Adam Plutko wasn’t in an enviable situation last summer. He pitched for Team USA - which is of course an honor - but he pitched alongside power arms like Ryne Stanek, Bobby Wahl, Jonathon Crawford, and Trevor Williams. Side by side, simply in terms of pure stuff, Plutko doesn’t stack with those pitchers. What he might lack in the way of electric, swing and miss stuff, however, he more than makes up for with pitchability and command. This is not a pitcher that a scout is going to fall in love with after seeing him in one outing, but his track record and consistency speaks volumes.
