA) contributed by going 1-3 with a single, and two RBIs.

Chase Cohen (2015, Alpharetta HS, GA) pitched five complete innings of work, giving up one earned run on four hits, and struck out four, while utilizing a fastball that topped out at 90 mph, and mixed in a handful of curveballs, and a few sliders and changeups for his off-speed pitches.

For the Mavericks, Dominique Jackson (2014, South Gwinnett HS, GA) went 2-3 with two singles and one run scored, while Mason McClellan (2014, Union Grove HS, GA) and T.J. Waterbore (2014, Cherokee HS, GA) had a double a piece.


Atlanta Dodgers and Georgia Jackets 17U Tie

Atlanta Dodgers and Georgia Jackets 17U combined for just seven hits, and their game finished in a 1-1 tie on Sunday.

The sole Dodgers run was driven in by Erickie Godfrey (2016, KIPP Atlanta Collegiate HS, GA), and was scored by Travon Hardnett (2016, Cedar Grove HS, GA). Tyler Sylvester (2016, Southwest Dekalb HS, GA), Davian Manley (2015, Southwest Dekalb HS, GA), and Corey Forde (2016, Stephenson HS, GA) supplied the hits for the Dodgers.

Sylvester tossed a complete game for the Dodgers, allowing one run on four hits with five strikeouts over seven innings. His fastball topped out at 83 mph.

The Jackets’ run was driven in by Dalton Delay (2015, Woodstock HS, GA), and was scored by Brantley Flanagan (2014, Sequoyah HS, GA). Flanagan, Delay, Steven Etcher (2015, Dunwoody HS, GA), and Grant Pfost (2015, Sequoyah HS, GA) accounted for the four Jackets hits.

Pfost worked five innings for the Jackets, allowing an earned run on one hit. He struck out four hitters, and his fastball peaked at 84 mph.

Big First Inning Powers Top Notch 17U

Top Notch 17U scored six runs in the top of the first inning, and held on for an 8-5 victory over 643 Cougars Sterling on Sunday.

Wesley Waters (2014, Franklin County HS, GA) and Dylan Spence (2015, Belton Honea Path HS, GA) each drove in one run for Top Notch, with Waters recording a pair of singles. Payton Dalton (2015, Habersham Central HS, GA) and Aubrey Davis (2017, Franklin County HS, GA) led the team with two runs scored, while The Citadel commit William Kinney (2014, Wilson Hall HS, SC) added a hit and one run scored in the win.

Kinney tossed a complete game for Top Notch, striking out four hitters over his seven innings. His fastball topped out at 85 mph.

Zachary Cable (2016, River Ridge HS, GA) led the offense for the Cougars, as he doubled and drove in three runs. Pete Derkay (2016, Allatoona HS, GA) added a double and two runs scored, and Joe Taylor (2016, Marist HS, GA) doubled as well in the loss.

Astros Blank Homeplate Shelton 8-0

The East Cobb Astros 18U pitched a shutout and scored a run in every inning except for a four-run fifth inning to blank the Homeplate 17U Shelton and take the win 8-0. The Astros offense knocked in ten hits from eight different players with Griffin Helms (2014, Norcross HS, GA) and Chase Smartt (2015, Charles Henderson HS, AL) leading the way. Helms, the Number One GA Catcher and Top 250 Overall Player, finished 2-3 with two run scored as Smartt, the Number Six GA Overall Player and Troy commit, added in a perfect 2-2 game at the plate with an RBI, a run scored, a walk and a double. 

Ryan Young took home the win for the Astros after spending all five innings on the mound. Young tossed 54 pitches and allowed two hits and no runs or walks while striking out eight and logging a strike on 78 percent of his pitches using a four-pitch rotation featuring a curveball and a fastball averaging 83 mph and topping out at 87 mph. 

Blue Rays Roll Past All-Stars 10-1

The GBSA Blue Rays scored early and often, putting up at least two runs in four different innings as they cruised past the Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars 10-1 in six innings, holding the All-Stars to three hits while forcing three fielding errors. The Blue Ray offense logged ten hits from nine different players as Tekwaan Whyte (2015, Stephenson HS, GA) led the way offensively. Whyte finished with the only multi-hit stat line of the game, going 2-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored while reaching base on error and turning a double play on defense. 

Jelani Clarington (2015, Rockdale County HS, GA) picked up the win for the Blue Ray bullpen for his three innings on the mound to start out the game. Clarington tossed 49 pitches and allowed one hit and one earned run while walking one and striking out four with a fastball averaging 78 mph and topping out at 80 mph. 

Neil Blum (2014, George Washington Carver HS, IL) took the loss for the All-Stars for his full game on the mound, tossing 108 pitches in five innings and allowing ten hits and ten runs, four earned, while walking three and striking out two. 

Jayhawks Survive Mavericks, Win 3-2

The Denny Pritchett Jayhawks 17/18U survived a furious two-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning from the Upstate Mavericks Black to take the win 3-2. The Mavericks were able to load up the bases with no outs, but were forced into the loss after a tag at home after a late fly ball. The Jayhawks offense knocked in six hits from five different players with half going for extra bases. Brett Anderson (2014, West Forsyth HS, GA) led the way for the Jayhawk offense with a 2-3 game at the plate with an RBI, a run scored and a double. 

Daniel McCray (2014, New Lumpkin County HS, GA) took home the win for the Jayhawks after spending the first six innings on the mound, tossing 87 pitches and allowing one hit and no runs while walking six and striking out two. McCray, a High Follow, showed control all around the plate with all his pitches and a quick, well-working arm, setting up hitters with a three-pitch rotation featuring a late-breaking slider that flashes potential and a fastball averaging 79 mph and topping out at 85 mph.

Anthony Davis (Franklin County, Royston, GA 2017) led Top Notch 17U's offensive threat, as he got on base two times in the game with a single in the sixth inning.

Taylor Buice (Lassiter, Marietta, GA 2016) was in control on the mound. Top Notch 17U managed just two hits off of the ECB Renegades' pitcher. He allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his three innings of work. Joseph Cuomo (2017, Excel Christian Academy, GA) pitched a perfect inning of relief for the Renegades while holding an impressive strike rate over 70%.

Collin Maynard (T L Hanna, Anderson, SC 2015) was the ace pitcher for the Top Notch 17U. He tossed 3.2 innings worth while giving up four hits, two runs, and walking two. Maynard fastball range for the game was 81-85 mph.

Georgia BlackCrackers fend off Dolphins Baseball's late push, hold on 5-3. Dolphins Baseball scored three runs in the sixth on an error and two singles. Dominique Wade (Shaw, Columbus, GA 2015) had a hot bat for Georgia BlackCrackers. He went 1-1 and scored one run with a single in the fifth inning.

Eric Manibusen (Hardaway, Columbus, GA 2015) was a workhorse on the rubber while getting the victory. The HP Maldonado defeated the ECB Renegades 13-1 in seven innings. 

Chase Allen (2015, Sharpsburg, GA) led the HP team with a three RBI double and later scoring a run. The UGA commit, Adam Goodman (2015, Fayetteville, GA), was a strong supporter by going 3-3 with three singles with two RBIs and a walk. Isaiah Gilliam (2015, Lilburn, GA) added a pair of doubles with two RBIs and two runs. Tristin English (2015, Williamson, GA) contributed a 2-4 game with two singles and three RBIs and a run. CJ Ballard (2015, Williamsburg, GA) connected with a single and a triple while leading the team with four runs. Tyler Burdette (2015, Fayetteville, GA) roped a RBI single with two runs. 

The Kennesaw State commit, Ethan Gillis (2015, Senioa, GA), started and went three innings. He let two hits fall with one run that was unearned to score. He walked one and struck out five with his 84 mph fastball. Tyler Sellers (2015, Locust Grove, GA) went the next two innings without a hit or a run to occur. He walked one and struck out one. He maxed out the radar at 87 mph with his fastball. Finally Ben Baggett (2015, Fayetteville, GA) tossed the last two innings without a walk, hit, or a run to occur. He was able to lead the team with six strike outs. He ran the radar all the way up to 91 mph with his fastball. 

Will Hesterlee (2014, Carrollton, GA) roped the only extra base hit for the Renegades with a double. Stephen Wechsler (2014, Roswell, GA) added a single, and Joseph Cuomo (2017, Excel Christian Academy, GA) scored the only run of the game. 

Coty Amant (2015, Smyrna, GA) showed some poise on the mound for his team. He went the longest with 3.2 innings. He let just three hit fall with two runs to score. He walked two and struck out three while running the gun up to 81 mph. 

Ultimate Baseball 18U takes the victory.

The Bulldogs Baseball outdone by Joseph Morales (Mariner, Cape Coral, FL 2014, Nicholls State) and Ultimate Baseball 18U, 5-2. Morales was the hot hitter for the game with going 2-4 with a single in the third and fourth innings. John Michael Mathews (Gardendale, Birmingham, AL 2015) was the other hot hitter for Bulldogs Baseball. He went 1-2 for the game and one RBI. Ultimate Baseball 18U as a offense today had five runs scored with ten hits.

Chris Holland (Charlotte, Punta Gorda, FL 2015) pitched lights out for Ultimate Baseball 18U. The Bulldogs Baseball managed just two hits off of Holland. He allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his four innings of work. Dillon McCaleb (Corner, Warrior, AL 2015) took the loss for the Bulldogs Baseball. He lasted just four innings, walked none, struck out three, and allowed five runs. Holland fastball range for the game was 77-80 mph.

Marlins Pull Out Late Ending Heroics

The East Cobb Marlins defeated the Atlanta Dodgers 5-2 in seven innings.

Damon Haskett (2014, Fayetteville, GA) led the Marlins offense with a two RBI triple in the game. Russ McGlamry (2014, Canton, GA) and Dondrei Hubbard (2014, Canton, GA) each roped a RBI single, and McGlamry touched home once. Carey Cunningham (2014, Jasper, GA) and McClesky joined in with a single and a run.

Wesley Burgess (2014, Hiram, GA) led the pitching duties with four innings. He let three hits fall without a run to score. He walked one and struck out two on his 83 mph fastball. He has a mound presence while using his lower half when pitching. He has a good curve that comes with good command. Matt Proulx (2014, Canton, GA) tossed one innings without a hit or a run to occur. He walked one and struck out two while touching 80 mph. McGlamry also tossed the last inning. He also did not let a hit or a run to occur. He walked one and struck out all three outs in the inning. He maxed out at the radar at 86 mph fastball.

Erickie Godrey (2016, Atlanta, GA) tried to light a spark for the Dodgers with a double. Tyler Sylvester (2016, Lithonia, GA) helped with a double of his own while scoring once. Davian Manley (2015, Decatur, GA) scored the only RBI for his team. 

Jawuan Williams (2016, Decatur, GA) went the longest on the mound for his team. He went 4.1 innings and tossed 77 pitches. He scattered four hits with two runs to score. He walked two batters and struck out four.

Mavs Collect Thirteen Hits in 8-2 Win

The Upstate Mavericks Scout Team defeated the Knoxville Hurricanes 8-2 in seven innings.

Isaac Deveaux (2017, Montreal, QC) led the offensive surge for the Mavericks with a  single and two triples. He drove in two RBIs while scoring once. Trey Watts (2015, Lexington, SC) and Bret Huebner (2015, Andover, MN) knocked a pair of doubles with a RBI and at least one run. Smith roped two singles with a RBI and a run. James Shepherd (2015, Orangeburg, SC) connected with a single and a double with two RBIs. 

The Arizona commit, Max Wotell (2015, Marvin, NC), took absolute control of the game with his pitching performance. He went five innings with 91 pitches. He let just one hit fall without an earned run score. He walked just one and struck out 15 batters. He maxed out the radar at 91 mph with his fastball. He has good command with thawing strikes. He has a quick arm with a sharp arm action. He has a dominating mound presence while attacking hitters constantly. He has a tight rotation on his slider. He is very aggressive with all his pitches and is a projectable pitcher. Ganter came in for the last two innings of work. He did not let a hit, walk, or a run to occur. He was able to strike out two on his 82 mph fastball. 

Anthony Crowder (2016, Knoxville, TN) was the only player to pick up a hit for the Hurricanes. 

Late Runs Help BlackCrackers Win 7-4

The Georgia BlackCrackers defeated the 643 Cougars Sterling 7-4 in seven innings.

Tre'Von Dorsey (2015, Columbus, GA) led the offensive surge by going 3-4 with three singles and two RBIs while scoring twice. Josh Anthony (2014, Columbus, GA) added a pair of singles with two RBIs and a run. Samuel Anthony (2014, Columbus, GA) knocked two singles and scored once. Jalin Thomas (2016, Columbus, GA) roped a double and scored twice, and Trent Abrams (2014, Columbus, GA) added a single with a run. 

Trey Seldon (2014, Columbus, GA) tossed the complete game with 101 pitches. He scattered six hits with only one earned run. He walked three batters and struck out seven on his 83 mph fastball.

For the Cougars, Arman Painter (2016, Smyrna, GA) led the surge with a single and a double with a RBI. Zachary Cable (2016, Roswell, GA) roped a two RBI double to help his team and scoring once. Chase Hawkins (2015, Dunwoody, GA), Nick Suter (2015, Marietta, GA), and Jake Howard (2016, LaGrange, GA) all contributed with a single. 

Bulldogs Plate Seven Runs in Fifth Innings

The Bulldogs Baseball defeated the Georgia BlackCrackers Red 7-3 in seven innings. 

John Michael Mathews (2015, Birmingham, AL) led the surge for the Bulldogs with a pair of singles and a triple while plating three RBIs and scoring just once. Austin Jackson (2015, Carbon Hill, AL) contributed two singles of his own. Colin Lillie (2015, Alabaster, AL) knocked a two RBI double with a run. Dillon McCaleb (2015, Warrior, AL) joined in with a single and a run, and Peyton Moore (2015, Lynn, AL) added a single of his own. Cooper Heaton (2015, Northport, AL) and Mason Gooch (2015, Birmingham, AL) helped with a RBI each.

Gooch also took the mound for the complete game for the Bulldogs. He went all seven innings with just 81 pitches. He scattered five hits with three earned runs to score. He walked a pair and struck out six on his 77 mph fastball.

Eric Newman (2017, Columbus, GA) tried to light a comeback for the BlackCrackers with a two RBI single, and Javier Vizcarrondo (2014, Columbus, GA) and Kaleb Podger (2018, Columbus, GA) knocked a single and a run each. Jordan Manibusan (2017, Columbus, GA) roped a double and later score. Chandler Gribbs (2017, Columbus, GA) added a RBI without collecting a hit.

Pitchers dual ends in 0-0 tie

The GBSA Blue Rays tied with Team DeMarini GA 17U with a final score of 0-0 on Friday. This tie moves both teams records to (0-0-1) for the tournament.

Deion Sellers (2014, Cedar Grove, FL) and Fred Bryant (2015, Heritage, FL) each tallied a hit for GBSA. Sellers had a single with a walk and a stolen base, while Bryant doubled in the top of the 7th. On the mound for GBSA, Corderias Dorsey (2014, Cedar Grove, FL), Daren Osby (2014, Redan, GA), and Malik Jones (2014, Chamblee Charter, GA) combined to allow just 1 hit and one walk. Dorsey struck out 7 while sitting 85-86/87 with his fastball. Osby struck out 4 using a fastball that sat 87-88/90 and a slider that sat 79-80/81. Jones allowed 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 1 in his frame. His fastball sat at 85 and topped out at 87.

Jonathan Tracey (2015, Milton, GA) collected the lone hit of the day for Team DeMarini. He finished 1 for 3 with a double. On the mound for Team DeMarini was Zachary Schulman (2015, Decatur, GA) who tossed all 7 innings. He allowed just 2 hits and 2 walks, while striking out 5.

Georgia Jackets hold off late rally, earn win

The Georgia Jackets 17U team defeated VelocityLab-DeLaPaz by a final score of 7-6 on Friday. This win improves the Jackets record to (1-0) for the tournament thus far.

Randy Shelton (2016, Sequoyah, GA) led on offense for the Jackets. He went 3 for 3 on the day with 2 RBI's and a double. Johnathan Meuse (2015, Woodstock, GA) was also perfect at the plate for Georgia as he went 3 for 3 with 1 RBI and a double as well. Meuse also picked up 3 stolen bases in this one. Earning the win on the mound was Andrew Hester (2015, River Ridge, GA). Hester threw 4 innings and allowed 2 to come across and score. The save was picked up by Will Herman (2015, St. Pius X Catholic, GA) who tossed 2/3 an inning with 1 strikeout.

Andrew Gonzalez (2016, Calallen, TX) led the charge on offense for VelocityLab as his 7th inning grand slam was almost enough to defeat the Jackets. He finished the day 1 for 2 with 4 RBI's and a walk. Also driving in a run for VelocityLab was A.D. Pena (2016, Banquete, TX) who went 1 for 3 with an RBI. On the mound, Aaron Hernandez (2015, Moody, TX) sat 81-84 and topped out at 87 with his fastball.


Homeplate 17U Shelton Pulls Away for 6-1 Win

Homeplate 17U Shelton scored the final six runs of the game, and claimed a 6-1 victory over Ultimate Baseball 18U on Friday.

Jacob Lane (2015, Central HS, GA) led the offensive efforts for Homeplate, driving in two runs on one hit. David "Connor" Wilson (2015, Northgate HS, GA) and Conner Corbitt (2015, Stratford Academy, GA) added one run batted in each, including a home run for Corbitt. Tyler Mowry (2015, Mcintosh HS, GA) scored two runs with two hits, while Wilson added another two hits in the victory.

Sam Sowerbrower (2015, Newnan HS, GA) struck out four hitters over four innings, allowing one run on two hits to pick up the win. His fastball topped out at 80 mph.

The sole Ultimate Baseball run was driven in by Lipscomb commit Kyle Kemp (2014, Bishop Verot HS, FL) and scored by Nicholls State signee Joseph Morales (2014, Mariner HS, FL). Morales also supplied two hits, including a double. The team’s other hit was a Justin Greenaway (2014, Lakewood Ranch HS, FL) single.

Early Runs Propel Team Alabama to 5-1 Win

Team Alabama scored a run in the first three innings, and never looked back in a 5-1 victory over Denny Pritchett Jayhawks 17/18u on Friday.

Runs were driven in for Team Alabama by Tyler Tolbert (2016, Hewitt-Trussville HS, AL), John Marc Mullins (2017, Homewood HS, AL), Sam Praytor (2017, Pelham HS, AL), and Tyler White (2015, Pelham HS, AL). Logan Brashier (2015, Pelham HS, AL) added two singles, while Tolbert and Praytor clubbed a double apiece in the Alabama victory.

Lance Johnson (2016, Thompson HS, AL) was the leading pitcher for Alabama, firing two innings with one hit allowed and one strikeout. His fastball topped out at 82 mph.

The sole Jayhawks run was driven in by Georgia College commit John Cassandra (2014, West Forsyth HS, GA), and was scored by West Georgia signee Chad Foster (2014, Centennial HS, GA). The team’s two hits, both singles, were recorded by Foster and Cassandra.

Top Notch 17U Wins With Late Rally

Top Notch 17U scored six runs in the top of the sixth inning, and rallied for a 6-3 victory over Dolphins Baseball on Friday.

Braxton Sheriff (2016, Belton Honea Path HS, GA) and The Citadel commit William Kinney (2014, Wilson Hall HS, SC) each recorded two hits with one run batted in to lead the Top Notch offense. Dewitt Wood (2016, Madison County HS, GA), Wes Burnette (2015, TL Hanna HS, SC), and Wesley Waters (2014, Franklin County HS, GA) each drove in one run in the victory.

JP Sears (2014, Wilson Hall HS, SC) tossed a complete game for Top Notch, allowing three runs on five hits with seven strikeouts. His fastball topped out at 85 mph.

Brendan Fox (2017, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) clubbed a home run for the Dolphins, driving in two runs with two hits. Gunner Smith (2016, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) added a run batted in, and Jordan Murray (2016, A. Crawford Mosley HS, FL) recorded a double in the losing effort.

Upstate Mavericks Black Rolls to 10-1 Win

Upstate Mavericks Black scored at least two runs in each of the final three innings, and allowed just one hit in a 10-1 victory over Chicago Satchel Paige All-Stars on Friday.

Jeremy Howell led the Mavericks offense with three runs batted in, two singles, and one run scored. North Carolina commit Preston Hudak (2013, Northwestern HS, SC) added two singles and two runs scored, while USC-Lancaster signee Will LaCount (2014, Lexington HS, SC) scored two runs on one hit. Northwestern recruit Connor Lind (2014, TC Roberson HS, NC) and T.J. Waterbore (2014, Cherokee HS, GA) supplied a double apiece in the win.

Dakota Chalmers struck out eight hitters over five innings, allowing just one run on one hit in the win. His fastball topped out at 92 mph.

The sole Satchel Paige run was scored by William Thomas (2014, Thornridge HS, IL), while the team’s lone hit was a single recorded by Jerome McKinney.
