LOOKING GOOD: Oregon State, LSU
REVIEW: Oregon State freshman left-handed pitcher Jace Fry continues to put together impressive performances. He allowed just one run on four hits in five innings, as the Beavers captured a 2-1 win over Belmont. The OSU bullpen also did a terrific job, as Tony Bryant tossed 1 2/3 shutout innings and Matt Boyd tossed 2 1/3 shutout frames … LSU freshman right-hander pitcher Aaron Nola put together an absolute gem in a hard-fought 4-1 win over Louisiana Monroe. Nola struck out 10 and allowed just one run on four hits in eight innings, as the Tigers captured a 4-1 victory. LSU third baseman Tyler Hanover went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
CHAPEL HILL REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: St. John’s, North Carolina
REVIEW: It shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that St. John’s captured an 11-3 win over East Carolina. The Johnnies have a good club, while many would argue ECU shouldn’t have even been in the field, much less a No. 2 seed. St. John’s outfielder Jeremy Baltz blasted his eighth home run of the season in the victory. Meanwhile, right-handed starting pitcher Kyle Hansen, an elite prospect, struck out eight and allowed three runs on eight hits in 7 1/3 innings of work … North Carolina put together a very business-like performance in a 7-4 win over Cornell. UNC third baseman Colin Moran had four hits, while catcher Jacob Stallings went 2-for-5 with two RBIs. UNC used six pitchers in the victory.
COLLEGE STATION REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Ole Miss, Texas A&M
REVIEW: The Rebels certainly have struggled lately, but right-handed pitcher Bobby Wahl made sure they got back on track in a 6-2 win over TCU. Wahl struck out nine batters and allowed just two runs on four hits in the seven-inning effort. Meanwhile, the Rebels received a boost with R.J. Hively returning to the mound and allowing just one hit in two innings. Offensively, versatile leaders Tanner Mathis and Alex Yarbrough each had two hits … In what could be his final game at Blue Bell Park, Texas A&M right-handed pitcher Michael Wacha struck out nine and allowed just five hits in 7 1/3 innings of work. A&M first baseman Jacob House went 3-for-5 with an RBI.
COLUMBIA REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: South Carolina, Clemson
REVIEW: Clemson certainly looked like a team looking forward to play the back-to-back national champions in South Carolina. Tigers starting pitcher Kevin Pohle put together a respectable start and David Haselden threw well in relief, as the Tigers captured an 11-3 win over Coastal Carolina. Phil Pohl led the way at the plate, going 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBIs … In the nightcap, South Carolina starting pitcher Colby Holmes struck out nine batters and allowed just one hit in eight shutout innings in a 7-0 triumph over Manhattan. South Carolina outfielder Adam Matthews led the way at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.

LOOKING GOOD: UCF, Stony Brook
REVIEW: UCF had a very tough first-round matchup against Missouri State, but got a tremendous pitching performance from Ben Lively in a 2-1 win over the Bears. Lively struck out six batters and allowed just three hits in 5 2/3 innings of work. UCF relievers Joe Rogers and Chris Matulis also threw well in the contest … Stony Brook starting pitcher Tyler Johnson allowed just two runs on eight hits in 6 1/3 innings of work, as the Seawolves captured a 10-2 win over host Miami. Offensively, SBU third baseman William Carmona went 2-for-5 with a home run (11) and three RBIs.

LOOKING GOOD: Cal State Fullerton, Oregon
REVIEW: Cal State Fullerton starting pitcher Grahamm Wiest allowed five runs on seven hits in 5 2/3 innings of work, but reliever Koby Gauna stepped up in a solid 9-5 win over Indiana State. Gauna struck out two batters and allowed just one hit in 3 1/3 scoreless frames, as the Titans captured the win and now face former head coach George Horton in the winner’s bracket … Oregon stud relievers Joey Housey and Jimmie Sherfy were solid Friday night, as the Ducks captured a 6-5 come-from-behind victory over Austin Peay with two runs in the ninth inning. Ducks third baseman Ryan Hambright led the way at the plate with four hits.
GAINESVILLE REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Georgia Tech, Florida
REVIEW: Georgia Tech starting pitcher Cole Pitts allowed four runs on 10 hits in just 3 2/3 innings of work, prompting the Yellow Jackets to go with Dusty Isaacs out of the bullpen. Isaacs didn’t disappoint, striking out four and allowing just three hits in 5 1/3 shutout innings of work in an 8-4 win over College of Charleston. Jake Davies continued his hot hitting with a home run, double and four RBIs … It was a historic night for the Gators, who captured a 4-0 win over Bethune-Cookman. But most important is the fact sophomore left-handed pitcher Jonathon Crawford tossed the first no-hitter in the NCAA postseason since 1991. Crawford struck out five batters and threw only 98 pitches, 70 of them for strikes.

LOOKING GOOD: Kent State, Purdue
REVIEW: What a dandy of a day it was in Northern Indiana, as Kent State outlasted Kentucky 7-6 in a 21-inning affair, the second longest game in NCAA postseason history behind the 25-inning affair between Boston College and Texas a few seasons ago. Kent State used five pitchers in the win, all but one of them for more than three innings. Flashes outfielder Alex Miklos only went 2-for-8 in the contest, but had the big blast of the game with an RBI triple in the top of the 21st. Flashes first baseman George Roberts went 5-for-10 with two RBIs … Purdue starting pitcher Joe Haase put together a fabulous performance in a 7-2 win over Valparaiso. Haase struck out seven batters and allowed just a run on six hits in seven innings. Purdue got two hits and two RBIs from Cam Perkins and Barrett Serrato, while closer Nick Wittgren had some serious gas on his pitches out of the bullpen to close the game.
HOUSTON REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Arkansas, Rice
REVIEW: Arkansas starting pitcher DJ Baxendale struck out six batters and allowed four runs on six hits in six innings of work, but reliever Brandon Moore rose to the occasion as the Razorbacks captured a 5-4 win over Sam Houston State. Moore allowed just two hits in three scoreless innings of work. Meanwhile, Hogs third baseman Matt Reynolds finished the night with three hits … Rice right-handed starting pitcher John Simms struck out seven batters and allowed just two runs on two hits in seven innings of work, as the Owls edged SWAC representative Prairie View A&M, 3-2. While Simms started the game in impressive fashion, reliever Tyler Duffey continued his impressive ways by striking out three and tossing two scoreless innings.
LOS ANGELES REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: New Mexico, UCLA
REVIEW: What a campaign New Mexico has put together this season. Though the Lobos are a team mostly known for their offensive tendencies, starting pitcher Austin House tossed an absolute gem in a 4-0 win over San Diego. House struck out five and allowed just six hits in seven innings of work. Meanwhile, reliever Hobie McClain struck out three and allowed a hit in two innings of work. UNM third baseman DJ Peterson lived up to the hype against the Toreros, going 4-for-4 with a home and two RBIs … UCLA starting pitcher Adam Plutko had little trouble carving up Creighton in a dominant 3-0 triumph. Plutko struck out seven and allowed just two hits in a complete game performance. It’s worth noting Creighton prized left-handed pitcher Ty Blach struck out six and allowed just three runs on seven hits in eight innings. UCLA leadoff hitter Beau Amaral had three of the Brusin’ seven hits off Blach.
PALO ALTO REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Pepperdine, Stanford
REVIEW: Pepperdine has been able to consistently rely on ace pitcher Jon Moscot throughout the spring. That trend didn’t change Friday night, as the Waves captured a 6-2 win over Michigan State. Moscot struck out four and allowed just two runs on 10 hits in a complete game performance. Moscot threw 79 of his 126 pitches for strikes. Pepperdine catcher Miles Silverstein had three hits in the game … Stanford prized right-handed pitcher Mark Appel stepped up in the biggest situation of the year to-date, as the Cardinal captured an easy 9-1 win over Fresno State. Appel struck out 11 and allowed just one run on four hits in a complete game performance. Appel threw 83 of his 122 pitches for strikes. Stanford sophomore outfielder Austin Wilson knocked in three runs at the plate.
RALEIGH REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Vanderbilt, North Carolina State
REVIEW: The Commodores have played an outstanding brand of baseball over the past few weeks, and that didn’t change Friday in an 8-2 win over UNC Wilmington. Vandy right-handed starting pitcher TJ Pecoraro struck out eight and allowed just two runs on six hits in 7 2/3 innings of work. He threw 64 of his 103 pitches for strikes. Offensively, Commodores shortstop Anthony Gomez had two hits and three RBIs … N.C. State designated hitter Ryan Mathews has really stepped up and provided some big-time blasts at the plate down the stretch. Mathews was back at it again on Friday, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs in a 16-5 win over Sacred Heart. NCSU first baseman Andrew Ciencin also had a nice night with three hits.
TALLAHASSEE REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Samford, Florida State
REVIEW: Mississippi State entered the Tallahassee Regional sizzling hot, but was brought back down to Earth on Friday with a tough 5-0 setback. The Bulldogs hit four homers in the game, with two-way stud C.K Irby, who also was 93 with his fastball on the mound, added three hits to help the cause. Samford starting pitcher Charles Basford was terrific in the win, striking out four and allowing just five hits in eight shutout frames … Who would’ve thought the FSU pitching staff would key a victory in this situation? Seminoles starting pitcher Scott Sitz allowed a run on six hits in 4 1/3 innings of work, while outfielder James Ramsey had two hits and two RBIs. It’s also worth noting the job UAB starting pitcher Michael Busby did, striking out four and allowing two runs on five hits in eight innings.
TUCSON REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Louisville, Arizona
REVIEW: The Cardinals lacked offensive production on Friday, but really stepped up from a pitching standpoint in a 3-2 win. UL starting pitcher Justin Amlung, who typically sits in the upper 80s/low 90s with his fastball, struck out five and allowed just two runs (one earned) on six hits in seven innings of work. Meanwhile, UL reliever Travis Tingle put together a great performance, tossing three scoreless frames to end the game … Arizona couldn’t be happier with the way Friday’s contest against Missouri transpired. On the field, Wildcats starting pitcher Kurt Heyer struck out seven and allowed just three runs on four hits in a complete game performance and 15-3 win over the Tigers. Meanwhile, leadoff hitter Joey Rickard led the way for the Wildcats, going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and four RBIs.
WACO REGIONAL
LOOKING GOOD: Dallas Baptist, Oral Roberts
REVIEW: The Patriots really couldn’t have played a better brand of baseball in a 10-0 win over Texas-Arlington. DBU starting pitcher Taylor Massey was terrific, striking out five and allowing just four hits in a complete game shutout. Offensively, the Patriots got some big-time offensive production from shortstop Joel Hutter, who went 3-for-5 with five RBIs, while Ronnie Mitchell and Duncan McAlpine each had three hits … How about Oral Roberts? The Golden Eagles put together just an OK regular season campaign, but really stepped up in an opening 4-2 win over nationally-seeded Baylor. ORU starting pitcher Drew Bowen allowed just two runs on six hits in six innings of work, while reliever Joe Spring struck out five and allowed just one hit in three innings.
