Baton Rouge

Results: LSU 11, Jackson State 7 -- Sam Houston State 4, Louisiana-Lafayette 2

Roundup: It wasn't pretty at times for LSU in the win over Jackson State, as starting pitcher Ryan Eades allowed two runs on four hits in 2 1/3 innings of work. However, first baseman Mason Katz had a huge game with a home run to deep center, two hits and four RBIs, while Jared Foster also had a home run in the contest … In the nightcap, Sam Houston State left-handed pitcher Cody Dickson wasn't as dominant as he usually can be, but he was more than serviceable, allowing two runs on three hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. Offensively, Luke Plucheck led the way for the Bearkats with three hits, one of them a solo home run to left field.

Blacksburg

Results: Oklahoma 7, Coastal Carolina 3 -- Connecticut 5, Virginia Tech 2

Roundup: Coastal Carolina scored three runs the first two frames off Oklahoma right-handed pitcher Jonathan Gray, but he settled down and tossed a gem in a 7-3 win over Coastal Carolina to begin the Blacksburg Regional. Gray struck out 11, walked one and allowed just three runs (two earned) on nine hits in a complete game performance. Offensively, outfielder Max White had a huge day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two runs scored and two RBIs, while hard-hitting first baseman Matt Oberste had two hits and two RBIs ... UCONN right-handed pitcher Carson Cross very much had our attention entering the weekend and didn't disappoint in a 5-2 shocking win over Virginia Tech. Cross struck out three, walked three and allowed a run on six hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. Meanwhile, first baseman Bobby Melley led the charge at the plate with four hits and an RBI.

Bloomington

Results: Austin Peay 4, Florida 3 -- Indiana 5, Valparaiso 4

Roundup: Governors designated hitter Michael Davis hit a clutch three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth to capture a very hard-fought 4-4 win over Florida. Meanwhile, on the mound, starting pitcher Zach Hall allowed two runs on three hits in 5 1/3 innings, while the bullpen rose to the occasion with Kacy Kemmer leading the way, tossing two shutout frames to give way to Tyler Rogers, who earned his 22nd save of the season … Things were looking very bleak for the Hoosiers entering the bottom of the ninth inning, but they rallied to score four runs in the ninth to beat Valparaiso 5-4. Chad Clark had a walk-off three-run homer in the contest to pace the Indiana offense, while Casey Smith also had two hits.

Chapel Hill

Results: Towson 7, Florida Atlantic 2 -- North Carolina 6, Canisius 3

Roundup: Towson, one of the best stories in college baseball this season, started off the Chapel Hill Regional on the right foot with a 7-2 win over Florida Atlantic in quite the upset. Senior right-handed pitcher Mike Volpe struck out four, walked two and allowed just one run on for hits in seven innings of work. Meanwhile, at the plate, catcher Andrew Parker had a huge performance with a home run and three RBIs. It was a tough day on the bump for Florida Atlantic starting pitcher Jeremy Strawn, who allowed five runs on seven hits in five innings of work. Towson's win is its first in the NCAA postseason since the 1991 campaign  ... It wasn't pretty at times for North Carolina, but it took care of business at home, 6-3 over Canisius. UNC starting pitcher Benton Moss wasn't sharp, allowing three runs on six hits in 4 1/3 innings of work, while relievers Chris McCue and Trent Thornton were fantastic, each tossing two or more innings of shutout baseball to end things.

Charlottesville

Results: Virginia 2, Army 1 -- Elon 10, UNC Wilmington 7

Roundup: Virginia freshman left-handed pitcher Brandon Waddell has had an impressive campaign and tossed a gem in a 2-1 win over Army. Waddell struck out eight, walk no one and allowed a run on three hits in seven innings of work. Meanwhile, left-hander Kyle Crockett was fantastic out of the bullpen, allowing just two hits in two shutout frames. From an offensive standpoint, outfielder Joe McCarthy had a productive day with three hits and an RBI. Army senior right-handed pitcher Chris Rowley also deserves some credit after allowing two runs on eight hits in seven innings ... The Phoenix didn't get a lot of headlines entering the NCAA postseason, but made a statement on Friday with a 10-7 win over a very solid UNC Wilmington club. Antonio Alvarez had a huge day at the plate with a pair of doubles and four RBIs, while Wil Leathers had a home run in the game.

Columbia

Results: Liberty 8, Clemson 3 (upset) -- South Carolina 7, Saint Louis 3

Roundup: It was an interesting start to the day at the Columbia Regional, as hard-throwing Liberty right-handed pitcher Josh Richardson twirled a gem in an 8-3 win over Clemson. Richardson struck out just one batter, but allowed just three runs, two earned, on six hits in a complete game performance. Meanwhile, catcher Trey Wimmer had a huge day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, a run scored and six RBIs. Another hard-hitting guy, first baseman Alex Close, also had a home run in the game ... The Gamecocks were in an absolute nail biter with Saint Louis until they scored four runs in the eighth inning to take a commanding 7-3 lead. South Carolina starting pitcher Nolan Belcher was fantastic in the contest, striking out six, walking one and allowing just a run on four hits in 6 1/3 innings of work. Meanwhile, Graham Saiko led the way at the plate with a double, home run and two RBIs.

Corvallis

Results: UC Santa Barbara 6, Texas A&M 2 -- Oregon State 5, UTSA 4

Roundup: UCSB right-handed pitcher Austin Pettibone tossed an absolute gem as the Gauchos defeated Texas A&M 6-4. Pettibone struck out six, walked no one and allowed just two runs (one earned) on seven hits in 7 2/3 innings of work. Joey Epperson and Luke Swenson each had two hits for the Gauchos, while A&M starting pitcher Daniel Mengden had an uncharacteristic start, allowing five runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings … Oregon State scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to take care of business against Texas-San Antonio, 5-4. Outfielder Dylan Davis had a terrific night at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs, while designated hitter Ryan Barnes had two hits.

Eugene

Results: Rice 3, San Francisco 2 -- Oregon 3, South Dakota State 2

Roundup: San Francisco left fielder Derek Atkinson lost a ball in the sun in the 11th inning, as the Owls captured a 3-2 hard-fought victory over the Dons. USF starting pitchier Haden Hinkle allowed two runs on four hits in 6 2/3 innings of work, while for the Owls, right-handed pitcher Austin Kubitza put together an impressive start, striking out six, walking one and allowing two runs on six hits in seven innings … Meanwhile, South Dakota State is an extremely scrappy club who almost pulled off an upset in a tough setback. UO took the lead for good in the bottom of the eighth inning when first baseman Ryon Healy hit an RBI double. SDSU starting pitcher Layne Somsen deserves some love after allowing just two runs (one hit) on seven innings this week.

Fullerton

Results: Cal State Fullerton 4, Columbia 1, Arizona State 4, New Mexico 3

Roundup: Arizona State right-handed pitcher Trevor Williams put together just an OK performance on Friday in a win over New Mexico. Williams struck out four, walked three and allowed just eight hits in 7 2/3 innings of work, while hard-throwing youngster Ryan Burr tossed 1 1/3 scoreless frames. ASU pitching held big-time UNM slugger DJ Peterson to a hit and an RBI … In the nightcap, Fullerton starting pitcher Grahamm Wiest struck out four, walked no one and allowed just one run on there hits in a complete game performance, while third baseman Matt Chapman had a home run, two runs scored and two RBIs, while outfielder Michael Lorenzen, who injured his arm (doesn't seem serious) chipped in a two-hit performance.

Los Angeles

Results: Cal Poly 9, San Diego 2 -- UCLA 5, San Diego State 3

Roundup: The Mustangs have put together an impressive campaign and Wagman, a talented right-handed pitcher, couldn't have been better in a 9-2 win over San Diego. He struck out three batters and allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits in eight innings of work. Meanwhile, at the plate, Jimmy Allen had four hits and two RBIs, while Brian Mundell had a home run and four RBIs. For the Toreros, powerful third baseman Kris Bryant went 0-for-3 with a strikeout. The win over San Diego was Cal Poly's first NCAA postseason win in school history … In the final game of the day out in Los Angeles, UCLA right-handed pitcher Adam Plutko once again shined in a 5-3 win over San Diego State. Plutko struck out four, walked one and allowed two runs on six hits in seven innings, while at the plate, Brenton Allen had a home run and first baseman Pat Gallagher had three hits and two RBIs.

Louisville

Results: Miami 7, Oklahoma State 0 -- Louisville 8, Bowling Green 3

Roundup: In his first career postseason start as a freshman, Miami left-handed pitcher Chris Diaz couldn't have been more impressive in a 7-0 win over Oklahoma State. Diaz struck out 10, walked five and allowed just three hits in seven shutout innings. The bullpen took care of the rest, while catcher Garrett Kennedy went 3-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBIs. For the Cowboys, ace right-handed pitcher Jason Hursh didn't have a good day on the mound, allowing five runs on seven hits in just 4 1/3 innings of work … UL put together a very business-like 8-3 win over Bowling Green to being the NCAA postseason. UL right-handed pitcher Chad Green had a solid start, striking out five, walking two and allowing three runs on five hits in seven innings, while at the plate, outfielder CoCoJohnson had a home run, three hits and three RBIs.

Manhattan

Results: Kansas State 20, Wichita State 11 -- Bryant 4, Arkansas 1

Roundup: The Wildcats really couldn't have been more impressive offensively in a dominant win over Wichita State. K-State leadoff hitter Ross Kivett had a huge day at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two homers and four RBIs, while Tanner Witt had four hits and Jon Davis had two hits and four RBIs … In the nightcap, to no surprise, Bryant right-handed pitcher Peter Kelich put together a solid start in a 4-1 win over the Hogs. Kelich struck out six and allowed a run on two hits in five innings, while reliever Salvatore Lisanti, who has a good changeup, tossed four hitless frames to finish the contest.

Nashville

Results: Illinois 6, Georgia Tech 4 -- Vanderbilt 9, East Tennessee State 1

Roundup: Illinois freshman left-handed pitcher Kevin Duchene put together yet another impressive start in a 6-4 win over Georgia Tech. Duchene struck out five, walked two and allowed there runs on eight hits in seven innings of work, while at the plate, Jordan Parr has a huge day, going 2-for-5 with a pair of homers, two runs scored and three RBIs. Also worth noting, brother Justin Parr had two hits and an RBI, while Davis Hendrickson had two hits and an RBI. Georgia Tech gambled in the contest by starting Dusty Isaacs. He allowed four runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings of work in the setback … ETSU made the interesting move to hold ace pitcher Kerry Done for another day, and that backfired as starting pitcher Jimmy Nesselt allowed eight runs on 10 hits in 6 2/3 innings. For the Commodores, starting pitcher Kevin Ziomek twirled a gem, striking out five and allowing a run (not earned) on three hits in seven innings.

Raleigh

Results: William & Mary 4, Ole Miss 2, North Carolina State 4, Binghamton 1

Roundup: William & Mary sophomore left-handed pitcher Jason Inghram tossed an absolute gem in a 4-2 win over Ole Miss to begin the Raleigh Regional. Inghram struck out three, walked one and allowed two runs on eight hits in eight innings of work, while at the plate, the Tribe was led by Jonathan Sarty and Michael Katz, who each finished the contest with a pair of hits. For Ole Miss, right-handed pitcher Mike Mayers didn't have an impressive performance, walking three batters, striking out just three and allowing four runs on three hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. ... North Carolina State's Trea Turner and Tarran Senay each had a home run in the game, as the Wolfpack captured the victory. Meanwhile, the Pack pieced together this game from a pitching standpoint, with Ethan Ogburn throwing 3 2/3 innings, Andrew Woeck tossing an inning and Josh Easley striking out four in 4 1/3 shutout frames.

Starkville

Results: South Alabama 9, Mercer 4 -- Mississippi State 5, Central Arkansas 3

Roundup: USA starting pitcher Anthony Izzio put together yet another solid performance for the Jaguars, striking out five, walking one and allowing a run on seven hits in six innings, while the offense cruised with Nick Zaharion and Dustin Dalken combining for four hits and seven RBIs … In the nightcap, State right-handed pitcher Kendall Graveman struck out five and allowed just one earned run in 6 1/3 innings of work, while reliever Chad Girodo also performed at a high level and first baseman Wes Rea led the offense with two hits and two RBIs.

Tallahassee

Results: Troy 5, Alabama 2 -- Florida State 10, Savannah State 0

Roundup: Troy's pitching has been much improved this season, and left-handed hurler Shane McCain tossed a gem in a 5-2 win over Alabama. McCain struck out six, walked one and allowed just two runs on seven hits in 6 2/3 innings of work. Also worth noting, reliever Nate Hill tossed two shutout innings. At the plate, first baseman Trae Santos hit a huge three-run home run in the fourth inning to lead the charge. For Alabama, it was a disappointing day for starting pitcher Charley Sullivan, who was lifted early in the contest after allowing five runs on six hits in 3 1/3 innings … There was plenty of hype about SSU right-handed pitcher Kyle McGowin entering this contest, but he had a rough start, striking out and walking six, and allowing 10 runs on nine hits in five innings of work. Meanwhile, FSU veteran right-handed pitcher Scott Sitz once again put together a great start, striking out eight and allowing just three hits in 1 2/3 innings.
