Perfect Game College All-Americans

Kendall Rogers

San Diego third baseman Kris Bryant and Oklahoma right-handed pitcher Jonathan Gray were the cream of the crop at their respective positions, and are this year's Perfect Game Pitcher and Player of the year, respectively, highlighting an outstanding group of College All-Americans.


Bryant put together a phenomenal campaign for the Toreros, showcasing incredible raw power and earning the distinction of the No. 2 overall pick in the Major League Baseball draft to the Chicago Cubs. The hard-hitting third baseman is no stranger to Perfect Game, either, as a former PG High School All-American, too. Meanwhile, Gray took a significant step forward a junior this spring, showcasing a mid-to-high 90s fastball, along with a wipeout slider, while also being the No. 3 overall pick in the MLB draft to the Colorado Rockies.


Plenty of other outstanding college players rose to the occasion this season. For instance, New Mexico's DJ Peterson and North Carolina State's Carlos Rodon are first-team members for the second-straight season, while Kris Bryant, Gonzaga's Marco Gonzales, Stanford's Mark Appel, Oregon State's Michael Conforto and UCLA's David Berg are familiar faces.

Perfect Game Player of the Year: 3B Kris Bryant, San Diego

Perfect Game Pitcher of the Year: RHP Jonathan Gray, Oklahoma


C Kyle Schwarber
School: Indiana             
Cl.: Sophomore Ht.: 6-0, Wt.: 235
Hometown.: Middletown, Ohio
High school: Middletown
Schwarber became one of the nation's elite players with such a strong sophomore campaign. In addition to being a quality backstop for the Hoosiers, Schwarber's raw power is off the charts, as evidenced by his .376 average, 18 homers and 54 RBIs entering the College World Series.
1B DJ Peterson
School: New Mexico            
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 6-1 Wt.: 205
Hometown.: Gilbert, Ariz.          
High school: Gilbert
Peterson has been one of college baseball's best pure hitters for a couple of seasons now, and he again put together a dominant junior campaign that warranted him a spot as a first-round pick. Peterson batted .408 with 25 doubles, four triples, 18 homers and 72 RBIs.
2B Tony Kemp
School: Vanderbilt            
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 5-6 Wt.: 160
Hometown.: Nashville, Tenn.            
High school: Centennial
One of the ultimate spark plugs in college baseball, Kemp is one of the more exciting players to compete the past couple of years. An excellent defensive player, Kemp is a fearless hitter with a team-high .391 average with 13 doubles, 33 RBIs and 34 stolen bases this season.
SS Alex Bregman
School: LSU             
Cl.: Freshman Ht.: 6-0 Wt.: 190 
Hometown.: Albuquerque, N.M.
High school: Albuquerque Academy
Bregman established himself as one of college baseball's elite players early on, earning high praises from coach Paul Mainieri as early as fall workouts. Bregman leads the Tigers in hitting at .380, entering the CWS, and also has 18 doubles, seven triples, six homers and 52 RBIs.
3B Kris Bryant
School: San Diego             
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 6-5 Wt.: 215             
Hometown.: Las Vegas             
High school: Bonanza
Bryant was one of the top picks in the MLB draft for a great season. In addition to having a big-league frame, Bryant displayed plus raw power throughout the 2013 campaign. He batted .329 with 13 doubles, 31 homers and 62 RBIs, along with a fabulous .820 slugging percentage.
OF Hunter Renfroe
School: Mississippi State            
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 6-1 Wt.: 216             
Hometown.: Crystal Springs, Miss.
High school: Copiah Academy
Renfroe has always had the tools to be an elite player, but was missing a consistent offensive game. Well, he put all the pieces together this season. In addition to being a great defensive player with a strong arm, the versatile Renfroe hit .360 with 15 homers and 61 RBIs.
OF Daniel Palka
School: Georgia Tech            
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 6-2 Wt.: 225             
Hometown.: Lyman, S.C.             
High school: Greer
Palka was more than serviceable as a corner outfielder for the Yellow Jackets, but he made his biggest impact at the plate, displaying his consistent and outstanding raw power. Palka had a huge year for the Jackets, hitting .342 with 13 doubles, three triples, 17 homers and 66 RBIs.
OF Michael Conforto
School: Oregon State             
Cl.: Sophomore Ht.: 6-1 Wt.: 215
Hometown.: Woodinville, Wash.
High school: Redmond
Conforto splashed onto the scene as a freshman last season, and impressed yet against as a sophomore this spring. Conforto is one of the nation's elite hitters with a .320 batting average, 10 doubles, 11 homers and 45 RBIs, while he also induced an impressive 39 walks.
DH COLIN MORAN
School: North Carolina           
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 6-3 Wt.: 215            
Hometown.: Rye, N.Y.           
High school: Iona Prep
Moran has put together quite the career for the Tar Heels, capping things off with a CWS berth and being a first-round selection in the MLB draft. Moran had a terrific 2013 season, which included a .343 batting average, 11 doubles, three triples, 13 homers and 88 RBIs.
UT Michael Lorenzen
School: Cal State Fullerton            
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 6-3, Wt.: 195             
Hometown.: Anaheim, Calif.            
High school: Fullerton
There was nothing Lorenzen couldn't do throughout the 2013 campaign. Lorenzen showcased himself to again be an elite defender with a strong arm in center field, he batted .335 with seven homers and 54 RBIs, and he tallied 19 saves with a 1.99 ERA in 22 2/3 innings of work.
SP Mark Appel
School: Stanford             
Cl.: Senior Ht.: 6-5 Wt.: 215 
Hometown.: Houston            
High school: Monte Vista (Calif.)
Appel received plenty of criticism when he decided to return to Stanford his senior campaign, but that plan paid dividends in more than one way. Appel tallied a 2.12 ERA in 106 1/3 innings of work, while also flashing elite stuff on the way to recording 130 strikeouts, just 23 walks.
SP Jonathan Gray
School: Oklahoma             
Cl.: Junior Ht.: 6-4 Wt.: 239 
Hometown.: Chandler, Okla.             
High school: Chandler
Gray showed flashes of greatness as a sophomore last season, but evolved into such an elite arm this spring. Gray showed a nice three-pitch mix with a mid-to-upper 90s fastball. He also was very consistent with a 1.64 ERA in 126 1/3 innings, along with 147 strikeouts and 26 walks.
SP Aaron Nola
School: LSU            
Cl.: Sophomore Ht.: 6-1 Wt.: 183 
Hometown.: Baton Rouge, La.
High school: Catholic
Nola is called the cool customer by the LSU coaching staff for a good reason. In addition to his good stuff, a fastball that can get up to 92-93, and sometimes 94, Nola has been incredibly consistent this season with a 1.68 ERA in 118 innings, along with 117 strikeouts and 17 walks.
SP Carlos Rodon
School: North Carolina State            
Cl.: Sophomore Ht.: 6-3 Wt.: 234
Hometown.: Holly Springs, N.C. 
High school: Holly Springs
Rodon had his share of ups and downs during the 2013 campaign, but when it mattered most, he rose to the occasion in dominant fashion. Rodon has a 3.19 ERA in 118 1/3 innings of work, while also striking out 170 and walking 42 with a dominant slider and mid-90s fastball.
RP NICK BURDI
School: Louisville            
Cl.: Sophomore Ht.: 6-4 Wt.: 218 
Hometown.: Downers Grove, Ill.
High school: Downers Grove South
Burdi showed a live arm as a freshman last season, but developed more into an overall pitcher this spring for the Cardinals. Burdi consistently touches 100 with his fastball and has a dominant slider at times, too. Burdi has tallied 16 saves and has a 0.78 ERA in 34 2/3 innings.

For the fourth time since its inception in 2023, two rosters comprised of the best rising juniors (and a handful of rising sophomores) will step out onto the field Friday afternoon, kicking off the All-American weekend. Pokers Rally to Capture 16U BCS Title A hot afternoon at JetBlue Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida ended in a 9-1 victory for the Original Florida Pokers 2028 National, defeating SBA Bolts Florida 2028 National on Monday to capture the 16U BCS National Championship. A pitchers’ duel kept the game scoreless through four innings before the Pokers broke it open with a five-run fifth inning. The title marked the Pokers’ second 16U BCS Championship, adding to the championship they won in 2022. Over the 2026 draft cycle, UCLA shortstop Roch Cholowsky was the projected No. 1 pick throughout the entire cycle.
