College Top 25: Hogs getting higher

Kendall Rogers

There are college baseball campaigns where it seems like we're changing the nation's No. 1 team every couple of weeks or so, but this season is a bold exception.

The top five teams in the Perfect Game College Top 25 have been incredibly consistent so far this season, and as a result, the top five in the latest rankings remains unchanged with North Carolina, LSU, Vanderbilt, Cal State Fullerton and Virginia leading the way.

North Carolina swept Maryland over the weekend, LSU dominated Kentucky at home, Vanderbilt swept Ole Miss on the road, Cal State Fullerton swept UC Davis and Virginia won the first two games of the weekend on the road against Wake Forest.

While there's not a ton of movement in the top five, there's plenty of movement elsewhere in the rankings. For instance, Arkansas and South Carolina entered the top 10 after having great weekends. The Razorbacks took two of three from Alabama on the road, while South Carolina swept Tennessee on the road.

Oklahoma and Indiana moved to No. 12 and No. 13, respectively, after impressive weekends against Texas and Illinois, while UCLA and Oregon each dropped to No's 14 and 16 respectively, after dropping series to Oregon State and Arizona State. Also worth noting, Georgia Tech dropped from No. 10 to No. 19 after a less than stellar week.

In terms of new entrants, Mississippi State and Clemson moved in at No's 22 and 23, respectively, after successful weekends against Florida and Boston College.

Conference breakdown: SEC 7, ACC 6, Pac-12 4, Big East 2, Conference USA 2, Big 12 1, Big West 1, Atlantic Sun 1, Big Ten 1
