MORE: PG's projected field of 64

It wasn't too many weeks ago the RPI was unreliable.

As is the case every season, the RPI started the year with some obvious oddities. For instance, you had at least one team from the Ivy League in the top-20 of the RPI at one point early in the season. That obviously wasn't going to stick.

Now that conference play has begun around the country, the RPI is becoming more accurate by the day.

Perhaps that's why we're so intrigued by Purdue.

Despite being a Big Ten team that spent the first month or so on the road, the Boilermakers have recorded some impressive wins and are sitting pretty with an RPI of 16, while also having plenty of chances to improve their standing over the next couple of months.

Purdue isn't the only team catching our attention when it comes to the postseason race.

We breakdown the national landscape from an RPI standpoint, and also answer in detail some of the burning questions stemming from our first projected field of 64.
