It was an impressive summer for Indiana State.

Up at the Cape Cod League this summer, Sycamores lefthanded pitcher Sean Manaea made significant waves with an outstanding campaign that has many believing he's destined to be one of the top five picks in the 2013 MLB draft.

He's joined by Sycamores infielder Koby Kraemer.

Kraemer didn't have a particularly great spring season for the Sycamores, but blossomed this summer with an outstanding campaign that ended with a .371 batting average, six homers and 24 RBIs.

Plenty of others also starred at the Coastal Plains League this summer.

INF Koby Kraemer, Indiana State -- Kraemer finished the spring with just a .262 batting average, but made serious strides this summer. He was one of the Coastal Plains League's leading hitters, batting .371 with nine doubles, six homers and 24 RBIs. He also slugged .589 and had a .461 on-base percentage.

SS Reed Harper, Austin Peay -- Harper had a nice spring with the Governors and didn't skip a beat this summer at the CPL. He was one of the league's leading sluggers, batting .370 with eight doubles, two triples, two homers and 31 RBIs. He also slugged .487 and had a .418 OBP.

OF Mike Tauchman, Bradley -- The talented outfielder had quite the year on the baseball diamond. In addition to hitting over .300 for the Braves in 2012, he finished things off with a very productive summer, hitting .351 with five doubles, two triples, three homers and 30 RBIs. He also slugged .473 and had an impressive .447 OBP. Tauchman also finished the summer with 35 stolen bases.

OF Michael Camporeale, Washington -- Camporeale had a rather average spring for the Huskies, but made some significant strides this summer with a solid offensive campaign. He batted .340 with 19 doubles, nine homers and 42 RBIs. He also slugged .627 and finished the summer with 11 stolen bases.

UT Alex Close, Liberty -- Close put together an impressive year on the diamond. He finished the 2012 campaign for the Flames with a batting average over .300. He also had a very solid summer, hitting .329 with 13 doubles, four homers and 30 RBIs. He slugged .490 and had a .392 slugging percentage.

C/INF Tyler White, Western Carolina -- White hit just over .350 for the Catamounts this past spring, and he didn't have any issues emulating that success this summer at the CPL. He batted .319 with 13 doubles, five homers and 38 RBIs. He also slugged .466 and had a .419 OBP.

OF Nathan Chong, Presbyterian -- Chong hit just .262 in the spring for the Blue Hose, but stepped up in a big way this summer. He batted .317 with 10 doubles, a triple, five homers and 32 RBIs. He also slugged .464 and had a .383 OBP. He also finished the summer an impressive 16-for-21 in stolen bases.

UT Kyle Brandenburg, High Point -- Here's an interesting player to watch as the 2013 season draws closer. Brandenburg had a very solid summer at the CPL and should immediately help HPU. This summer, he batted .314 with six doubles, one triple, five homers and 30 RBIs.

OF Jason Kanzler, Buffalo -- Kanzler put together an impressive spring for Buffalo and followed that up with a very good summer. He batted .308 with seven doubles, four triples, eight homers and 32 RBIs. He also slugged .522 and finished the summer an outstanding 21-for-25 in stolen bases.

INF Andrew Amaro, Maryland -- Amaro finished the spring with just an average in the 100s in very limited number of at bats. This summer, though, he lived up to more potential with a .303 average, three doubles, 20 RBIs and an excellent .457 OBP. He also was 23-for-27 in stolen bases.

RHP Layne Somsen, South Dakota State -- Somsen had just an ERA around 4.50 for the Jackrabbits in the spring, but he really rose to the occasion this summer. He appeared in seven games (seven starts) and had a 1.29 ERA in 42 innings of work. He also struck out 47 and walked 15, while teams only hit him at a .129 clip.

LHP Alex Caravella, Pitt -- After tallying a 4.07 ERA for the Panthers in 2012, Caravella had an outstanding summer at the CPL. He appeared in nine games (nine starts) and had a 1.62 ERA in 50 innings of work. He also struck out 57 and walked 21, while teams hit him at a .191 clip.

LHP Matt Waiman, William & Mary -- Waiman should really help the Tribe during the upcoming 2013 campaign. He appeared in 10 games (eight starts) and had a 1.78 ERA in 50 2/3 innings of work. He also struck out 56 and walked six, while teams hit him at just a .247 clip.

LHP Danny Smith, Monmouth -- Smith only tallied a 4.88 ERA for the Hawks this past season, but he put together an impressive summer. He appeared in seven games (seven starts) and had a 1.95 ERA in 50 2/3 innings. He also struck out 20 and walked seven, while teams hit him at just a .238 clip.

RHP Ryan Tezak, West Virginia -- The talented righthanded pitcher had a solid 2012 campaign with an ERA of 1.35, and continued his successful ways this summer. He appeared in 10 games (10 starts) and had a 2.58 ERA in 52 1/3 innings of work. He also struck out 51 and walked 26, while teams hit him at a .216 clip.

RHP Michael Suk, Nicholls State -- Suk tallied just a 4.79 ERA for the Colonels in the spring, but stepped up this summer with an impressive showing. He appeared in 10 games (10 starts) and had a 3.25 ERA in 61 innings of work. He also struck out 33 and walked 11, while teams hit him at a .267 clip.

RHP Josh Laxer, Ole Miss -- Laxer had just an OK freshman campaign for the Rebels, but stepped up in a big way this summer. He appeared in eight games (seven starts) and had a 2.44 ERA in 44 1/3 innings of work. He also struck out 35 and walked 20, while teams hit him at a .235 clip.

RHP Mike Frank, Bowling Green -- Frank has a great chance to really help the Falcons as the 2013 campaign nears. He appeared in nine games (nine starts) and had a 3.92 ERA in 57 1/3 innings of work. He also struck out 56 and walked 13, while teams hit him at a .256 clip.

RHP Danny Mooney, Davidson -- Mooney tallied an unimpressive 6.10 ERA in the spring for the Wildcats, but stepped up this summer at the CPL. He appeared in nine games (eight starts) and had a 3.33 ERA in 51 1/3 innings of work. He also struck out 53 and walked 11, while teams hit him at a .286 clip.

RHP Andrew Brockett, Richmond -- Brockett shined on the mound as he blossomed into one of the nation's elite prospects with a strong summer. He made 17 appearances and had a 1.47 ERA in 18 1/3 innings of work. He also struck out 24 and walked six, while teams only hit him at a .169 clip.
